In the Alleyway that runs astride Caprice Hall, you can find the stage entrance.

New York was dirty. Sarah had determined that the minute she had arrived in the city, a far cry from the wide open plains and endless blue skies of the West. The thing that was most surprising was, that she didn't altogether mind, to her....this was a grand adventure. Naomi's letter had contained an enticing offer and Sarah had been ready for some new scenery and a new lease on life. So now she carried her satchel with her few meager belongings, and the red dress that was her good luck charm on stage, and was standing by the stage door of Caprice Hall wondering how in god's name she was supposed to find her friend. Lifting her hand, Sarah wrapped loudly on the stage door, wondering if anyone would even hear her knocking and hoped Naomi wasn't far.

Naomi was barking orders for the gala and blew her hair out of her face, rolling her shoulders a bit as she sighed. There was so much left to do and that was just for the gala, not even the show for that evening. Truth be told she preferred the running of the place to the headlining. But she had a plan, smiling to herself she turned when she heard the bell.
Barking for someone to take care of the sets she turned and headed to the door, a smile blooming across her features as she saw her old friend. "Sarah! You made it!" she was relieved. She had a headliner, a man running the bar. All in all she was making a fine go of this situation.

"Just barely," Sarah groused good naturedly, once Naomi opened the door, her green eyes already taking in the active backstage area as it crawled with people. "You found a fine place to build yourself a theater, darling," She leaned over and pressed a kiss against Naomi's cheek before moving through the door and turning around, breathing in the scent of the theater and grinning. "Well you got me here, now what is all this noise about needing a headliner?"

Naomi chuckled, folding her arms around her waist as she followed her friend inside the back, allowing the door to shut firmly at their heals. "Well, I inherited it actually. The former owner ended up running off with her husband and left the entire enterprise.. to me." she ran her hand threw her hair gently as she walked over to stand beside her friend, dark eyes scanning the work that continued around them without fail.
"Well Sarah, I can't run the place and headline for it. And I figured, why not call an old friend," her smirk was quick, with the wisp of a smile. She always had that about her, class with mischief thrown in was very much who Naomi was. "I think you'll do fantastic, Sarah. And it would help me, after all-- Sarah Williams will bring a lot of business to this place. It needs a little western touch.."

"Inherited huh?" Sarah mused for a bit, watching the action and noting that Naomi's excellent eye for overseeing had already begun to take effect. She glanced over at her friend and then back towards the stage, imagining herself singing and felt a smile tug at her lips.
"You give my name far to much credit, darling. I doubt it will carry much weight here, but if it's Western flavor you want, then it's Western flavor you'll get," Sarah promised with a flick of her wrist, already mentally running through a list of songs that she could sing. "We always did make a good team."

Naomi lifted her head and watched the hustle and bustle with a creative and demanding eye. She was the kind of person that could get people marching to the drum she liked the best, but she wasn't above incorporating someone elses tune into her beat. She looked over at her friend after she'd spoke and smiled.
"That we did, taking the world by storm and I think that people will come to hear you sing. Caprice has always been the pinnacle of excellence and I want to carry on the tradition. But it also needs some more bite and sass. And that is exactly what we're going to give this town... did I mention my bartender hates people?" she laughed and shook her head, god love Jim for his personality. Hell she loved him to bits.

"Hates people?" Sarah repeated, arching an eyebrow as she considered the possibilities. "Perhaps it's just that he hasn't met the right ones yet," Sarah said with a laugh, thinking that she'd have to drop in on this intriguing sounding bartender before long. But she reminded herself that she had plenty of time to get acquainted to the staff, this was home now...as strange as that all sounded.
For all her bustle and show, Sarah was actually having a few flutters of butterflies in her stomach at the thought of starting over somewhere knew. But thinking of what she had left behind, it was a welcome respite, a new beginning that she didn't dare pass up. So she squared her shoulders and smiled at Naomi, feeling like perhaps this just might all work out. "I suppose it might be best if you give me the grand tour and let me get a look at the other girls. See if I can't whip in some Western in just a few short hours."

Naomi winked at her and nodded towards the dressing rooms to lead her friend to the back, "Ah, Jim. He makes me laugh, one of two men in all of New York that just intrigue me to no end. The other is a waiter that I fight with constantly. Or used too, he used to live in my building before I moved into the apartment upstairs. He's, intriguing to be sure.."
Through the long corridor back behind the curtains and the various ropes and weights, passing the stairs that carried some of the men up to deal with the lights and the chandeliers was the dressing room for a few of the girls. They'd been there as long as Naomi some even long, she'd hired a few herself. Fired others that thought they'd deserved what she'd obtained. It wasn't that she didn't like a little healthy competition but an all out mutiny was not on her to do list for any day.
Naomi folded her arms and looked over the girls, leaning over to Sarah. "They're a bit rough some of them, but we were all like that. Worse when we were hungry.."

Sarah followed Naomi through the maze of the backstage and corridors to the dressing rooms, looking over the motley crew of girls, most of them young. Sarah would have to see the perform to really know what she was working with, but they looked able and with the way they were gazing at her and Naomi, knew something was up. "Rough I can work with," Sarah mused, running a few fingers through her dark hair and mentally already designing routines that might utilize what she saw in front of her. "I think we can both admit that we've seen worse in our day."

"Much worse," she agreed with a nod as she looked over the rag tag of girls, all of them lovely and most of them with voices that could carry more then a tune in a bucket. These girls were an amazing chorus line, and they could dance too. "And they are the best, of the best. I intend to keep Caprice as standard... and I'm sure together we can accomplish that.." she smiled. Oh it was true.

"I would expect you to have a standard, Naomi," Sarah teased, a light flashing in her green eyes as she felt a sort of warmth at the prospect of building something lasting here. "We will make this the finest place in New York, we'll have crowds every night and money coming out of our ears." Sarah laughed then, shifting around until she found her cigarettes, pulling one out and lighting it.
"We should start with something simple for tonight, I assume there was some kind of program in place. We can work with that for the time being until we get something more concrete," Sarah began, looking over at Naomi. "Something with a little bit more...sass."

Naomi laughed and nodded as she took a step towards the girls, "Ladies this is our new Headliner, Sarah Williams. My dearest friend-- if you please be good to her or else we might find ourselves having some trouble.." That was a way to say don't and I'll fire you. She smiled at them and turned towards Sarah once again nodding. "I think this City could use a lot more sass and a taste of the west. They don't get enough of it. They are oh so civilized.."
Grinning Naomi turned towards the stage and leaned against one of the supports. "I'm glad to finally have something that is mine.."

Sarah watched the reactions of the girls as Naomi introduced her, noting that most of them seemed almost excited at the prospect of a new spin and the Western flair that Naomi promised. "Hello ladies!" Sarah spoke up, clapping her hands before smiling at them all. "We'll keep it simple this evening and then work towards adding a few things that I've learned over the years, but for now I want to see what you have. What do you say to a mini rehearsal in about a half hour?" Sarah knew that she was plunging forward at what might be a surprising rate, but she was getting more excited at the prospect of handling the stage show with each passing moment.
"You should be proud Naomi," Sarah said, sparing her friend a smile. "You deserve it."

Naomi watched the girls excitement and it made her smile, she loved how Sarah just blazed in and took charge of the girls and she saw how excited they were. She ran her hands threw her hair as she thought about how good this was going to be for Caprice. Having Sarah around was always good for Naomi. Having someone she agreed with.
"Thanks," she said after a moment. "I think we both deserves something more than what the world says we were born for."
