He followed her down the stairs, shrugging at her question. "Well I needed to find a job quickly.." He decided not to mention no one wanted to hire him, it hurt his pride a bit. "And well, I grew up in Queens, and my parents don't live far from here, so I can bring them money easy enough." He couldn't help but continue to marvel at her disguise as he spoke, and ended up blurting out a question of his own. "Why is it that you dress like a boy?"

Prince stopped in her tracks and turned around suddenly. "...No reason," she said looking him in the eyes with a sort of intensity. "No offense... Dez... but there are some questions that are better left unasked... and unanswered," she turned back around suddenly, and returned to her previous mood.
"That's nice of ya, ya know," she said as she went down a few more stairs. "Makin' money ta help out cha family," she said. "Plus ya getta go home for dinner if ya ever get homesick or somethin', right?" she asked with a smile as she opened the front door. "Aftah you."

Luis stopped walking when she turned around but he had almost ran into her and had to step back. His mouth hung open slightly after she spoke, but he nodded vehemently. "Sure, yeah... sorry..." He bit the side of his lip awkwardly as she turned and continued down the stairs, and having been still a bit shocked he had to skip a few steps to catch up to her. "Oh no, I don't think I'll be going there much.." He stepped through the door and turned around to her and continued. "They're living with my aunt and uncle, and five of my nieces and nephews... it's not a big place..." He shrugged and smiled.

Prince slowly got the picture. "I'm with ya," she said as she followed him out the door. She stuffed her hands in her pockets, and took on a boyish slouch. She took on more of a manly shape, and took hard larger steps. It was amazing the quick transformation, yet it was an unconscious thought anymore.
"Sorry ta hear that," she said. She knew quite a few families had it rough. But he had offered the information, she hadn't asked. Therefor, it was public info now. "So, I'm guessin' you have sold a pape b'fore," she guessed. "But... have ya ever heard of somethin' called... improvin' the truth?"

Watching her out of the corner of his eye Luis smirked slightly at her shifting posture. He couldn't help but find it a little amusing. At her question his grin faded and he attempted to look serious. "Uh, well no, but if you mean lying.." He paused, attempting to look innocent with a slight smile. "I may have tried that a few times.."

Prince chuckled a little, and, after lowering her voice to a deeper tone to even sound like a boy she said, "Well... everyone figures it out sooner or later. Da sad fact of da mattah is... dat's da way ta make any money in this business," she said honestly.
"And it ain't lyin', so long as you don't get caught," she said with a smirk. "There are worse fates than havin' to lie to make a living," she explained. "And all ya gotta do is take a head line and make it work for you, instead of you workin' for it. So you don't know where to even begin do ya?" she asked as they neared Queens distribution.
(We can move this there if you'd like.)

((Sure!))
Luis nodded, though he was a bit distracted by her change in tone. He much preferred her female voice, and wished she could just remain as she was when he'd met her. At her question he laughed lightly "I know where to begin!" he said defensively, but with a smile plastered across his face. Sticking his hands in his pockets he shrugged. "Just because I can't sell one hundred papers like some people.." He gave her a sideways glance, smirking. It was something about her he'd heard from various newsies, something he assumed must be part of what made her the leader.

Prince glanced at him. "So i've had a good day here an' there," she said with a small smile. "Did your research huh?" she asked with more of a smirk. She kept her tone low to continue her boylike disguise.
"Okay, okay, so ya gotta start... it ain't so hard really, just gotta... get... the hang of it," she said. It's just a matter of finding a little headline... and then making it out as though it were the front page story. It's all in how ya sell it, it's a performance really."
(Feel free to post any where at distribution, I'll meet you there!)

((New Day))
Buttons walked to the door of Princes room timidly. She had ask around and everyone she had asked said that if she wanted to be a newsie in Queens to talk to Prince. Hugging Tubby, her stuffed bear, to her chest she knocked on the door and took a step back looking around at the walls and then to the ground as she waited.

Prince hadn't been home, in fact, she had just returned to the lodging house from getting her hair cut, and her make over completed. She looked like a boy head to toe, all traces of being a girl were gone, so there was no way that she was going to be recognized at all. She saw a small girl with a black eye waiting outside her room and Prince's heart stopped for a second. God... that had been all too familiar, she remembered when it was the other way around. Her frozen heart started to warm up a bit again. "Hey there kiddo," she said in a deep voice, just because she was a girl, didn't mean that this little girl got to know it yet. "What cha need?" she asked coming towards her. She wasn't threatening though, she was rather gentle with the little thing.

She jumped a bit and turned around hiding her face between her bears ears peeking out at the boy, well she thought it was a boy, before her. Lifting up her face she blinked a bit. "'I'm lookin' for Prince," She said quietly. "I wanna be a newsie, and everyone I asked said I needed to talk to him." She bit her lip and looked down and then back up. She was horrible shy and it took a while for her to warm up to anyone.

Prince nodded. "That's right kiddo," she said nodding. "So now ya found me," she said chuckling. "New around here, yeah?" she assumed. "Wull I'm Prince," she said crouching down slightly so that she could be at the girl's eye level. "And who might you be hmm?" she asked with a crooked smile.

Her eyes brightened when she learned that this was Prince and she gave him a small toothless smile, she had lost one of her front teeth naturally about a week before. "I was born here," She said clutching Tubby to her chest, by here she meant in Queens just a few blocks away. "I'm Clara, but everyone calls me Buttons." She held out the bear for it's own introduction. "and this is Tubby."

Prince chuckled deeply. "Nice to meet you Buttons, and hello tubby," she said shaking the bear's hand. "So you wanna be a newsie huh? You ever done it b'fore?" she said as she stepped by the kid and opened the door to her room. "c'mon in," she offered, leaving the door wide open so that she wouldn't be scared to come in. There were chairs inside, "have a seat," Prince motioned to them so she could sit down.

Buttons smiled when Prince shook Tubbys hand and nodded a bit. "I wanna be one, but I haven't done it." She said slowly following Prince into the room and looked around. Walking towards one of the chairs she climbed up and sat down placing the stuffed bear on her lap, "Is it hard ta sell papers?" She asked looking up at the older newsie.
