Spacious, with a ratty old couch and a few throw rugs. Not the most elegant of places, but the Bronx call it home.

Ace didn't find any trouble. And trouble didn't find him either. He did learn a lot more than he wanted to know in Queens though. He didn't want to feel so protective over everyone, but it was hard to break, and even though he wasn't leader anymore, he walked into the Bronx Lodging House with a big grin on his face, taking a deep breath and letting it out. He pulled his hat low on his head, so it disguised most of who he was, and just looked around.
Not much changed. Not much at all. He had to admit the city... his city... looked good. Dodger was doing more than a good job, but he wasn't sure how much he'd admit to out loud. It was just his pride (what he had) getting in the way. He didn't want to admit someone was better at running the Bronx than he had been.

"Didja see it mate?" he asked as he walked down the stairs hiding his shock very well. Dodger was that, he could hide his emotions very will if he wanted too. He was grinning when he said it, Ace Cardoni-- the MiA former leader of the Bronx. Not to mention Lucky's best mate so he had to have at least some knowledge of him. Besides-- he'd always looked over at Ace when he was a Manhattan boy and smirked a bit. Different Englands, New England was different then his Jolly Ol' England any day.

"Did I see what?" Ace tipped his head back to look at him coming down the stairs, pulling his hat back to grin back at him. The Bronx leader looked well (it was so weird for him to even think that, even though he'd known it. He wondered if it was weird for Red too, or if he was just cool about it like he was cool with everything) given the way the city was right now. "You're doing a good job." He finally conceded. "I was glad to hear it."
That was about as close to a compliment as he was getting out of him, at least while he was completely sober. And even drunk he had his secrets. But he smiled when he said it, so it was a compliment, and not anything but.

When he asked Dodger pointed out the window, "The flying pigs mate, I thought that would be the only time you'd ever grace this fine place again.." He came down the steps all the way, listened to what Ace had to say and he grinned holding out his hand.
"Thanks." he nodded at the compliments before he said. "Welcome back Mate.."

Ace laughed and pulled his hat from his head and stuck it in his back pocket, shaking his head. "Why are you so surprised I came back? This is the place I found myself in, what could keep me away?" His eyebrow rose before he reached out and took his hand. "Thanks. Though I heard from Prince it's not as relaxed here as I had hoped."
He sat down in a chair and watched him. "It's random, I know, but I was wondering if you'd mind terribly if I stayed here until I could find an apartment around here." He looked so terribly rich compared to this place, he needed to... do something to fix that.

Dodger shook his head as the other man found a spot on the couch and he dropped to the arm of the chair. He ran his own hand threw his hair and nodded, his signature hat was upstairs.
"Aye, mate, it's not all roses--" it was true, with the price hike the pressure on the leader was growing and luckily for him he wasn't cracking under the pressure. When Ace asked if he could stay Dodger laughed, "Aye, mate, but your not getting your room back-- I'm pretty fond of it.."

"So I heard." Ace replied dryly, just shaking his head. He still couldn't think of a good way to help. Wasn't sure there was one. "You doing okay?" He eyed him, more worried about how he was doing at the moment. If the leaders cracked even a little, their kids followed almost immediately. He'd found that out. He knew the other was stronger and tougher than he looked, but he was worried about him. As a friend.
"I wasn't going to ask." He chuckled, shaking his head and just leaning back. "It'll be just until I get an apartment, promise." He had the money, just had to find something he liked.

Dodger laughed and shook his head, "I'm fine mate, don't worry so much about the Artful Dodger I've been in worse scrapes than this-- and I stand by what I said. Striking isn't the right move but-- if they others go I will as well...."
"Yeah, yeah you can have a bunk up stairs.." he laughed ruefully. "Between you and Heather I'm up to my ears with old friends mate--" Even though Ace had never been his friend he was glad for the assistance.

Ace just smiled at him. He couldn't help it. He tended to worry about everyone when the situation calls for it. "It may or may not be the best thing to do, you'll never know until the time actually comes." He grinned and chuckled. "I've been hunting down a lot of mine. I missed them too much."
He hadn't had time to become his friend, not really. He supposed that would change now, if the other wanted. "Look, just a thought... But if I'm overstepping my bounds tell me. I offered to buy some food for Prince's kids. To keep in the lodging house so they're not spending all of whatever they'd make. I'd do that here too, if you'd let me." They could call it his payment for borrowing a bunk.

Perry came running in the room, completely outta breath. When he saw Dodger his smile widened and his eyes lit up but he looked behind himself a bit anxiously then he gave his full attention to Dodger. Not realizing that he was interupting a most likely important conversation that he shouldn't interupt. "Hey Dodger, what are you doing? I've been trying to get away from Lexi. She's spitting mad that I went to Brooklyn." He let out a little laugh and shrugged, "I met Spot Conlon, he great. Kind of short though, you guys didn't tell me he was short. Then again I'm shorter than him so I guess it isn't polite to say that. What do you think? I know Lexi would say it's rude."
Finally taking a breath as well as a seat he noticed Ace, "Hi! Are you a newsie to. You look older. Not to say your old, just older than me. Are you friends with Dodger? I love his hat trick. It's so neat, have you seen it?"

Dodger ruffled the kids hair and laughed, "Aye lad-- how are you?" He nodded to Ace. "This here is the old Bronx leader and a good mate to many around here.. Ace Cardoni.."

Perry grinned widely, "I'm good." When Dodger said Ace used to be a leader Perry turned to smile at him. Somehow Perry had gotten into his head that the newsie leaders had to be the most amazing people ever. After all Dodger and Spot in his opinion were like a slice of heaven on Earth. They were so interesting and everybody had stories to tell about them. "You used to be a leader? Why'd you leave? Didn't you like being a leader? Guess if you didn't leave though Dodger wouldn't be our leader. Dodger's great, don't you think?"

(New Day)
Dodger dropped into the large couch and folded his arms muttering about what was going on in the house, "Oh bloody hell." he grumbled as he leaned back and closed his eyes. Things were chaotic as it was, so much stress it was laughable that he figured he was getting to old for this.

South walked down the same stretch of sidewalk for what seemed like hours! Just back and forth, back and forth, back and forth...over and over and over. It wasn't like he had anything better to do. He had been in the city for only a day or two, and he knew it was time to find someplace to stay. It didn't matter if the place was permanent or not, he just had to find something!
His thoughts were interrupted when a tall and very wealthy gentleman walked past. South could already feel his fingers beginning to twitch. Back in London that gentleman would be known as quite a humble toff. South had robbed hundreds of gentleman such as he and never once got caught. He looked back and forth, not being able to resist. He sneaked up slyly, and reached his grubby hand into the man's pocket. He felt a big fat leather pocket and his sneaky grin grew. He pulled it out when the man turned and shouted, "HEY!"
South took off down the street, unfortunately, the bulls were now on the chase. He would have gotten away if it wasn't for his top hat which fell in his eyes, causing him to trip. The bulls had him up on his feet, and the gentlemen came up furious.
"Don't worry, we'll take care of the brat." One of the bulls said. They dragged him down the street to the Bronx lodging house and knocked on the door, waiting impatiently for an answer. They had a feeling South was one of those dirty little newsies. They didn't feel like handling him, they would just get him back with his own kind.
When the door opened, the bull pointed to the stocky kid in the tophat. "Would this be one of yours?" The bull asked roughly.
South kept quiet, though struggled a bit and scowled at the bull who had a tight grip on his arm.
