When they arrived at the game area, Gwennie immediately felt at home. The flashing lights, the people at the game booths calling out to everyone who walked by about the victory that could be imminant for them if they only played the game. "Dere it is!" she cried, grabbing fighter's hand and pulling her over to the ring toss, eager to display her skills.

Fighter laughed and followed Gwennie towards the ring toss, happy to see her as excited as she was. "Alright, kid, your gonna pull my arm off." She smiled to show she was kidding and as they got closer she examined the game. It didn't look incredibly difficult but she wanted to try her luck at knocking the pins down by throwing the ball at them. She'd always had pretty good aim, she was a Brooklyn newsie after all.

when they reached the game, Gwennie got out her money and bought a few rings from the man at the booth. "da trick is ta t'row 'em straight an' flat" she advised, holding one of the rings on both sides and tossing it outward. With this technique she managed to keep it flat, however, she hadn't thrown it high enough and it hit the side of the stand which held the bottles around which the ring was to be tossed. "dat's anuddah t'ing, sometimes it takes a few times ta get da right loft" she explained, not too disappointed that she hadn't succeeded on her first try. she grabbed a second ring and tossed it in the same fashion but slightly higher, yet again she didn't quite make it as the ring hit the edge of one of the bottles and fell. finally she grabbed the last ring and tossed it slightly more gently than before and it fell right on target, swinging sround the neck of the bottle a couple times before settling around it. "Yay! I made it!" she cried happily, jumping up and down. No matter how many times she won that game, it never lost it's splendor to her, she was just as excited then as the first time she had made the ring fall around the neck of the bottle three years earlier, with her brother cheering her on.

Fighter grinned when Gwennie won and slapped her back lightly in a congratulatory manner. She loved to see the girl this happy and was instantly taken with her love for such a simple game. "Wanna try again or do you wanna do a different game? I for one want to try the ball toss before we leave here." She waited for Gwennie to get her prize and answer her before she made a move to leave the stand.

"Hold on, I gotta get my prize first " answered Gwennie, observing the array of dolls and stuffed animals lining the walls of the booth. "I want dat one" she said to the proprietor of the game, pointing enthusiastically at a small ragdoll sitting on a shelf at the back of the booth. "I'm gonna name 'er Lizzie" she stated, fondly stroking the doll's head and cradling it gently against her chest for a moment before turning to Fighter " now we can go ta da ball toss" she said, smiling broadly.

Fighter grinned and began walking towards the ball toss, "I like your doll, Gwennie. Lizzie's a nice name." She nodded her head with the last part and pulled some money out of her pocket as they approached the ball toss. She gave the vendor her money and took the balls, aiming low and hard at the balls. The first one was about three inches too far to the right and the second just grazed the top bottle knocking it off, with the third she managed to knock off the last two and grinned down at Gwennie. "Looks like you can have two prizes."

"Neat!" cried Gwennie, enthusiastically, half excited about getting another prize and half impressed that fighter had so easily knocked the balls over. Every time she had tried in the past she had failed horribly and lost a fairly signifigant amount of money on it. "But wait" she said suddenly, looking confused "don't you want ya prize? Ya don' hafta give it ta me if ya wanna have it" she assured, not wanting to keep Fighter from the prize that she had earned.

Fighter laughed and shook her head, "Nah I'm okay, kid, unless they got some pre-rolled smokes back there you can pick a prize." Fighter didn't need the prize, she certainly wasn't interested in the things she saw, but she knew Gwennie would love it. "Go ahead, Gwennie, pick your prize."

Gwennie giggled at Fighter's joke "I'll choose... dat one!" she said, pointing to a stuffed lion with a mane made of yarn. Bouncing up and down as she waited for the man at the booth to bring it to her. As he carried it over she stretched out her arms to recieve it. As soon as she put her hands on it, she cradled it against her chest with one hand, as the other was occupied with her doll. "I'm gonna call 'im Frederick" she stated proudly, clenching his leg with the hand not occupied by Lizzie and hugging Fighter around the waist. "Dis is jus' great" she said enthusiastically "I haven't had dis much fun heah since I went wit' my bruddah"

Fighter grinned, "Well I'm glad you're having fun. Is there anything else you'd like to do?" It was getting kind of late, but Fighter didn't mind she just didn't want to keep Gwennie out too late. She also had a few things she had to get done before the night was out but she wasn't extremely worried about them.

Gwennie thought for a moment, swinging Lizzie and Frederick by her side "Do ya think dat I'm tall enough ta go on da horse racin' ride?" she asked, doubting that she was. In years previous the ride, which consisted of long metal tracks on which mechanical horses zipped past at speeds nearly incomprehensible to Gwennie's young brain, had been restricted to people of a certain height. Gwennie was not quite sure what exactly the height cutoff was but she was almost positive that it was taller than her.

Fighter glanced at the ride and immediately shook her head, "Not quite yet, probably a couple more years before you can ride that one." She also would be afraid something would happen to the young girl. "Lets play one more game before we head back to the lodging house, does that sound good?"

"Okay" replied Gwennie, in a semi dejected voice. she had really been hoping against hope that she would finally be able to ride the mechanical horses this year but she understood that there were rules that she had to follow and that she would just have to accept the fact that she would have to wait a little bit longer. "Let's try da plinko, I nevah really done dat one befoah. I don't undahstand what I'm s'posed ta do in it" she commented, a puzzled look making its way onto her face.

Fighter patted Gwennie's shoulder, "Soon enough you'll be able to ride it." Fighter looked in the direction of the plinko game and smiled. Her uncle had loved that game almost as much as the ball toss. Of course, he had loved it purely because it would make her happy since everytime she played she won. "It's easy, all you gotta do is drop the ball and wherever it lands you get to pick a prize from the place wit' t'at number."
