He chuckled and took the smoke, sighing with some relief. "Ah, she's a smart one, Alanna. Not like those hoity toity little belles back home.." He grinned down at her. "You're pretty smart yourself, cher. About the only interesting person I've met that I haven't wanted to shoot.." He pulled some matches out of the back pockets of his jeans. "Refreshing, you're not like any other girl.. and that's what so fun about you.."

Maggie laughed and rolled herself one and lit both their cigarettes. "Now now...you haven't known me that long--I could suddenly turn into everyone else. I could just be decieving you." She flashed a grin and tugged on her curls as she took a long drag on the smoke.

He looked at her and laughed with a wink, "Well cher, I look at it this way, you could either be fooling a poor country boy who doens't know any better, or you could be someone I might want to get to know a bit.." He took a long drag and sighed, he'd missed those. His brother Trevo had a thing about them. "..either way I get the pleasure of seeing your sparkling wit in action.." He grinned, he was being sincere. Benji wasn't the kind of guy to blow smoke up someone's ass. Well, unless he was in a jam.

Maggie smirked. "Well it is Saturday...with no work tomorrow...now, like a good country boy, do you like to drink til you cant remember the name of your own mother?" She laughed lightly. She liked this one. He was interesting, and his personality seemed to compliment hers well enough.

Benji clutched his chest almost dramatically and rested his hand on her shoulder, "Maggie, you are a woman after my own heart." He grinned at her, his dark eyes dancing with amusement as they so often did. "Want to run away with me?"

Maggie grinned and blushed a bit and ptu a hand on his shoulder as well, gasping. "Oh my! thinking the same thing I am!" She laughed and shook her head. "Alochol. Brings people together." She winked and took a long drag off her cigarette.

((lol omg.. they make me laugh))
He nodded and grinned when she blushed, it was pretty, she was a lovely girl and a fun one to boot. Only in New York could you find someone like that. Well or in San Fran. "Right you are, cher. And I drink with the best of them.."

((I <3 them so much))
Maggie smirked. "Well then I guess that's why you are going to drink with me." She finally took her hand off his shoulder and tugged on a curl, a bit of nerve slipping into her psyche. "And I suppose you are a fluke in the world of Southern Boys." She laughed.

Benji grinned at her. "Well, it all depends on how look at it, cher. I don't see myself as a fluke, just one of the better ones. I've got four older brothers and two younger. We're all a handful, our maman says.." The smile never wavered or the playfulness in his eyes. "We drink and know how to have a good ol' time. That's what life is, just one very long party."

Maggie laughed. "Aye..well maybe your family is a fluke then.." She grinned, her hazel eyes sparkling. "But then again perhaps I shouldn't trust you just yet." She winked and stood up, dusting off her leather skirt. "I believe that actions speak louder than words."

"Do you now?" He raised a brow and then he grinned. "Well, we'll go drinking tomorrow, cher. Have us a grand ol' time and see what actions we take, how does that sound?"

Maggie chuckled. "I think that sounds just fine, Benji." She offered him her hand to help him up. "Come on...I should show you how to clean these things..." She sighed and coughed a bit. "Stupid cotton."

He raised a brow at the cough and took her head getting to his feet, he'd heard stories about this kind of thing. But, he was to old to sell newspapers. "Alright, cher.. how long you been here?"

Maggie shrugged tugging on her curls. "Hmm...six, seven months about. Maybe closer to a year." She laughed. "Time tends to just run together you know." She winked. "Is fine...don't worry. Everyone gets a cough--but I'm made of tougher stuff. Takes a lot more and some divine intervention to kill me."

He actually hoped she was, this place, and places like them could kill you fast or kill you slow. "I don't plan on being here to long, I'll find some work out in the shipyards soon enough.."
