Maggie smirked. "Ach so instead of a slow death you would like a fast death by crushing." She winked. "We just choose our battles, I suppose." She shrugged. "Frankly, I like horses."

He raised both his brows as he studied her, before he grinned. "Always liked them myself.." Benji shook his head, running his hand threw his dark hair. "It's not that, about the docks, cher. I'm a moonshiner.. but can't do much of that in a Big City like this.."

Maggie blushed. "Sorry...I tend to run my mouth..." She nodded. "Well suppose you can't, but you could always try..but you could run into a nasty death with that too. Crushed and stabbed and shot....messy messy.." She chuckled.

Benji flashed her a grin and laughed, "Well that's half the fun, cher. Sitting at a desk all day at some big bank just isn't for me. I like to get my hands dirty.." He winked at her and folded his arms behind his head. "So. what do you want to do with horses?"

Maggie shrugged. "Race them, tricks...sell them. You know..Trading...see the world a bit more." She ran a hand through her hair. "Though that sounds pretty humdrum, the trading part, but it can be pretty interesting. My father used to be friends with a horse trader, he taught me a lot.." She paused. "Gee. Again, I ramble when I'm excited." She laughed.

He grinned, "I like hearing you ramble, cher. Your eyes light up when you talk of things you like.." It was true, and he wasn't feeding her lines. Benji believed everything he said. "I've always liked horses, we need them back home when the roads are clear, can't use the skiff to get threw the bayou to town. We'd rather use the surrey, or at least my sister would..."

Maggie blushed and shoved him a bit. "Mmm...southern charm. Still won't fall for it." She winked. "Sounds like an adventureous, interesting life.." She smirked. "I used to steal horses all the time to get away from people I swindled out of their pape money.."

He grinned, "Again, run away with me?" He couldn't help it, he hadn't had this much fun talking to a girl in awhile. She was nothing like the belles.. and that suited him just fine. They were pretty to look at but nothing underneath.

Maggie laughed. "Keep saying that, big boy, and I might just take you up on it--then where would you be?" She was at ease with him, which was a nice change. He didn't judge her...he just seemed to be interested in having a lark. It was good.

"Is that a promise?" he asked with a wiggle of his brows.

Maggie shoved him gently and shook her head. "Impossible--really that's what you are." He laughed.

Benji grinned and tugged on one of her curls, "I am, but that's what people find so charming about me..." Really it was rarely the southern boy thing though the accent helped.

Maggie rolled her eyes. "Perhaps--but I'm determined to not find you charming for that." She winked and readjusted her leather skirts. "Work is over in a few hours.." She left it hanging in the air, unsure why.
