*New Day* Buck walked in, he had swipped a hot dog and a pretzel from the conession stand at the racetrack; not knowing which Jennifer would like. He turned, and waited for her to enter; he was sure she was right behind him.

She came in a few moments after he did, smiling with her hands behind her back. She had never been back here before...never anywhere near here before... and it was a little exciting for her. Although he had, and she realized it was annoying, to see her bouncing all over the place, so she mentally told herself to tone it down.

Buck smiled, he could tell she was happy. "You like it." He said looking around at all the horses. His eyes were half closed; it was how he usually held them, but it also had to do with the fact he wasn't truly awake. If you were to think Cowboy, you'd think of them waking up early and going right out on there horses, and having a great time. No, not all of them were morning people; and Buck wasn't on of them. He had trouble in the morning, but knew he had to get work done. That was the only thing that got him out of bed.
"Oh, here; pick one." He said, holding out the pretzel and hotdog. He spoke slowly and quietly; more so than usual. This was due to the fact that he was still tired.

Jennifer nodded, looking around with this grin on her face. "I do. I really do." It was amazing to think she finally got to be around horses, although she was still feeling a bit... worried about them. They were gigantic to her, and she knew what they could do if they got angry. Most of her fear, however, came from the fact she had never really been around one before. She didn't know what to expect, really.
She noticed he wasn't quite awake, and she smiled softly as he offered her the food. She pursed her lips and met his eyes. "Which one do you want?"

Buck smiled and shook his head, "Oh, we're going to play this game." He blinked a few times, trying to wake up a bit more. "I'll take what you don't want, I'm not picky about food; I'll eat just about anything." He said, looking down at the food. He gave his head a quick shake, waking himself up a little more; she he didn't look that tired.

Jennifer laughed. She couldn't help it. Really. "Ah, good sir, but I am the master of this game." She took the food from him, and split them both in half, before handing him back a half of each. She gave him a sincere smile and leaned her hip against an open stall door.
"Thank you, by the way, for everything."

Buck couldn't help but give a chuckle after what she did. He looked down to the food he had taken from her, then to her food. "Works for me." He said through his laughs.
At her thank you, he looked at her, a little confused, "All I did was talk to you, and let you come here." He didn't think it was such a big deal... yes, he liked being with her, but he was actually nervous he wasn't doing enough for her.

Jennifer smiled at him, her eyes glittering in amusement. When he looked at her, confused, she tilted her head to the side, biting at her bottom lip a bit. "Maybe, but that goes a long way. You wouldn't believe how many people would rather not even talk to you, and even then, some of them rarely understand what you say."
She shrugged a bit. "I appreciate that, and I appreciate you bringing me here. It actually means a lot to me... Although I guess that sounds stupid, huh?"

Buck shook his head, "I could tell bringing you here was someting you liked; considering how quickly you got ready." He told her, happy to make her so happy. "But, I didn't know talking and, just, listening to you was something big here... not that I don't want to make you happy." He added that last part, not wanting her to think that he didn't like her. "I guess, I just need to learn more about the ways of the city." He said with a shrug, and a bite of food.
"In Texas, if you passed someone, you said hello, and if either of you weren't doing much, you might start a conversation; even if you didn't really know the person." He told her. He would have to be less outgoing; wouldn't want people here to think him crazy for saying hi and talking to strangers all the time.

Jennifer took a bite of her hot dog thoughtfully. "Well, it's sorta like that here. Except its really only around the newsies. Even then, though, like everywhere, you'll find people who don't want to talk to you. It's just the way the world is, I guess." She flashed him a smile. She really didn't know.
"But Texas really sounds nice. Makes me wish I could get away from here for a while." She shrugged and finished up her food.

Buck smiled and nodded, "Ok, maybe I'll hang out with Newsies more." He said. "They sound like mighty fine people." He looked around, taking a last bit of Hot Dog, and almost finished his Pretzle. "I gotta clean some stalls, and hay the stalls; do whatever you want. You can follow me, or anything." He told her, turning and walking towards a wheelbarrow and pitch fork.

"They can be." Jennifer agreed with a smile. It wasn't often the newsies were called mighty fine anything, unless the word 'disturbance' came after. Popping the last of her own pretzle into her mouth, she looked at him, hand running through her hair abesntly.
"Want some help?" She asked after a second. Sure, she was pretty sure he coudl handle it, and sure, she didn't know exactly what to do, but he could teach her, right? Besides, she really would have liked to help him out then do anything else.

Buck was just finishing the last of his food when he turned. He nodded his head (it would have been rude to talk with food in his mouth). He turned back and grabbed a wheelbarrow and pitch fork. He swalled the food and spoke, "You know how to muck out a stall?" He asked. He shrugged, "Prob'ly not, well... How 'bout this. I'll get two jobs done at once." He said, grabbing a wheelbarrow full of hay. "What you do is follow me, and once I've mucked out a stall, throw 2 flakes of Hay into the Gate like think in the back of the stall." He explained. He walked to the hay, "This is a flake." He said, picking up a piece of hay. The hay broke easily into 12-13 pieces, each flake just a square of hay. "Well... um... let's go." He said, starting to clean one of the stalls; the first two were simple, not much in them... the third was pretty bad. Someone had seem to have skipped this one last night.

Jennifer listened to what he said, nodding. Eating the rest of her food, she threw the flakes of hay into the stall like he had told her to do. She wanted to be able to help him with the mucking, but she would probably have gotten in the way anyway. So she threw her hay down when it was needed, blowing a strand of her hair from her face. She took the time after that to watch him.

Buck smiled, "You're doing fine." He wanted to give her to have no doubt that what she was doing was correct. He walked up to another stall, and looked at the mare, who's ears were pinned down hard. "Be careful of her. If you want, you can just throw the hay in; you don't need to put it in the holder." he said as he walked into the stall; sure to avoid ending up behind the mare; he didn't want to get kicked. He walked out unharmed, and did a few more. He made sure he could see Jennifer in the corner of his eye, just in case the mare did anything stupid or evil.
