Zipper didn't enjoy talking about families, seeing as how hers abandoned her. "I taught me everything I know." she said quietly, not taking her eyes from his. Her dark eyes seemed to look right through his. 'soul searching' her 'adopted' grandmother once called it.

"What? Do I have something on my face?" Checkers smiled and put his hands over his face. "If you taught you all you know, you must be pretty smart." Checkers looked back into her eyes and smiled. "Can I carry you and run around now?" he asked making puppy odg big eyes.

"You let tha weather get to you that easily?" Checkers wiped the hay off of his clothes, there was probably some in his hair too but he didn't worry about it. "I guess the weather has been pretty bad, but that don't mean you gotta...smile, it makes meh happy to see ya smillin'."
