She smiled softly as he ordered. She still felt uncomfortable around all of these wealthier people but was slowly becoming more and more able to ignore the cruel stares. She sighed, her hands out on the table.

Robbie sat back in his chair, watching as Mollie shifted around uncomfortably from time to time. He wondered how he could put her mind at ease. He slowly reached out and gently patted her hand.

She looked up at him with a slight smile. "Sorry...." she said. "I'se jest aint used teh bein around all dese... wealthier folk..." she said, trying to keep herself still. With her other hand she took her glass of water, sipping it soundlessly. While she was a 'street rat' she hadn't always been and had been brought up well; good manners, good clothes, the works. That always seems to change, though, when your caretakers pass on and you end up dirty and on the street again.

Robbie was starting to feel bad that he had chosen this place. "Well I can always have the waitor pack up our lunch? We could sit someplace outside, enjoy nature."

She shook her head no. "No... its fine. I'd like to stay here." she said, not wanting to let these other people the upper hand. "I'll be fine..." she added, shifting her gaze back to him. "Why do you suggest it?" she asked quietly, "Am I embarrasin you?"

"What? Of course not, I just dont want you to feel uncomfortable thats all." He wasnt embarassed at all, just worried that the rude stares from the other patrons were hurting her feelings.

She shrugged, "I dont really mind em lookin at me... Ise got as much of a right teh eat heah as they do." she said. She had been uncomfortable initially but was now enjoying her ability to make them feel more awkward. It was all good fun, really.

She looked at the food and tried to ignore the rumbling in her stomach. She'd been doing a little too much informing about theft to be making much money these days and her diet has been lacking because of it. "Yeah, it does..." she saidm anxious.

"Amazing." she said after tucking her napkin down into her lap. "The best food I've had in a long while." she said. It was actually the only food she'd had in a long while that wasn't half rotten, but even besides that it was good.

"Good, I'm glad youre enjoying it." Robbie sipped some of his coffee, he was going to need it, he was planning on working the late shift at Tibby's that night. "Soo how long have you lived in New York?"

Hattie thought about it. "Well, I dont know really. Probably a few years now.. I used to live in Boston.... and then one day I forgot to wake up early and get out of the boxcar I was livin' in and I got shipped off to New York." she said with a smile. It was quite true, actually, but it also made for a very fun story.

Beaming, she shook her head no. She loved this installment of her life story. "No, I'm not, really. I lived in the trainyards in Boston... like I said, Im a thief, not a millionaire. I forgot to wake up early enough one morning and was carted off to New York." she said, sighing.
