Buck walked in, looking like... well, a cowboy in the big city. His eyes shifted around, and he got a good sense of the place. "Well, we can go to the bar stools." He said, seeing two next to eachother. "Right there." He said, looking at the food other people had, and starting to like the place. "This is a right 'ole place you got here; has it all." He said, walking towards the bar stools.

Cards laughed and made her way over to the bar stools, sitting down. The bartender walked over. "What can I get you?" Cards reached into her pocket and found out how much change she had on her. "I'll 'ave a toikey san'wich an' a watah."

Buck looked at her, her accent was so... unusual. He looked back to the bartender, "I'll have some water, and a ham and turkey sandwich with cheddar cheese, please." He said, reaching into his pocket, and feeling the roll of money his father had given him; making sure he still had it. Buck placed his hand over her hand that held the money, "Nah, I got it." He said. "You were kind enough to join me, so I'll pay." He said, with a smile. He withdrew his hand when he was sure she had gotten the idea, and looked back around.

Cards bit her lip. It wasn't her way to let someone else pay for her. She looked down at his hand that was covering hers and up at his face. "Well, if youah suah." she glanced at the bartender. "T'anks." "I'll be right back." he said, walking away. Cards shoved the coins back into her pocket. "Thanks foah buyin' me food."

Buck gave a nod, "You're welcome." He said, removing his hat. He placed it down next to him. He turned back and leaned against the table, thinking about Cards. He was thinking about how other's in New York would be, because she had only been here a few days, not enough to actually become just like the Yanks.

He turned his head towards her, loosing his train of thought. "Wha, oh. Just thinking about what New York is going to be like, once I really start to meet people." he said. "Not to be rude to you, but, as you said, you just came here." He said to her, trying not to be rude. "Really just thinking about how different New York might be, compared to Texas."

Cards nodded. "I know what yah mean. No need tah worry." she paused. "I'm thinkin' New Yawk is a lot diff'rent den Texas. 'Course I've nevah been dere, so i's not faiah foah me tah judge." She shrugged. "'S diff'rent den Boston, dat's foah soah."

Buck smiled, "Well, I've never been to Boston, but I'm sure if it's different than here, then Texas must be very different." He said, eyes wide. He knew about New York, but never thought it was this different. "I'm sure I'll survive, though." he said with a laugh.

Cards laughed. "Suah yah will! Youah tough!" She was still chuckling as the bartender brought their food. "Thanks." She ate a bite of her sandwich and sighed. "I'se can' remembah da last time I ate anyt'ing dis good." she swallowed. "Last Friday, I t'ink."
((And I have to go, so I'll reply on Monday. ))

((ok, bye)) Buck smiled, and started eating. The food wasn't as good as home, but it was a lot better than the train food. "You want good food, you should see what we get in Texas." He said, very proudly. "You get a big pot and place it over a roarin' fire, then you fill it with meat, corn... why, anything." his eyes lit as he remembered. "Then you cooked it up right, and poured some onto a flat tortilla and just ate your fill. There was always enough for everyone who wanted some."

Cards swallowed the food that was in her mouth before she answered. "Dat's an interestin' way tah cook food. In Boston we jus' used a stove."

Buck shrugged, "It was just the way things were done there." He said, kinda missing the his old home. "Well, nomatter how it's done, as long as it's cooked well, food is food."
