Buck nodded, "Yeah, I've heard about New york, but never knew how big and busy it really was." He said. "It was interesting, but it wasn't the whole story. It's more of a shock to actually experience it." He looked around as he spoke, as if expecting to see something he didn't notice before. "I never know what's gonna happen next, here."

Buck shook his head, "Ma'm, I've spent a life on my toes, and this is something completely different." He had never realized that you would have to watch out for things, yet have two different feelings. "I've had to watch for Coyots, stray vaquero, bulls chargin' at you, and just about anything; but this is something completely different." He thought for a moment, "I mean, I guess it's just because I don't know how to react when something happened; I'm as calm as a river in a drought when a bull comes charging, but when... well, anything happens here, I don't know what to do."

"I guess that's the way it's gonna work." He said with a shrug. "I know I'm not gonna make that big of an impact here." He would have liked to get the city more like the country, but how would he get that done? "Not to be rude, but I'm kinda hoping not to pick up your accent; they'd ridicule me at home."

Cards was quiet for a minute thinking. "How d'yah know yah won' make dat big o' an impact? Yah keep thinkin' like dat an' yah won't, dat's foah soah." She wasn't being accusatory or rude; she was just stating what she knew. She paused and grinned. "An' you don' like me accent, huh? Well, if 's all da same to youse, I'se kinda hopin' youah's don't rub off on me."

Buck shrugged, "I don't really wanna make a big impact anyways, to be honest." He thought of his family; all he really wanted was to get enough money for his family and to head home. "I just wanna make a good living."
He smiled, "Well, how about you keep your accent, and I'll keep mine." He reached his hand out to shake on it.

"Well, glad we can come to an agreement." He said. He looked to see their food placed in front of them. He smiled and gladly took a bite of his food. "Pretty good." He said with a shrug. Nothing like home, but still good.

Buck shook his head, "I'm not gonna be a newsie." He had liked the life of the newsies; selling papes, hoping to get money. It was an exciting life; but not his life. "I work at the Sheepshead Stables." He told her. "A stable hand." He took another big bite of his food.

Cards snorted into her glass of water, effectivley inhaling some. As she coughed, she tried valiantly to keep from laughing. After the coughing fit died down, she looked up. "I shoulda known. There's no uddah place foah you tah woik is dere?"

Buck laughed and shook his head. "Nope, can't think of any other place." After taking another bite of food, he spoke, "I was happy when I heard that there was a stable; so I wouldn't have to learn a new thing; with the stable, I got a job with things I already knew." He smiled, then returned the question, "How 'bout you? Where do you get money?"

Still chuckling, Cards answered. "I'se a newsie. Oah at least I'm tryin' ta be a newie. I'se tend ta be a little too straightfoahwahd. Sca-ahs people, I'm told." She shrugged. "I've come tah realize dat i's a loined process."

Buck gave a slow, shake with his head. "Well, you haven't scared me." He told her. "I think if you were selling me a newspaper, I might buy one." He kinda wanted a paper, because he wanted to read what was going on in New York.
