((new night))
Blink layed back on his bed, a cigarette dangling from between his lips. It was rare, lately, to see him in the lodging house, basically because he had dissapeared as of late. No one had really seen him, except for the Bronxs' Moira.

Race walked through the door, immediately going to his can to look for a cigar. Cursing under his breath slightly he glanced over at his patched friend, lying on the the bed he previously called his own. "Heya Kid, glad ta see you're enjoyin' my bed still," he said with a smirk, taking a seat across from Blink on Tumber's bed. ""aven't seen ya much lately, wheah ya been?"

"Ah, out and about." Blink grinned, pulling the cigarette away from his mouth slightly. "I was seein If I can get a job down at the docks, for when I get too old for this newsie stuff." His grin was crooked, and his eyes sparkled. "But you're just the guy i wanted to see. Care for a game?"

Race, ignoring the last question as if it were too obvious, pulled out his deck and began to shuffle. "Too old huh? Not somethin' I like thinkin' 'bout. Why the sudden concoin?" he asked, keeping his eyes on his friend as his hands shuffled the cards with expertise.

Blink sat all the way up, blowing some smoke into the air as he did so, slowly as he thought it over. "Because you cant stop it, Race. Im gettin older, and its gettin harder to sell." He sighed, shaking his head. "You can keep it up, I cant....And I guess, I dont want to end up a homeless orphan starvin on da streets."

Race shrugged, dealing out the cards on the small table between the beds. "So how soon ya thinkin' 'bout leavin'?" He grabbed a cigarette from his pocket and lit it, taking a long drag before picking up his cards.

"Heck, not for a while." He picked up his own, rolling his own cigarette between his lips. "Not in da wintah, obviously. Maybe next summer. Spring."

Race just nodded silently, placing two of his cards on the table and grabbing two new ones from the pile.
"Why suddenly so ambitious? Not like ya got a goil ta take care of." he laughed lightly, shaking his head.

"Not yet, no." He replied off hand, taking up a card for himself. But really, it didn't matter. He could be ambitious for himself, couldn't he?

He shrugged again, removing his cigarette and placing it between his fingers that held his cards. "Jist sayin', I mean, you wanna go find your fortune some place else I aint gonna stop ya, I'm still waitin' for my big break at da tracks an' all. Jist gonna miss seein' ya round heah." He slapped a nickle on the table, his face giving away nothing of his hand.

"Aw, don't get teary eyed and sentimental on me, Race." He chuckled, amused, but face a blank. Anyone who played with Racetrack Higgins needed to have a good poker face, or it wouldn't be much of a game. Flipping his own nickle onto the table, he raised an eyebrow slightly. "Well, when you hit that big break, make sure I'm around to congratulate you."

He smirked. "Well cleah ya calendah then, cause it's gonna be any day now." Shoving a hand in his pocket he pulled out a dime and placed it on the table, raising a cocky eyebrow to his friend.

Eyebrow raising even higher, Blink chuckled, reaching into his own pocket, and pulling out his own shining dime, setting it next to Race's own. "I'll keep that in mind."

Expression unchanging, he looked from his hand to the money already on the table. Feeling his pocket he sighed, torn between raising and folding. His straight wasn't a bad hand, but he had also told Hawkeye he'd take her out to dinner. Although if he did win, perhaps they could even get dessert? Grinning her flicked a quarter onto the table.

For a moment, Blink's eyes flickered to his hand, and he matched the other's bet. He silently thanked Moira, because there little lesson had left him with a good day of selling. "What about you, huh? Aftah you win, whatcha gonna do?"
