Murder snorted. Her father's mistress had been a gypsy and read cards as well. She had taught her meanings. "I was taught 7 of diamonds just an unresolved question, answer will be more difficult." She didn't know how that factored into her and Wolf, but she knew her past had many unanswered questions.
She did not dispute the next cards interpretations, and neither could dispute Wolf's cards, except to say "...8 of spades could also mean an attempt to escape one's problems."
"...10 of spades...can mean through defeat, a new life will come. So I don't see any sadness in that. Mostly..if you stop fighting and make correct decisions..our lives will be fine."
She stood up. "...thank you. The cards gave me the information that I needed." She said nothing Isabela. The cards were correctly chosen, just interpreted wrong. But that was the art of the tarot.
She limped towards the opening in the tend, and before disappearing, threw out. "I'd study the art a bit more if I were you..." And disappeared, limping out of sight.

Isabela watched girl go. So she didn't know everything. She knew what her mother taught her, that was what she knew. It wasn't her job to interperate the cards anyway, that was for the reader to do, she just offered helpful suggestions on what it might indicate, or what might happen. She never knew for sure. She couldn't help but feel a little resentment towards the girl. But it was all too likely that she had seen better days. Isabela shrugged off statements, and made mental notes about what the three cards she had read meant. She cleared her table and started shuffling her cards once again to get them mixed up before anyone else showed up.

But the lul didn't last long. For next to arrive was the Queens leader, Prince. She'd heard about this new gypsie lady on Coney Island. Sounded like something interesting, so she'd go and look into it. She wouldn't get a reading for herself. She knew everything she wanted to know. She wasn't worried about her anyway, she was worried for Ace. She hadn't seen him in a while, hoped he was okay.
She came in the tent relaxed and appearing a boy as she looked at the woman shuffling the cards. "You dat gypsie dat tells fortunes?" she asked Isabela. Though she was pretty sure this was her.

Isabela looked up with a start at the girl who had just arrived. She continued shuffling her cards however. Looks like she was having quite the busy day. "Yes I am, how may I help you?" she asked with her always flirtatious smile on her face.

Prince looked at Isabela for a moment. Interesting smile she had there. She shook her head and made sure that she kept her voice pitch low and her appearance boyish. "Yeah, I came ta have ya do a readin' for me if ya could. But it ain' for me, it's for a friend of mine. Could ya do it?" Prince asked hopefully.

She stopped shuffling for a moment as she studied the girl. "Well I suppose I could," she said nodding. "What kind of reading, and is it a child, a young or old person, and boy or girl?" She continued shuffling the deck once she was through with her questions.

Prince thought about the questions for a moment. "Uhhh... a... normal readin'?" she didn't know what to ask for. "Oh, and a young guy. I just wanna know if I can find out about what's gonna happen ta him." Maybe that would help figure out just what Prince wanted done.

Isabela nodded. "Alright, a young man..." she'd do a basic reading. "Anything specific at all you want done? What would you like to focus on? Material things, power, emotional issues, or just stick to keeping it general?" she asked, the cards still flying in her hands.

"Just keep it general, a basic readin' should be fine," Prince said as she sat down in the chair across from Isabela. She rested her hands on the table waiting to see her do her stuff.

Isabela nodded to the boy infront of her and started looking through her deck. She soon found the Jack of clubs. "This will represent that friend of yours. But it's just for this reading, not for the rest of your lives, know that," she reminded them. "Also, the reading will be ten cents," she said as she shuffled the cards a couple more times. When she was satisfyed she started laying the cards out in the most common form. First a row of three, then a card set to the side half way down from the first row. Antoer row of three, the middle card of the second row was on top of the Jack, and another card set off half way down from the second row. One last row of three and it was ready. "Before I bein I'd simply like to tell you that I am reading the cards, the interpritation must be done by you, or if you give the message to your friend, then he can interperate them for himself in his own way.
She started with the first card in the first row, in the upper left hand corner. "This card opposed this boy in the past," she said as she turned it over. It was the two of clubs. "This card means simplicity, it's also known as the circle. Perhaps your friend had a more simple time in his life, and it has only made things for him harder now." Just offering suggestions as she tended to do.
Next was the second card in the first row. "This affected your friend in the past," she said. She turned the card over to reveal the Queen of Diamonds. "This could mean two things. It could be a woman of material wealth, or it could mean vanity. Now, the boy himself may not have been a vain person, but someone around him easily could have been." She nodded slightly in saying this making sure the other understood.
She moved onto the third card in the first row. "This card assisted your friend in his past." She turned the Queen of Clubs face up on the table. "This could also mean two things. It could be a woman of great mental capacity or perhaps mean Equilibrium. That's when everyting balances out, good and bad, black and wite, so on and so forth." She chuckled a little. The last one hadn't been an example, it made her smile though. But, moving on.
"This card here," she said as she pointed to the card half way between the first and second row, "represents the transition between the past and the present." She turned the card over showing the three of diamonds. "This means Honesty," she said nodding. "In some cases it could also be lack there of," once again offering suggestions, "or perhaps he's been particularly honest as of late?"
The next row was the row representing the present. "The card on the far right," she said, "is opposing your friend at the current time." It was a black joker, which in Isabela's deck represented, "the death card." She always hated seeing this card. It was a bit scary to her. "It may be the death of someone else though. Keep that in mind," she said hurridly before she moved on without a second thought.
"This card is affecting him in the present," she said. She soon turned over the Jack of Hearts. "This, like the Queens can mean two things. It could either be a young man with strong emotions, or it could be Jealousy. That could be jealousy of someone, or something, or just about anything." She looked back at the set up. So far so good.
Next was the last card in the second row. "This card is assisting your friend currently," she said with an optomistic smile. She turned over the five of Spades. "This card means Competition. Being in competition can infact be a good thing, especially when it is assisting you," she reminded the other.
The next card was the card half way between the second and third row. "This card is the transition between the present and future." She turned it over to find the ten of Clubs. "This means Immaturity. Perhaps your friend will do something childish. Or perhaps others will treat him as though he were a child." She shrugged a little, once again, just pure conjecture.
"Now this entire row represents the future," she explained. "This card," pointing to the far left hand corner, "will oppose your friend in the future." She turned the card over to reveal the Queen of Hearts. "This card, like the others means two things. It could be a woman with great emotion, or it could also mean Compassion. Keep in mind that it will be opposing your friend in the future. He may show compassion for someone that will get him into trouble. Or perhaps someone else will."
"The next card represents what will affect him in the future," she said as she turned over the card in the middle of the last row. Here she found the six of hearts. "This card means Regret. More than likely, he will regret something that he's done in his past, when it comes back to show him that he shouldn't have done it in the first place." Or so was her best guess.
There was only one card left that was still face down. "This card will assist you friend in the future," she said. She turned it over to show the seven of spades. "This card represents Humilitation. Perhaps his own, or perhaps one of another, but see it as a good thing, remember that, for it will assist him," she reminded her.
Since the reading was now complete Isabela smiled as she folded her hands in her lap. "Any questions?" she asked Prince with a smile.

Prince shook her head. "Nah, but lemme write it down." Prince took out a piece of paper and wrote down everything and where it was. She remembered most, and the ones she forgot she asked about. When she was done she folded up the paper and put it back in her pocket. "Thanks... ma'am." She had never asked her name. Oh well, bit late now. She waved to her and headed back out the door.

((new day))
Jennifer, who had heard from a friend of a friend about these readings, carefully walked into the tent, looking around curiously. She was always interested in these things, and loved cards. Although her luck with them had always been sorely lacking.

Isabela came out from the back room when she heard someone enter her tent. "Oh hello there," she said with a smile to the girl and a wave. "How can I help you?" she asked.

Jennifer smiled back at her, brushing a strand of hair from her face. "I was going to see if it would be too much trouble to get a reading done about me and a friend of mine."

Isabela shook her head. "Of course not, have a seat," she said indicating a chair across the table from herself. "I need a few answers first. One, I assume you want a two person reading, that's just fine. Two, what kind of focus would you like? Emotions, material possesions, power, or just a general reading?" As she spoke she shuffled her cards as usual.
