"I am," he snapped, annoyed with her trusting nature. He'd been around longer, he's the one who would know. Sighing, her already felt guilty for his outburst. His dark eyes glanced up and caught her's. "Listen, I'm sorry okay? I just . . ." He didn't finish his statment, instead he snubbed out his cigar and stood. "I should just go." He knew he wasn't in the right mood to be talking to a lady, much less one so nice as this. He was in a awful mood, and just wanted to go to bed. Scratching the back of his head awkwardly, he asked, "So, uh, you want me ta walk ya home den?"

Hawkeye scowled slightly, arching an eyebrow at his reaction. She shook her head at his apology though, "'S okay, don't worry 'bout it."
She ran a hand through her hair, watching him put out his cigar and stand. She looked up at his offer to walk her home, "If ya don't mind; yeah, that'd be nice," she tilted her head to the side, still eyeing him.

He gave her a sideways grin and walked over to the door, holding it open. "It'd be an honah," he said, smirking at her. He prided himself on being chivalrous.

She grinned, though still vaguely confussed at his sudden change of emotions, "Oh, Race," she pretended to fan herself with her hand as she stood and walked toward the open door, "Ain't you such the gentleman!" she joked, using a phony southern accent.
[The southern thing wasn't meant to be offensive, I was going for the Ado Annie (from Oklahoma!) affect. =P]

<<New Day>>
Itey sat near the window, a tired look on his face. The war had been good to him. He'd been selling on the broder near the Bronx and was making a lot of extra money picking off some of their customers. He didn't feel guilty about that either. It was their own fault for starting this stupid war. Like most of the others, he was tired of being stuck in 'Hatten adn was starting to think about sneaking out to Queens for a change of scenery. Itey was still picking at his small sandwhich when the bell above the dor chimed and someone else came in.

Dazzle walked into the cafe. She was sick of seeing the same scenery everyday. Even though she had been sneaking around the other borroughs for sometime. She sat at a table and ordered a drink. She looked around and didn't recognized anyone, but that was ok. She didn't mind to sit alone.

Itey looked up as a girl he didn't know entered. She definitely wasn't a 'Hatten newsie, and he couldn't say that he had ever seen her in here before, and he was a regular as long as he had the money. Bored, and by himself with Snitch selling in Midtown today, he decided a little conversation wouldn't hurt.
"Hey, I don't think I've seen ya around here before. I'm Itey."

Dazzle looked up at him. She didn't know him, but she didn't know many newsies. "Ya well, I guess I don't get out much. Names Dazzle."

"Dazzle? Sounds like a newsie name ta me," Itey said curiously, "You from 'Hatten?" She didn't look like a newsie, they tended to wear pants, made it easier to get away from the Bulls or an unhappy customer.

"Ya? Dats what I am," Dazzle replied sarcastically. "And I ain't no 'Hatten newsie, wouldn't be caught dead as one. Well...maybe dat would be better then bein' dead." Then she smiled, "I'm, from Queens."

Itey rolled his eyes. Queens kids were something else. "Foh all yoah 'Hatten hate, you certainly came a long ways ta eat here."

"Ya well, it gets boring ta see the same things day afteh day. Can ya blame a goil foh wantin' a change? Though Prince is gonna be mad when she finds out I've been visitin' the Bronx she won't be happy, but what can I say?" Dazzle just shrugged. "Ya can't tell me ya ain't gettin' bored stayin' all couped up in 'Hatten."

Wandering into the cafe, she spotted Itey. She wasn't sure if they had ever been introduced, but, she knew who he was. Walking over she took a seat across from him. "Heya Itey," she greeted, glancing then at the girl at the table beside them.
She immediately recognized the girl from the racetracks and grinned. "Hiya Dazzle, what brings ya ta 'hattan?"

"The Bronx? We've had some nasty fights wit der kids," Itey responded, thinking of Sneaks and Ace, "And I am, we all are, but most of us don't have a deathwish, so we're stayin' outta Brooklyn."
