Jackle walked into the Cafe. He walked up to the counter with a sigh. Why had the weather gone bad? He hated it when the sun wasn't shinning on the water. So his plans to go to the riverbank basically went up in smoke when the clouds covered the sun. He took out his money and ordered hot chocolate. He didn't much like coffee and tea wasn't his thing. He payed and turned to see David. He walked up. "Anyone sittin' here?" He looked around the cafe noting that almost every seat had someone in it.

Jack had been following David. They hadn't finished their discussion, and David wasn't going to enjoy any beverage just yet. Ordering a tea, he grabbed it, and pushing past some random Bronx kid, sat next to David. "...what made you think you could just leave the lodging house without explaining yourself?" His voice was steel, and his eyes, hard.
Jack hardly ever looked like this. And it definitely was not a time to fool with him.

David was just about to answer the Bronx kid when Jack stormed in. Luckily, he was flushed from the cold, and thus it was hard to notice the newsboy had paled. He'd left the Lodging House to get some fresh air, as it was needed after one spent even a moment in the Refuge. He'd told Firecracker to explain to the Manhattan Leader that he'd be back, but obviously, the message hadn't gotten across or Jack just didn't care.
The Jacobs boy gulped, his light blue eyes meeting Jack's, finding the hardness in them. Had he expected to get off lightly with his friend, he was defiantly mistaken. He had a feeling this wasn't going to be a pleasant conversation.
"Hey, Jack." he said as calmly as he could, willing his voice not to shake while avoiding the question.

Jack laughed. "...hey..you hear that...you just 'hey jack'ed me like nothing is wrong! Like we are oold pals." He took a sip of his tea, his eyes never leaving his 'best' friends.
"So I like how you leave the burrough, though you ain't supposta, then go venture for information that even I don't know about...and then keep it from me." He spat out bitterly. "Some best friend you are. I'm a liar, I betrayed you all once. I expected better from you."
He snorted. "Guess you eventually became a full fledged Jack disciple. Congrats."

David winced, his coffee long forgotten now. Jack wasn't yelling at him, but it sure as heck wasn't a friendly conversation. Betrayal. That word stung like nothing Jack had said before. He hadn't meant to do anything. He hadn't meant to wander into the Bronx. He hadn't planned to talk to Ace about the war. He hadn't expected to get thrown in the Refuge or have the Bronx Leader spill out his history to him. He hadn't, but it had happened. He now understood why fate was a bitter subject for most people.
How was he supposed to explain himself to Jack? Especially when he was like this. The war had started because of the leader's pride and temper. David had a feeling Jack wouldn't believe a word out of his mouth.
"Jack," he began, though he had a feeling that this wasn't going to help him at all. "I didn't mean to end up in the Bronx. I wasn't paying attention to where I was going. Ace didn't tell me almost anything until we got caught and thrown in the Refuge. He only told me because he wanted me to tell you incase he didn't get out! I didn't mean to go to the Bronx, I didn't mean to receive that information, I didn't mean to get thrown in the Refuge, and I didn't mean to betray you!!"

Jackle had been standing where he was in complete shock of the whole situation. "Its betrayal a little harsh? It ain't like he meant for anything to happen." He at least believed David but that could have been because he saw him and Ace being carted off by Synder and the bulls. He also figured David was still a little shook up.

Jack lit a cigarette, taking a long drag from it. He was about to answer David when Jackle pipped in.
"Oi, kid. Did you somehow get the idea that you were apart of this conversation?" He stood and grabbed Jackle at the shirt collar, his eyes deadly. "I suggest you keep your mouth shut when a Leader is dealing with one of his own newsies--you ain't on your own turf. So get out of here, or I soak ya."
Jack hardly ever threatened people in that fashion, but he was close to soaking David, so soaking a Bronx kid would be much easier. He snorted distainfully. "Can't even fight your own battles, can ya now, Daaavy."

Jackle looked at Jack with a glare and shook his head. He took his shirt back and steped back. He didn't mean to butt in but he had been there first. Still he supposed leaders always came first. "Sorry...Sorry umm David didn't mean to get ya that comment either." He shot a don't mess with me look to Jack. He turned on his heels walking over to the counter. He had no intention of leaving just yet he wasn't done with his drink. He'd risk the getting soaked.

Jack rolled his eyes. At least the annoyance had left. Turning back to David, he shook his head.
"No Davy..I think you betrayed me when you sided with Ace in the lodgin' house back der. I payed for my lies and betrayal ten times over....you were my best friend, David. You shoudda stuck by me...not brought me down." There was some pain in his voice this time, mixed in with the anger and venom.

David sighed, running a hand through his curly brown hair. His light blue eyes showed the depth of his guilt, sadness, and apology for his actions. He felt...stupid, dumb, unintelligent. Useless, even. More than useless, he felt like a betrayer. And as hard as it was for him to admit it, he probably was.
"You're right, Jack," his voice was quiet, and startling to those who heard him. It wasn't often David admitted to a flaw in his own personality, and never with such sincerity. "You're right. I should've stood up for you, helped you, but I didn't. I can't change that. All I can do is say I'm sorry and hope for forgiveness. I'm sorry. Kick me out of Manhattan, soak me, do whatever you want, because I deserve it. I probably deserve more than it."

Well wasn't the wind kicked out of Jack's sails. He hadn't expected David to apologize. Kinda kicked the anger out from under him.
"...I forgive you, David. But I ain't forgettin this. Don't do it again, or I will kick ya out." He meant it. "...and don't think ya out of the woods yet. But thanks...for bein' honest." His face didn't lose any of its hardness, though. It was going to be difficult for him to deal with what his best friend had done.

(((New Day)))
It had been awhile since Dazzle had been out of Queens and her she was sitting and staring out the window. You would think she was staring at the world outside, but she wasn't really paying attention to anything. She was lost in thought. Her glass sat close to her hand, sweating as she ignored the glass.

((New Day))
Mush had been quiet recently, with all this Racounter busniess going around he thought it best just to leave people alone, and he wouldn't join them. He prefered the fine life of a newsie. As for right now though, he'd recently finished selling, so he was getting a bite to eat. He walked into the Corner Cafe and took a seat near a window, watching the people walk by with his ever cheerful smile.

Moira had been wandering in hattan again, happy with her new coat and her new freedom. Slipping into the cafe she checked the menu and then the amount of change she had. Enough for a sandwich or so. She scanned the room, looking for anyone she knew.

Mush saw a girl walk in and look around. He didn't recognize her... but she seemed... newsie ish to him. He stood up. "Excuse me miss, would you like to share my table?" he asked her motioning to the table he sat at by the window.
