Dusty blushed the deepest shade of red possible. "I'd like you to stay..." she whispered, staring at her feet. 'oooh he's cute....' Dusty surpressed a giggle.

"Den I'll stay," he said with a shrug. "So... you know Fancy huh? Bit wacky ain't she?" he asked with a smile. Though, you could tell he was kidding, he had that certain air about him. But, he loved teasing his friends, it was simply too much fun. Besides, they had common ground, so, he was using it to their advantage for conversation.

Dusty smiled. "Yah... she's a nut case that one..." She shrugged. "I guess thats why so many people like her... well that i know... i mean i'm sure theres people who don't but..." oh god Becca get a grip... she scolded herself.

"Fancy's got friends galore! Seems in almost every bourogh of the city... yeah, she's real well liked that one. You seen her recently, or been gone a while, or what?" he asked. After all, he didn't remember Dusty, she could be one of those new kids like the others whom he'd missed when he was gone.

"I've seen her. I was her second in command for a while..." she shrugged. "Can't believe shes gunna have a baby... and she's gettin' married!" she smiled sadly. "I'm gunna miss her!"

"Yeah, but she ain't gone for good. You can still see her, I betcha she'd welcome the company... 'specially a girl like youse," he added with a sly smile. "But, dat's my opinion. You'll see her again, if I know Fancy, she ain't gone for good, and it'll be a good long time b'fore she is," he added with a soft smile.

Dusty blushed again and shrugged slightly. "I know... But i'll still miss 'er..." she smiled at him. "She was a great leader... Prince is doing a fabulous job i think... sometimes she gets kind of crabby but... she can be forgiven!" Dusty giggled and crossed her legs in front of her, looking at him.

"Prince, yeah, dat goil's gotta temper. Dun evah call her a Princess... she'll literally take ya head off. She gave me a black eye once for it. Taught me good. She's only crabby because she cares about da kids, and it just looks like she's in a bad mood. It's fake, it's real easy ta make her smile," he said remembering his friend. "Justa mattah of... knowin' how ta talk to her, and dat is a skill developed wit' time."

"Well, my muddah died, ya see? So it was just me and my bruddah and sistah. I couldn't take care of 'em livin' in da city, and bein' a newsie like I was, so I took 'em down to Virginia, where there were more jobs. But, den some bull found out dat we was a buncha kids livin' tagether, with no parents, and put us in an orphanage." Avalanche still blamed himself for his mother's death because he didn't get her well in time. Though he worked like mad, he still felt liable, but that was his secret.

Dusty looked at Avalanche carefully. She could see the hurt in his eyes, even if he himself was unaware of it. "I'm sorry..." she whispered placing a hand gently on his arm. "I didn't mean to hurt you..." she meant this metaphorically of course. "I didn't realize..." she looked at him sympathetically.

"Huh? Oh, nah, dun youse worry 'bout it," he said shaking his head. "It's da past right? My kids..." he rolled his eyes, old habbits die hard, all leaders refer to their newsies as kids, and he did for a long time, "my bruddah and sistah," he corrected himself, "are in Virginia, and safe, so it's no big deal. When I get enough money I'm gonna bring 'em back up heah, since I got a steady job now. B'sides, it ain't cha fault," she added with a smile. "So, dere ain't no reason for youse to worry, got it," he said with a wink.

Dusty smiled back at him, taking her hand away quickly. "oh sorry..." she was referring to the hand on arm thing. "I'm glad your siblings are well Avalanche..." she said with all the sincerity in her being. If there was one thing to be said about Dusty, it was that she was always sincere. "I'm glad your okay..." she told him, flashing a smile.

"Was that a smile? If so that's a real sweet smile... you should smile like that more often," he said teasing her a bit. "And thank you... but I'm not okay, I've never been okay, you an ask Prince... my head's been messed up since... forever!" he said being silly is all. "But I appreciate the concern."

Dusty smiled. "No.. i doubt it..." she giggled. "You seem very... together..." she gazed off into the distants. "It's nice..." her heart raced, that was going to far. 'Becca... you fell so hard...' her mind teased. She went slightly pink. oh dear... someone has a crush....
