"Well... I'm glad," this girl wasn't giving him much material except for the pink in her cheeks. "Your sunburn looks like it's gettin' better," he said moving her face back towards him. "Dere we go... yeah, ya lookin' much bettah, I think my bein' heah has helped a bit," he said nodding. "I dunno how a person could heal a sunburn, but... yours sure has gotten better," he said smiling at her. He liked this girl, she was shy... it was different.

Dusty smiled at him. "My sunburn eh?" she looked in his eyes. There was sincerity there, it calmed her. "It's easy to trust you..." she stated. Sometimes the things Dusty said sounded a little far off or some may even go as far as to say insane, but it wasn't insanity... Dusty just knew.

"Really? Well... that's a dangerous quality in a guy, ain't it? I could do a lotta damage with that," he said smiling at her. "It's easy ta talk to youse... I dunno da last time I had a conversation with anyone like dis... been a while," he reassured her. "I'se talk ta Fancy, and Red, and Spot, and Prince, an all dem, but ya make good conversation," he said nodding.

"No... really it's nice to be able to trust someone..." she smiled sincerly. "I haven't talked to anyone like this either... for a while..." she shrugged. "I've never really talked to anyone for an extended amount of time... except Fancy and maybe once or twice with Prince..." she liked talking to him to, she really did. "You know... i think i've...." she stopped herself just in time, preserving her dignity.

Avalanche looked at her. "You gonna finish that sentence or just end it there? It's up to you, I mean I can't tell ya how to talk, but I was just curious. And, if it's somethin' I can help with lemme know, and I will," he said, just being his useful and helpful self. He smiled at her, she was funny.

"Ya gonna hafta be a bit more exact," he said standing up and sitting on the other side of her so that once again she was facing him, almost by accident. "Ramembah? I'm not okay? I'm heah," he said tapping his temple. "So... what did ya mean by that?" Avalanche didn't let people get off easy, and Dusty was gonna be no exception.

"Well, thank you, and I thought that's what you meant," he said with a sly smile. "You're a sweet girl Dusty, and I thank you for your compliments." He smiled at her his Avalanche smile that was known so well.

She shrugged. "Thank you..." his smile melted her inside and she wanted to jump on him, but used self control because that would have been creepy. "All guys should be like you... Instead of the joiks i'm used to dating..." she shook her head. "To be honest i've never really liked boys.. they scare me for some reason..." she shrugged, that must sound funny.. but to Dusty, guys were only a source of pain and heart ache... but this one was different she could tell.

"But if all guys were like me then what chance would I have?" he asked with a slight shrug and a tilt of the head. "Now, I've never met a man who scared me... wait, yes I have, but we didn't get a long that well, and I didn't think much of him after that, and... now I'm just rambling," he said laughing a bit again. "But, yeah, I know there's a lotta jerks out there, and I figure it's pointless to be one of them because their... well, just not very nice people."

"Yah... i know..." she felt something hot sting th back of her eyes. "sorry..." she said as a single tear slid down her cheek. "It's just there are so many people out there who don't care if your dead or alive and then theres those few people like you who take the time to sit and talk to some random newsgirl just cause she looks a little sad..." she smiled at him, but it wasn't like one she had ever given before. It was a smile that meant something, it could touch.

He had to smile back at her, it was too hard not to. "Well, so I'm one of those few people," he said shrugging. "There are others, I just happen to get here first," he grinned proudly at her and himself. "And any time you ever feel a little sad you let me know, and I'll see if I can help," he smiled at her.

Dusty looked up at him. "Thanks Lanche..." she said relieved that he didn't hate her. Dusty got it in her head that if she showed that she was 'weak' in front of a guy that he'd take that opportunity to beat her. They always had in the past...

"You're welcome," he said smiling. "So spill," he said then looked at her. "You basically just showed me that you feel a little sad, if not more than a little sad. So... I wanna help, and if I'm gonna help you better tell me what's wrong," he said. He was serious too. It almost sounded like he was kidding, but his face showed that he really wanted to know.
