Dusty flinched and moved away slightly. 'God Becca, your such a whore... why are you such an idiot?. She shivered. "no...please..." she whispered looking at her knees and pulling them to her chest protectivly.

Avalanche realized he had upset her. "Look, Dusty, I'm sorry... I just wanted to help, I didn't mean to scare you. I won't make ya do or say anythin' ya dun want... I'm sorry," he said again just trying to be comforting. He didn't know how to handle sadness from anyone, including himself... so... he just tried everything.

"It's... It's not you..." she whispered. A shiver ran up and down her spin. 'ow... Rex your hurting me...let go...' "It hurts...He won't let go..." she stammered.

Now Avalanche got worried. "Dusty, just... come here!" he said. He tore her arms from her knees, and hugged her. He wanted to protect hurt, and if something was hurting her, he wanted to fix it... that is if he could. He would start yelling at her imagination, if he had to.

Dusty stared straight ahead. 'no, i don't think i will... i'm not done with you yet...' "No... stop... please its not my fault..." she wasn't crazy it was just the memories were so real. "Avalanche help me..." she whispered.

Avalanche picked her up completely. "Leave her alone," he said to... well, no one, but he figured, since she'd asked he'd try and help. "You leave her alone, she didn't do anything to you, let her be," he said as calmly yet cooly as though he were talking to a Delancey. He didn't know what was in her head, so he was just trying to be helpful.

"Avalanche... he beats me..." she cried into his shoulder. "I had to do it..." she told him. Hot tears stung her eyes and cheeks. "I didn't want to... I put up with it..." she whispered. "Because i loved him... and i didn't think he meant it... I was stupid..."

"No, no you weren't..." he said trying to be helpful, and hoped he was working. "It's in the past either way, and he's not here... he can't hurt you any more, and with me around he has even less of a chance." He set her down on the ground and wiped the tears from her eyes. "You're going to be fine, I promise."

Dusty stared at him. "But he is here..." she shook her head. "The past can't be rewritten its true... but either way he's scared on my memory for life..." she shook her head again. "No matter how hard i try to forget... he comes back only stronger..."

Avalanche wasn't good with handeling sadness... he never had been, that had always been Prince's department. If the boys were sad or something he'd send them to Fancy or Prince, the girls were better at it. "Well... I'll protect you," was the only reassurance he had for her. "You can come and see me any time, I live in Brooklyn, by Red, so you can see Fancy too!" he was trying to liven up the situation. "Please don't cry," he added, "Your smile is prettier."

Dusty nodded. "I'll try..." she smiled sadly. "Thank you..." she said sincerely. "You must think i'm insane huh?" she raised her eyebrows. "I'm not... it's just the memories are so real and vivid that they haunt me... like they happen all over again..."

"Well, I can't say that I've ever relived a memory, but dreams are fairly similar to what you're going through, and I've had pleanty of those," he can remember reoccuring nights waking up seeing a burning house and his whole family dying right before his eyes, though that had never happend, it scared him. "But, you aren't insane... you've just had some rough times..." he said sincerely.

Dusty shook her head. "No. I'm sorry. Dreams aren't like this at all..." she slid the side of her pant leg a little higher up her left leg to reveal a large, angry scar. It looked as if she had been burnt many times over and a huge, red, jagged line creased through the middle. "It's real..." she whispered, dropping her pant leg and stretching her legs out in front of her. "And I'm sorry you have nightmares Avalanche..."

Avalanche looked at her scar. "Yyyyyeeeeaaaaaah, ummm... hate to break it to you, but my nightmares aren't what's bothering me right now," what was bothering him was that this girl was having an awful time coping with her past. "I... I have no idea what I can do for you Dusty. I don't even know where to begin, but I can tell you that I'll help. I'll protect you, and you are more than welcome to come and spend time with me any time you want, my door's always open." He honestly wanted to help her, but how could he fight what he could not see? Let alone know anything about. He hated the feeling of knowing someone was hurt, or in trouble, and he could do nothing about it, mostly because of his own past.

Dusty shrugged. "Thats quite generous of you... Thanks..." she looked at him sadly. "If it weren't for the scars i would be able to move on..." she told him, almost reading his mind. "I've never been one for living in the past... but somethings are just to real to forget..."
