Cards nodded, shoving her hands back into her pockets. "Good tah know yah." She dropped the cigarette she was holding and crushed it with the toe of her boot. She didn't say anything about Lucky's comment on her attitude, however. She knew she was a smart-ass, and quite frankly, she wasn't going to let on that there was more than that to her. It was her security blanket. "So, youah name's a bit contradictory den?" She wasn't being insulting; she was curious.

Lucky smirked a bit and toog a long drag from her cigarrette. "There's this old saying, don't look a gift horse in the mouth.." she blew a trail and watched the smoke dance on the wind. "I dunno what it means, but I ain't all that lucky some days, but I've got more then most. Luck alone has kept me alive this long." Her eyes didn't show much, they never did unless she wanted them too. When her walls were down, but she didn't let her guard down around just anyone. "My name's a joke, one big joke the fates wanted to play."

Luck alone has kept me alive this long.
Those words echoed in Cards' head as she took another cigarette out of her pocket and lit it up. It was a saying she'd heard many times before but it was something she never applied to her life. "Yeah? Well, be glad da you'se got luck on youah side. I ain't got nobody but me an' sometimes, it looks like da Fates 'ave toined dey're backs on me."

Lucky waved her hands and smiled, "What does Sneaks always say, Luck is always on my side and the fates love me.." She laughed a bit and took another slow grag. "He's got us both beat I'd say. The fates don't turn their backs on anyone, they put you where you need to be when you need to be there. There are no accidents in life, we just gotta learn from whatever life throws at us.." She took another drag and sighed.
For Lucky life was good right now. As soon as Spot was out (whichs he hoped was soon) life would be just fine. But, something was bound to come along and mess things up. Those were the breaks.

Cards snorted quietly and ran a hand through her hair, sending a dark fringe over her eyes. "If dis Sneaks fella is right, den I wish dey didn't trust me tah loin so much."

Lucky flashed Cards a brilliant grin, she was actually starting to like the girl a bit. "But that's the way the world works, kid." Even if the girl was most likely older then Lucky, by a year at least, she was going to call her kid. She brushed her hair from her shoulders and smirked. "You gotta learn somethin, and it's not you're choice when you do.."
Wow she was starting to sound like her mom. She blinked a couple times, that Roma blood outshining the Italian for once.
".. you're alright.. maybe Spot wont kill you when he gets back.." There was no if, not at all, Spot would be back, Lucky was sure of it.

Cards raises an eyebrow as Lucky called her 'kid'. She was pretty sure she was older, but whatever. Then she grinned at her comment about Spot Conlon. "Death threats, huh? You'se guy is da real deal."

Lucky chuckled a bit, brushing her hair behind her ears and finished her cigarette, snuffing it out on the crate. She furrowed her brow as she thought, catapulting off of the crate. "Conlon's one of my favorite people, he's tough and the only leader in this whole city I'd follow without asking any questions." she stretched a bit and looked up at the girl, and small smile on her face. "He's funny as hell in my opinion. But, what can you do."
She yawned a bit, and stretched. "It's gettin' late and I'm gettin' hungry." She started walking towards the lodging house, looking over her shoulder at Cards. "Come on kid, let's get going.."

Cards snickered a bit at the thought of the Spot Conlon she'd heard so much about being funny. She was starting to think that her life was about to change, and this time, it was for the better. She grinned as Lucky barked at her to hurry up. "I'm comin', I'm comin'." she muttered, following the girl, tossing her cigarette butt on the ground.

With a grin and a laugh Lucky led the girl to the lodging house. Didnt' matter to much now, she was starving and she wanted to be nice and warm in case it started to rain.
