"Wait... Al, i'll come with you..." she shot a sympathetic look back at Dazzle and sighed. "Sorry Daz, i told you i'd try and help ya..." she told her, not wanting Dazzle to take her head off or something. She was worried about saying the wrong thing.

Dazzle looked over at the two girls and then said really softly, "Sorry." She continued to pace and still was no closer to solving her problem. Why did life have to be so difficult. Its just not fair. The she shook her head, "Whats da matter with ya, feelin' sorry for yourself," murmured Dazzle to herself. She sat back down and put her head in her hands trying to think.

Dusty murmured a quick "Its alright..." before turning away again, giving the girl room to think.

Alley waited up for Dusty. Looking at Dazzle as she sat back down. She turned and looked at Dusty. "Hey Dusty what brought yas out here today?" She smiled at her.

She shrugged and sighed. "Somewhere cool..." fanning herself with her hand, Dusty gave Alley a dieing look. "Got any suggestions?"

"ise ain't got a clue. Maybe one of the pubs or cafes would be cool. Seein' as the water in Brooklyn is dirty and well i'm not in the mood to venture into Harlem and that moment." She shrugged. Everywhere was hott annoyingly so.

Dusty nodded in agreement. "Anywhere that has shade or at least a small amount of cold water..." she laughed, picking up the pace a bit. "So, how long ya been in Brooklyn?" she ventured, not having recalled seeing this girl around lately, or, in fact, ever.

"Ise was born and raised here in Brooklyn. Though ya probably won't believe that. Ise did spend my share of time in the refugee on account she stopped...Ise don't normally venture to get to know people all that well, but your different. You see i'm afraid if i get to close to people somethin' bad will happen. My parent's died with i was little and i was blamed for it. I had nothing at all to do with it save for the fact that i was born. But that's a long long story. Ise small enough so ise hide pretty well in a crowd so no one ever really notices me which in a way is a good thing." She sighed looking down. It was the first time she's actually opened up to someone so easily. For some odd reason she trusted Dusty with the information she had told her without really even thinking about it. Her mum, dad, a newsie form her childhood, and jackle would have and would be proud of her. The thought of her parents made her put her head down further to cover up the fact that she felt like crying.

Dusty looked over at Alley, a look of sympathy and hurt on her face. "I'm so sorry Al..." she whispered putting an arm around her gently. Dusty sighed. She liked this girl and after all she had just confided in her something that was just as painful, if not more so, than her own past. "I know how you feel... well kind of..." she said gently. "My Mother treated me like i was a baby.. up until i was or i dunno sixteen. She was so overprotective that one day i decided to just run away. The only one who knew where i was or what i was doing was my boyfriend. I thought i loved him... he was gentle with me and made me feel beautiful... until he started beating me... i was so shocked that i just let him do it." she lifted the sleeve of her shirt to reveal one of the twelve hideous scars that remained from the merciless beatings and nights of terror. "He did somethings he shouldn't have... and eventually i ran away from him as well. I had no where to go and nothing to eat until i came across the newsies and now here i am..." she left out the part about Rex coming back, she didn't think Alley wanted to hear it anyways. "So don't cry okay... As long as you know that you didn't have anything to do with what happened to your parents, it doesn't matter what they say.. okay?" she was barely restraining her own tears by now and she was practically clinging to Alley's arm. "I-i just... i'm so sorry!" she wailed, hugging her friend tightly.

Alley took Dusty to the ground with her. She held the other newsie close. " I'm sorry Dusty. And he probably came back too didn't he? At least you got to know your parents. I was little and they were murdered infront of me. The guy only wanted to murder my father so that my mum would go home to her parents who were rich snobs to begin with. My mom came in to help my dad so the guy had to kill her too but my mum got him as well so all three died in my room. The murderer bleed out that's how he died. He set out house on fire he cover me in gasoline but thank goodness a neighbour was awake. They got me out but my parent's and the guy were already dead..." Her voice trailed off as she finally finally let the tears fall from her eyes. the picture of everything that happened that night went through her head. "It was my birthday too." She didn't want to tell Dusty that the guy had molested her and tried to kill her as well which made her desprately afriad of guys and even the blades she carried and used sometimes. The way she wore her hair hid one of the scars form that night.

Tears flowed freely down her cheeks as she listened to Alley's story. "Oh Al..." she whispered, holding the other closely to her. "Thats absolutly terrible..." she trailed off as sobs overtook her body. She wasn't crying for herself, she was crying for the girl in her arms. She had been through far to much pain and to Dusty, it didn't seem fair or even comprhendable. "Did he do anything else to you...?" she ventured, sensing that there was something else she wasn't saying. But if Alley didn't want to share it, Dusty wouldn't make her. "I feel your pain honey..." she whispered, gently stroking the others hair, comfortingly.

Alley only nodded before she spook. "he...he touched me where he shouldn't have and and he tried to kill me. and even through all that the worst he did was get me blamed and sent to the refugee because of it." She shivered slightly. Even through all that where most people would have turned cold and hard she was still sweet and caring and shy at times. She hated to see others pain more then her own. She was even kind to her enemies well in the sense of if they were ever in trouble she'd help them. she leaned into Dusty more sniffling the tears spent. It had been a far to long since she had cried infornt of someone. About 9 years too long. She'd cried of course and people could tell she had but they never saw the tears.

Dusty held Alley a little tighter. She knew the things that she had suffered all to well. "I know how hard it is..." she whispered. "Even harder when your small and confused." Gently smoothing back the others hair, she pulled her off to the side, leaning against a building. "It's not your fault..." she said, forgetting her own pain and focussing on Alley's. A strange kind of feeling was building in her stomach. She could help this girl, maybe Rex had taught her something... not just who was boss, but he had given her the power to want to help. So Dusty pulled Alley back into a tight hug and whispered words of comfort to her, telling her how much she means to the world and how many people love her. Dusty swore right then and there that she was going to help this girl heal... no matter what.
