"You dont have to. Contrary to popular belief, i didn't tell you for that." He looked at the other, serious for once. He didn't even gloat over the fact he was older. And he would have.

Peem smirked. "...I know. But we'll have a fun time. You're in a family now. Family's celebrate."

Blaize laughed, moving to his feet and leaning over the railing, letting the cool wind wash over him. He closed his eyes a little and smiled. "Yah. I think i'd like that."

"I would be lying if i said i did not fear this." He said, teasingly, letting the other help him up. "Well, though i walk through the valley of the shadow of death..." he was laughing.

"And here i thought i was being sneaky." He laughed, climbing in after him with a broad smile on his face. It was nice to joke like this, he had fallen into family life without even realizing it.

Peem laughed and walked in. "Mum...Blaize has something to tell ya!"
Mrs. Hendry had just put Davie to bed, and was sitting at the dinner table, having a cup of tea. "Oh? What dinna he tell me?"

Blaize made sure Peem was subjected to his best you-just-wait-you'll-pay-for-this- look, before looking at Mrs. Hendry, rubbing the back of his neck. "Erm...Well, mum, its my 18th...Next friday."

Blaize grinned, hugging her back. "You know you dont have to, Mum." He knew what she was going to do anyway, and he couldn't help but smile, eyes lighting up. It felt good to have someone do something like that for you. Even if it wasn't necessary.

Mrs. Hendry clucked. "Nonsense, have to celeberate for my boy!" Her face lit up. She loved parties, especially throwing them. "Now...chocolate or yellow cake? Vanilla buttercream or chocolate?" While the Hendrys weren't well off, she always slurged on birthday.

Blaize made a sort of strangled sound and held a hand over his eyes. "Ai, you're making me choose?!" He sighed, smiling and shaking his head. "Why dont you just surprise me? You know i'll eat it no matter what." Cake was cake, and he had already given up on changing anyone's mind about the party thing.

Blaize bit at his lip as he thought that one through. His jacket, as much as he hated to admit it, was not going to keep up to the cold wintery months they were promised, and he nodded. "Yes. Actually, there is two things....But you've already taken good care of one of them."
He smiled down at Mrs. Hendry, "And your son is right on one thing...I wont turn down a jacket."
