Alley sent a glare a playful one to Firecracker. She liked being quiet she didn't want to introdude on their fun. "Yea i guess i do got yas beat. But what can i say. I can't lie without gettin' caught so what's the use." She watched a man walk by and caught a glimpse of something shiny. She glanced around the only people there where Mush and Firecracker. She slowly put her hand in the man's pocket and grabbed the thing that had caught her eye. A pocket watch. Dang her. She'd add it to her collection. She gave the other two a myschievous smile.

"It's a scandal! It's a outrage," Mush said with a smile to the two of them a little sarcastically, before he watched Alley take the pocket watch out of the man's pocket.
"Hey..." he said a little quietly. I mean, sure he'd been one for pick pocketing before, but he never just took random things from people's pockets when they walked by. Just money, and that was only when he was really desperate. He didn't pursue the issue, but... he didn't exactly approve of it.

Alley smiled. "nothing's wrong with tellin' the truth. You get respect for that. And a pretty good reputation among the customers." A man walked up to her. "Do you still have a paper little one" "yes sir i do." She smiled giving up the newspaper she had kept for herself. "On the house sir. Oh by the way news was slow today. The pigeons migrated early this year so it's come up with some concern to the experts." She smiled sweetly. "Thank you very much." he passed her a quater and headed off.
She looked back at the other two not knowing what their expression would be. Alley looked at Mush for a moment. "Did you actually think i'd keep it." She had just as sly as she took it placed it back in the man's pocket for it was the man she had just sold the paper too. "I'm a pickpocket but i have one of my own." she smiled.

Firecracker was startled when Alley took the watch. Sure, she'd pickpocketed...many times. But it was usually just money, or something she needed. She'd even swiped a few oranges and apples when she didn't have enough to afford them. But never actually...took something for the heck of it. Well, alright, once, but he had offered her a dollar! How was she suppoused to resist?
She relaxed, however, as she slipped it back into the man's pocket, releasing a breath. She was not in the mood to be shipped off to the Refuge, thank you very much. A small grin spread over her features as she realized the 'danger' had passed. When living on the streets for the last third of her life, you realized you were never going to learn everything about it and so, your motto became 'expect the unexpected.'
"Damn, how the heck did you do dat?" she whistled lowly, watching the man walk off. "Yer two years older den me and dey nevah call me 'little one!' Well..probably because I'd soak 'em if they did..." yes, it was best not to make reference to her short height.

Alley shrugged. "you look at me like i'm crazy here." She was refering to her pickpocketing. "believe me i know where i am. I ain't gonna get us in trouble heck no." She let that slip and smiled. "Well i don't mind it. I'm used to it. I look little plus i've had that guy as a customer since i was little. So one i wouldn't keep anything that was his. Its funny cause he caught me once. And laughed at me cause he remember when he used to do it himself." She shruged. "I've got a stable clientel what can i say." She was serious about that. She got a few new people on the occasion because of the reputation she had set for herself. And most of them knew that her improving the truth when and if she ever did was because there really was no news, they still bought anyways.

"You've got a reputation in Manhattan? I thought you were a Brooklyn girl," Mush said. He decided not to dwell on it. He simply shrugged. "Well, good to know that you can get business," he said nodding.
It was always good for a newsie to get business. This Alley girl, he didn't know much about her, she seemed a bit mysterious, but he didn't dwell on that either. He'd seen a lot of kids not willing to talk about their pasts.

Alley smiled. "Ise got a reputation here and in Brooklyn. I sell mostly in Brooklyn. Its rare that the occasional Manhattaner sees me. Though some come into Brooklyn just to get their papes." She shrugged. "Heya Mush how long ya been a newsie?"

"Well, I'se would have a stable client...If dey didn't eventually figgure out I streached da truth...a little," Firecracker stated, grinning innocently. "Improvin' da truth has woiked for me 'fore, it'll woik foah me again. 'Sides, I get to use creativity...Which is a good ting. Means I don't prank ya."
She grinned, having pranked many of the newsies in the Lodging House. It had become a regular occurence if all the others were awaken by a shriek from a now purple newsie, or curses from someone who realized they're cap had 'disappeared.' She hadn't pranked Mush yet...'Yet' being the keyword here.

Alley nodded her head. "Yes and i do believe that that is a good thing. THough i've been known to get people back if they try. "She giggled.

Mush smiled at her. "Customer's is always a good thin', and keepin' 'em's even bettah," he agreed. "I'd have some stable customers too... like Fire said... if I didn't improve da truth so often. An' if I had a sellin' spot dat I visited on a daily basis. But I do neither, so I jus... sorta sell wherevah," he said with a shrug. It was a plan that seemed to work well for him! And if something works well, why mess with it?

Alley nodded at Mush. "very true why change something that works right." She smiled. "so is anyone hungry?" She questioned, she really didn't want to eat but she knew she had too. Firecracker had seen her at the Pub but had left before she had said what was bothering her.

"Heck yes!" Firecracker exclaimed, her stomach rumbling in agreement. "I'se haven't eaten anythin' 'cept the stale bread da nuns give us!"
...If black sludge with water and stale bread that resembled concrete was a meal, anyway. Otherwise she had basically dropped inedible and tasteless materials in her stomach...

Alley nodded. "Tibby's maybe?" She looked over at Mush for his answer as well as at Firecracker.

"Thanks for da offah," he said with a small smile, "but I'm gonna toin ya down for now. I'se got stuff ta do. Maybe some othah time though," he said, and he sincerely meant that, but he just couldn't right now. "Nice meetin' ya Alley, but I'll see youse two latah. Enjoy ya meal," he said smiling. With a wave he walked away from the two girls and back into the crowed.

Alley watched Mush leave and then turned to Firecracker. "Tibbys?" She was paying attention to the fact that she felt like she was starving. She held her stomach and winced a bit. She didn't much want to show pain but she did anyways. She sighed. "Let's just head there we can make up our minds later."
