Z straightened her dress and smiled genuinely and warmly at the two boys.
"Nice to meet you. I do apologize I'm not usually so demure, One just doesn't know what to expect upon entering the 'boys lodging house'" She said jokingly and raised her eyebrow at the bow Dodger gave her.
"Oh dear, Where are my manners? After such an exuberant welcome, i must have been left senseless to forget them." Z winked at the other boy in the room.
Smiling even wider Z introduced herself. "I'm Z. I thought it wise to figure out who the leader was in these parts before I made myself a nuisance." She said ending with a flourishing curtsy that almost brought her nose to the floor, steadily she held it for a bit then rose gracefully.

Lefty grinned as he breathed in the familiar scent of the musty old room, stepping over to a clearly already occupied hammock and sliding the belongings with his foot out from under it. This was his spot. Dropping the bag he had over his shoulder he sighed contentedly, collapsing back into his old bed laying his hat over his face. It was good to be home.
For the past year Lefty had been in Richmond, selling with the newsies there and seeing the distant parts of New York. The kids were a bunch of whining pansies though, living in their own secluded part of the city and never dealing with the issues (and sometimes wars) that came from living next door to the other boroughs. He would compare them to Queens, but it would just be an insult to Prince. Richmond was the worst of the worst.
((Staten Island was known as the borough of Richmond at the time, and wasn't connect by bridge to the rest of NY until the 1960s.))

Dodger was sitting on his bunk, since he slept in the bunk room with everyone else and never used the spare room that was more like closet space he balanced up and smirked. "What took ya so long mate?" hell he'd been waiting for Lefty since he'd left and all this bad news had started out. He was taking a drag from his smoke, his hat on top of his knee.
"We've got trouble.." it was the worst kind. "Other than that, Welcome home.." Well that was Dodger for you..

"What took ya so long mate?"
Lefty grinned at the voice, his hat still pulled over his eyes. "Ah, you know, just tryin' ta teach those good'fer nothin' Richies what it means to live in New York." Sitting upright he slid his hat back on his head and cracked his knuckles with a smirk. "They couldn't handle it."
"We've got trouble.. Other than that, Welcome home.."
He raised an eyebrow, but his smirk didn't fade. "Wouldn't have it any othah way, keeps things interestin'." He got up from his bed, stretching out and crossing his arms as he leaned against the wall. "Wha'do we got?"

Saint had a bad feeling in the pit of her stomach.
She mumbled something to herself and crossed the street, hands stuffed in her pockets. The bag over her shoulder bobbed up and down. In her left hand she fingered her worn old rosary, mumbling a hail mary as she entered the boys lodging house. She turned, makign sure no one had tailed her and sprinted up the stairs.
At this time of day she wasn't sure whether anyone would be up or what. She looked down the hall and then walked dlowly in, taking the bag from her back and nodding at the two boys who seemed to be the only one there.
"Wha'do we got?"
Saint didn't quite recal the kid's name. She pondered for a minute, and decided it was Lefty, the one who'd dissappered into Richmond a year before. She smiled and nodded towards Dodger.
"Dat was my question exactly Dodge." she said queitly "I've been hearin some pretty chilly things."
Then she remembered her little present, snatched fresh from an old rickity cart around the way.
"Apples," she said simply, setting the brown sack on one of the bunks "Da real finky fruit vendeh from 74th street sends his regahds."
She laughed to herself and then put a hand on her hip, listening.

Dodger caught the apple and lifted a brow, a smirk working over his face at Saint. Shaking his head the Bronx leader adjusted himself and tapped his hat up so that he could see them both and they could see him.
"Kids gone missin, girls mostly." He met eyes with Saint, he was worried about all the girls. "I asked Lexi to keep an eye on the girls house for me since I can't be in two places at once but it looks like they're snatching with wee ones too. Not much I can do about that... but we need to know who's missin' an' why so we can take them back.." Then again that also fell into finding out where these kids were. Perry--- Lexy couldn't find him. Things were bad. "A good friend of mine is missing.." Sweets. His little blond bundle of sun, he was angry over that. But he'd get her back and everyone else if he had his say.

"Kids gone missin, girls mostly."
Saint listened intently, chewing on her own aplle with a slight smile. She respected Dodger. As much as she liked the other leaders, noen of them made her feel as equal as Dodge did. Cowboy was too full of fanfices and Prince didn't seem like she was very friendly to those she didn't know well, and Spot, well Spot just irritated the mess out of Mary. As she listened she noticed Dodger's eyes glance at her when he mentioned girls. She threw him an "As if." glare back.
"Ya know, fa some reason I ain't so worried bou myself xactly." she mused "So don't you be frettin eitha Dodge."
But she did know that alot of the girls around WERE subject to this. Kidnappings? In the Bronx? She wondered where else it was happening, she turned to Lefty, wondering if he'd known abotu any of this during his extendeed vacation.
"I asked Lexi to keep an eye on the girls house for me since I can't be in two places at once but it looks like they're snatching with wee ones too. Not much I can do about that... but we need to know who's missin' an' why so we can take them back.."
Saint fumed. Little kids. She crossed her arms.
"Coppas?" she asked lamely "Who else would have da noive?"
She thought for a moment.
"Which burroughs is it happenin da most in?"
"A good friend of mine is missing.."
She cocked an eyebrow and pulled herself onto a bunk, sitting forward, interested in the conversation.
"Sorry." she said lamely, telling he was upset "You tahlk to da uddeh leadahs yet?"

Lefty acknowledged Saint's appearance with a nod then turned his attention back to Dodger, his fists unconsciously clenching at his news. "Someone's snatchin' our girls?" He remained silent through the rest of Saint's questions, turning to the window and glaring at the street below. Whoever was behind this had no idea who they were dealing with. Sure, the newsies looked cute out on the street calling headlines, but they were a force to be reckoned with if threatened.

"I know, Saint, love, that's what I'm here for, worryin and waitin for something to happen.." The Bronx leader sighed and shook is head. Sweets gone, and others turning up missing now too. Even from his borough.
"Coppas?" she asked lamely "Who else would have da noive?"
"Saint love, ya shouldn't be spendin' so much time with Fibs, your taking her stories seriously again.."
"Which burroughs is it happenin da most in? You tahlk to da uddeh leadahs yet?"
"Someone's snatchin' our girls?"
"Aye, mate. From all the boroughs if ya wager it. And from what I can tell they were planin' it since the moment I went ta that blasted false meetin. It was a set up, and Tip Off has ta know who and why, if we could find the idiot.." he grumbled and took a long drag from his smoke.
"I don't know of the others'll listen ta me on this one, callin' another meetin' but it has to be done... I suppose.."

Shamrock stood up from his place on the stairs where he had been spying on his sister and Byron. He snickered after watching them kiss. Finally, he thought. Shamrock stood up from his hiding spot and walked up the stairs and into the sleeping area. He looked around the room, to see if there was anyone he could hang out with since Pallet and Byron were downstairs wanting 'to talk'. He saw Dodger sitting on his bunk, talking to some girl and some other guy, both he'd never seen before since he, Pallet, and Byron just recently joined the Bronx newsies.
"Hello Dodger!", he looked up to the Bronx leader so he was excited to see him and started walking over to him. "How are you do--" But, realizing that Dodger and the other two newsies looked like they were having a serious conversation, he stopped. He'd have to talk later... He walked over to his bunk and laid down pulling the shooter marble out of his pocket to admire. He'd just have to wait up here on his bed til Pallet and Byron were done 'talking' or someone came up he could talk to.

"Someone's snatchin' our girls?"
Left was miffed, and Saint coudl tell. She leaned back, sitting on her elbows and watching the two boys. She imagiend it must be hard, bein a boy and constantly worrying about all the little helpless damosels running around. But they did care, which made her a little less edgy at being one of those very damosels.
"I know, Saint, love, that's what I'm here for, worryin and waitin for something to happen.."
She waved him off, looking towards the window and then back at him. She laughed and rolled her eyes at him, lifting an eyebrow and taking another bite of her apple.
"Aye, mate. From all the boroughs if ya wager it. And from what I can tell they were planin' it since the moment I went ta that blasted false meetin. It was a set up, and Tip Off has ta know who and why, if we could find the idiot.."
The girl wondered for a minute and then piped up, her eyes a little wider.
"Ah right, ders ya lead right in fronta ya nose." she said softly "Dey aint's coppas and dey ain;t on the level, dey'd hafta know about da Newsies from inside. Criminals, street rats, theives. Ya know, the lower muckity mucks we don't notice."
She pulled out her own cigarette, lit it and took a puff. Her mind was working at a hundred miles an hour.
"And des taking goils and kids. Dat means dey eitha need bribe material or labah." she laid her head back thinking "Not heavy labah, mind ya, nothin serious. But they'd be making money off a few a deys kids dey think nobody cahes about."
She sat up.
"But dats whea dey're wrong." she said "Dats how ya know it waddint any Newsies. Anybody round heah with eyes and ears would know that if they snatched anybody dey'd be dead meat in a minute."
She took another drag, realizing she was talking too much.

With a somewhat embarassing struggle, Fibs pried the window to the lodging house open and maneuvered her gangly frame through. Ankle catching on the frame, Fibs hobbled left and right before finally managing to free herself. Turning about, she surveyed her surroundings...
"Oh hell," she dead-panned. "Wrong lodging house." It was truly as testament to both Fibs' absentmindedness and how little time she spent in her own bunk that she managed to mistake the boy's lodging house for the girl's... again. Just as Fibs straddled the windowsill to make her exit, she realized she was far from alone in the boy's bunkroom.
"Dodger!" She exclaimed, his familiar face a more than welcome sight. The seriousness of the conversation she had stumbled upon was lost on Fibs, who was blissfully unaware of the circumstances surrounding the recent disappearances. Truthfully, Fibs was taking very little caution in that regard--she still took to wandering the streets at the worst of times.
Moving towards the group, Fibs grinned at Dodger with her customary adoration, "Long time, no see."

((New Day)) Dodger walked into the sleeping area and let out a whistle, he was sure to at least get Lefty and River. But the rest of the boys were needed too. Truthfully that was all that mattered to Dodger at the moment. As long as the boys get moving. "Alright mates, gather up your belongins we're all headin to the girls house. It's easier ta keep a clean eye on everyone when we're all in the same place aroight?"

River sat up as Dodger entered the bunkroom and couldn't help the grin that crossed his face. "I always wanted to live with a bunch of beautiful Bronx women." Standing, River wasted no time in packing his small satchel with his belongings. He'd always thought they should combine the houses like the other boroughs but knew that everyone liked it the way it was. After he was finished throwing his stuff into his satchel he moved to stand by Dodger. "Think they'll clean up after us?"

Shamrock quietly made his way up the stairs. Never mind Byron finding out he had sneaked out, if Dodger caught him...
Shamrock quietly opened the door to the sleeping area. He poked his head in the door and looked around. Dodger was in conversation with one of the boys called River, but he couldn't quite make out what they were talking about.
Shamrock quietly slipped in the door and shut it; if he could make it to his bed then no one would know he had left and he could lay there pretending that he had been waiting for Byron to show up the whole time. He bit his lower lip and slowly and quietly tiptoed through the room, trying to keep Dodger from becoming aware of him. He was almost to his bed without being seen when-- THUD-- he tripped over a pair of boots that had been left on the floor, landing hard on the floor. There was no way that hadn't been heard.
