Perry stopped and stared when he walked into the sleeping area. He had never seen a bunkroom like this. 'What are they?' He tried to figure out which ones were empty and figured the ones that had nothing by them were and he tried sitting on one, but quickly fell to floor on his rear end. He laughed and tried again, this time succeeding.

Snickering at the boy's difficulty sitting on the hammock, Dewey got out oh his own hammock and walked through the nearly empty bunkroom over to the kid, who had finally gotten his bearings and was sitting on the hammock. "What's da mattah kid?" he asked amusedly "ya nevah seen a hammock befoah?"

Perry smiled, innocently, "Nah, is that what this is? It's so neat!" He started swinging his slightly from side to side. "I love it! I think I'll want one of these forever. Did you have a hammock before you lived here? Why do they have these instead of bunks?" Perry was on a roll with the questions, he was such an inquisitive little boy. Some may find it annoying but most people found it endearing, just depended on your outlook and how much Perry bothered you.

Dewey laughed, amused by the boy's unrelenting enthusiasm "calm down kid. Remembah, breathin' is ya friend." he said jokingly "Now, ta ansah ya questions no, I did not have a hammock befoah I came heah an' i dunno why dey have hammocks instead a' bunks, dere prolly cheapah, I guess." he explained, sitting down on the hammock across from Perry's.

Perry gave him a grin, "I think its great, best thing to ever be made." He gave Dewey a huge nod, punctuating what he was saying. "So how long you been a newsie? Do you like it? I know I love it, it's so much fun! You can do whatever you want, whenever you want as long as you sell your papes. Right? Right." His smile widened as he looked around the room. "This is so much better than the place we used to stay. All the bunks smelled funny." Perry wrinkled his nose at the thought of the smell, he used to have trouble sleeping because of it.

"Whoah kid, remembah what I said about breathin' " Dewey chuckled "So let's see if I can remembah all a' dose questions. I been a newsie about t'ree yeahs. Yes, I like it pretty well an' da freedom dat comes wit' it is pretty nice an' lastly, don' get too excited, kid, 'cause once all da boy come in from sellin da room'll smell pretty funky whethah da beds do or not."

Perry laughed, "Yeah I bet, my brother smells pretty weird after selling all day." He smiled slightly as if lost in deep thought, "Lexi usually smells pretty though." He nodded as if he's had an epiphany, "You think that means I'm gonna smell bad too? Maybe only girls smell good when the day is over."

"Shoah seems dat way, kid" agreed Dewey, Smiling "But don' worry It wont be so bad foah you 'til ya oldah, not like it'll make much difference wit' all da oldah boys dat stay heah already" he assured the boy.

Perry nodded thoughtfully, "Yeah that's true, guess it won't matter if everyone's smelly." He laughed and made his hammock start to swing again. "I this is the best bed ever, other beds aren't this much fun."

Perry nodded enthusiastically along with what Dewey was saying, "I think it's great that I don't got to sleep below someone! I used to hate waking up to Reids feet in my face." He let out a little laugh before continuing, "His feet probably smell worse than the bunks did."

Aftah all, da perpetratahs in my story happend to be my brothahs as well"
