"Ya got me. Born an' raised in Bath, England,"
Byron smiled, "I've been to Bath. Beautiful place. I'm from Sussex." He remembered traveling to Bath with his parents for a quick vacation, when he was a boy.

"I've been to Bath. Beautiful place."
Gemma smiled fondly at the memory of her birthplace, eyes glazing over a bit as she gazed out across the water. "Yea, it really is. Especially during the spring..." she said vacantly, before coming back to herself and blinking.
"I'm from Sussex."
Gemma's eyes lit up. "Oh really? One a' my old friends was from Sussex. You from East or West?"

"East Sussex." Byron smiled remembering his hometown. "I loved it there. But, it's beautiful in Galway, Ireland too; where Pallet's from. Ever been there?"

Gemma shook her head. "Sadly, I can't say I have. But I've been through Ireland, before, if briefly." Gemma smiled at the memories of the spontaneous vacations her father would drag her off to, years ago. Glancing up at the position of the sun, Gemma realized how long she'd been here with a shock. Well, how was she to know she would make two new friends? Looking back over to Pallet and Byron, she smiled apologetically. "I'm real sorry, but I need ta' be goin'! I had no idea how long I've been here, I'm gonna be late foah the afternoon service!" Even being a newsie, Gemma believed in going to church as often as possible. Bouncing up to her feet, Gemma saluted the two as a friendly goodbye gesture, and trotted off in the direction of the church. ((Sorry I had to cut the conversation short, I'm leaving for Europe today and I'll be gone for a month so I didn't want to keep you waiting. Hopefully I'll get to talk to Pallet and Byron some day in the future! ))

*NEW DAY*
Reid walked around the pond, his hands tucked into his pockets. The sun had just started rising over the horizon so the park was still pretty empty. He loved being here at this time of day because it was one of the only peaceful things he could do these days. He was able to clear his mind and think about something other than his brother and what he should have done to prevent him from being taken. He knew he was responsible, after all Lexi looked after Perry all day and only asked that Reid keep an eye on him at night. Reid shook his head trying to clear it of the thoughts and began to whistle a tune under his breath.

Peaches had been on edge all day. She had heard talk around Manhattan about girls not being able to go out on there own, but what was she to do. She technically wasn't a newsie and didn't know many newsies around Manhattan so what was she supposed to do; Stay cooped up in Medda's all the time? No, she needed to be able to go out. So, to pass herself as a boy, she was wearing a loose fitting navy blue button up shirt and some loose fitting dark gray pants, and all of her long curly red hair was shoved up inside a gray newsie cap. If someone didn't pay too close attention to her, it would work...
Peaches had found herself here in Pelham Bay Park after an hour of wandering. She walked along the path leading to the pond. Hearing a faint noise that sounded like whistling she froze, looking around. Walking along the edge of the pond she caught a glimpse of a boy. At first she was worried and her heart began to beat faster, but then recognizing that he wore newsie clothes she was able to calm down. She shoved her hands in her pocket and made her way towards him smiling. She loved meeting new people.

Reid stared at the water, enjoying the way the sun reflected off of it as it rose higher in the sky. He knew people would start filling up the park soon but he wished this moment could last forever. Most of the time these days he couldn't stand to be surrounded by masses upon masses of people. He wanted to leave the city and put everything behind him but how could he possibly do that without knowing his little brother was safe? As he heard footsteps approaching he turned his head sharply and noticed someone walking towards him. They were dressed as a boy but with curves like that it had to be a woman. He smiled his hello and nodded towards her.

Peaches walked up to him, a big friendly smile on her face. By the way he had smiled, she knew that he wasn't fooled by her boy's attire. She continued to smile but sighed at her failure in a disguise. If this boy knew her to be a girl, how many others had she passed on her way here that knew as well? Pushing the thought to the back of her mind to think about later, Peaches pulled the cap off of her head letting her long wavy red hair tumble to her shoulders. "Hello, darlin'." she chimed in her southern accent. "I hope I'm not botherin' you...?"

He gave her a smile and shrugged slightly, "You aren't bothering me." He studied her for a moment and had to admit she was incredibly striking. She had a southern accent like Alanna but he could tell right away that her personality was probably not much the same. Ah, Alanna..he'd forgotten about her for awhile. He wondered how she was and if she was still dating Mush. "I'm sorry I don't recognize you, are you from the Bronx?"

Peaches smiled and joined him, walking alongside him.
"I'm sorry I don't recognize you, are you from the Bronx?"
"No, I'm from Manhattan. I work at Medda's, I'm a singer." Peaches unbuttoned the top button of her shirt to try to cool herself down a bit from the heat.
Peaches turned her head slightly to take in the sight of the boy next to her. He was quite handsome. Towering over her by a few feet, he had a chiseled chin, his hair was cropped short unlike a lot of the guys she'd seen, and he had beautiful blue eyes. Although when he looked at her, she saw a glimpse of sadness that those eyes held. Or was it guilt...? Shaking her head, Peaches tried to push the thoughts from her head and think about something else. She shot him her sweetest smile and held out her hand, "My names Peaches. You got a name, darlin'?"

He smiled when she said she worked at Medda's. He'd heard that some beautiful women worked there and if she was any testament to that then it was completely true. "I've never been there, heard it was nice though." He was still pretty new to the city and after Perry went missing he didn't really do much of anything except pray and scour the city hoping to find him.
"Peaches? That's an interesting name? Did your parents give it to you or is it a nickname?" He smiled, he figured it was a nickname but didn't want to offend her. He'd found that people tended to get offended a lot easier here than in Jersey City. "I'm Reid. Pleasure to meet you." Taking her hand he kissed the back of it like the gentleman his sister taught him to be.

Peaches stared at Reid in disbelief, as he kissed her hand. She had never meet a boy in New York City with the same courtesy as the Southern Gentlemen she knew when she was younger. It made her smile.
"Peaches? That's an interesting name? Did your parents give it to you or is it a nickname?"
Peaches chuckled, "It's my nickname, Darlin'. I'm originally from Georgia... The name my parents gave me is Charlotte Mariella Victoria Carington. But, when I don't go by Peaches, people just call me Charli."

Reid smiled as she told him her full name, "Now that's a beautiful name. But Peaches does seem to suit you." He meant that in a good way and he hoped she took it that way because after he said it he realized that some women might get offended by that. Then again she didn't seem like the type that would take offense easily. "Why'd you move to the city?"

Peaches blushed at his comment about her name. She loved her full name, but if her parents were looking for her and they heard about her living in New York, they'd try to take her home. So, she usually went by Peaches or Charli, telling very few people her full name. But, Reid looked like someone she could trust. She smiled at him.
Peaches stopped and bent down to pick a daisy that had been growing by itself along the pond. Then, she stood up, smelled the flower, and continued on walking. A somber look on her face, Peaches replied,"Well, on my sixteenth birthday, I was told that I had been promised to the son of my father's friend; Figuring that if they joined their children, they could join their businesses, having one of THE largest plantations in Savannah, Georgia... Well, Thomas and I didn't want to marry each other, so he helped me pack up and sell some of my things and bought me a train ticket to come here. He and my brother Avery are the only people who know where I am..." She smelled the daisy again, and turned and gave Reid half a smile. She hadn't talked about her past with anyone before, since she came to the city. It made her sad to think about the family she had to leave in Georgia, but here she could live her life the way she wanted to live it with no one controlling it.

Reid frowned, thinking about the fact that his sister was lucky compared to this girl. They might have it hard but no one had ever tried to force her to do something she didn't want to do. He couldn't imagine what he would do, but it would probably be along the same lines. "I can see why you left. Well at least you had a few peoples support when you did. How do you like the city?"
He figured it would be better to steer clear of any serious discussions. He wasn't very good at handling emotions especially with the condition he himself was in. All Reid wanted was for things to go back to normal. Hell he'd take his drunk, gambling sister over a missing brother any day of the damn week. He didn't care what kind of hell she'd put them through in Jersey City. At least they'd still all had each other then and even when she'd been her worst she'd still been the same kind caring person that she was now.
