Peaches sighed, "It's not Georgia, but I like it. Especially when there's places like this when you need to get away from the city for a bit." Peaches looked out at the pond, taking in the beauty of it.
Peaches turned back towards Reid and smiled, "You're not from here originally, are you, darlin'? You don't have the thick accent like those that are."

Reid smiled, "Nah I'm not from the this city, I'm from Jersey City." Reid nodded his head towards her sentiment about places like this being in New York. "It's like a little piece of the backwoods. It's nice." He meant that it was private and calming. He'd always enjoyed walking around through parks since he'd spent most of his life in cities.

"Most of Savannah was like this place. I remember, there was a little pond like this in the woods behind our house. When I was little, my brother Avery and I would skip out on our chores and go swim in it. But, we always got caught by Edward or Dalton, our older brothers, on our way back to the house." Peaches closed her eyes, and chuckled to herself remembering the swims with her favorite brother. She opened them back up, "Was there places like this in Jersey City, too?"

Reid smiled as he thought about his time in Jersey City and the places that he would visit regularly. "There are some nice parks there and if you go to the outermost part of the city there's actually a little wooded area that was always nice to walk through." He missed Jersey City and had in fact been contemplating going back before his brother had been kidnapped. Now he didn't know if he'd ever want to leave when he got him back.

Peaches studied Reid's face as he talked about his hometown. He was happy talking about it, but in his eyes she could see a hint of sadness peeking through. Why, she wondered. What would make such a nice guy sad? "It sounds nice." She gave him a half smile before asking, "What about brothers and sisters? Do you have any or is it just you, darlin'?"

Reid winced at the mention of his family, he'd started to distract himself from thinking about them by talking about other things with Peaches, but now he couldn't avoid it. "Two siblings actually, a younger brother and an older sister." He stopped there not wanting to talk about them anymore. "How many did you say you had?"

Peaches saw Reid wince and quirk'ed a brow. So, siblings must be a bit of a sore subject. That must be the reason for the sadness she had glimpsed in his eyes.
"How many did you say you had?"
Peaches relaxed her eyebrow and gave him a small smile. Okay..., she would avoid asking him about his siblings the best she could. "I have three older brothers. There's my older brother Edward Grayson Randall, he's named after my father Edward. Then there's my second oldest brother Dalton Cedric Emmerson, he was my mother's pride and joy..." Then, her smile widened, "Then there's my youngest older brother Avery Winthrop Sterling. He and I were like twins born three years apart. The two of us were always getting into trouble and disappointing our parents one way or another."
Peaches lifted her face towards the sun, and squinted her eyes. It was getting hot as the sun was moving higher in the sky. She wiped the little drops of sweat from her forehead with the sleeve of her shirt and shifted all of her hair to one shoulder, hoping that would cool her down a bit. Then she turned back towards Reid and flashed him a flirty smile, "Do you mind if we move over into the shade and sit down, darlin'? I don't know how you boys do it, wearing pants and shirts AND hats all day long...?! You'd think dresses would be just as hot but they're not."

*NEW DAY* Lexi sat on the edge of the pond under a willow tree staring out at the water, a used but unopen book lay beside her. She'd brought it because it hadn't left her hands in a few weeks it had been Perry's favorite book. Peter Pan, the boy who never grew up and lived a truly magical existance. She liked to think that's where he was now, in his own private Neverland. Wrapping her jacket tighter around her shoulders, she continued to stare out at the water marveling at the changing of the seasons.

James had done a lot of things over the years, he'd lied cheated and stole just to survive and yet-- he found himself trying to take care of Lexi in a different way then he'd ever taken care of Moira. Lexi was a tough woman, she didn't need his constant attention-- all she needed was his presence from time to time when the weight of the world was getting to be to much.
"I was looking for you at the lodging house," his accent was soft as he moved to stand beside her, he didn't sit he stood there and followed her gaze.

Lexi heard someone approaching so she wasn't too surprised when Dodger spoke but a small smile tugged at her lips as she glanced up at him. "Needed some fresh air..." She'd begun to feel smothered at the house, mostly because she'd been spending so much time tugged away in her bed but also because she kept getting sympathetic gazes from her friends and fellow lodgers.
She knew it was hard for people to talk to her because they didn't know what to say, if she was in their position then she wouldn't know what to say either. "I'm glad you found me." Grabbing the book she stood up and dusted off the back of her skirt before turning towards him and leaning up to place a light kiss on his cheek.

He smiled at her when she kissed his cheek, his dark eyes falling on her face as he set his hand against her neck to give it a rub. Poor girl, she'd been through hell. He liked how she handled things, because it made life easier for the both of them.
"You needed time, I figure you've had enough and you'd need me now. It's all.." he kissed her cheek in return and pulled her into his arms. "You are a strong woman, Lex. But you can lean on me too.." from time to time at least.

Lexi sighed contentedly as she settled in his arms, "Thank you, for giving me time." She'd needed it and as much as she loved having Dodger around she hadn't wanted him to see her like that. She hadn't wanted anyone to see her like that. "I know I can, but you have enough problems to deal with you don't need mine too."
She was glad she had him now though, she needed something to take her mind off her own melancholy and he was the perfect cure. "How have you been?"

"Busy," he ran his hand restlessly through his hair as he sighed. "Words coming and going, people still recovering and then you've got idiots like Blink and Skitts back in Manhattan milkin' it for all it's worth.." Letting out a sigh the brit gave her a lopsided grin.
"But they don't have you to see do they?" Oh ouch, didn't Blink look a bit-- upset that night at the meeting? Perhaps but Dodger wasn't the kind of man to worry to much. You take life by the horns or you miss out. That's just how it was.

A slight chuckle escaped Lexi at his words of Blink milking his injuries, she wasn't the least bit surprised by that. She also had the feeling that half the woman in Manhattan were probably mothering him to pieces. At his next words she glanced up, her eyes lighting up a bit. She'd gotten used to the idea of being in a relationship with Dodger but it still sort of amazed her that she'd even caught his eye. The type of men she'd attracted in Jersey city hadn't been the gentlemen sort that Dodger was. "No, they don't have that."
Lexi had no idea that Blink had thought of her as anything more than a girl to flirt with and she'd heard he flirted with a lot of girls so she'd reacted pretty lightly to it. Giving Dodger a small smile she glanced back out over the river, "How is everyone faring?" She hadn't really thought about or had the oppurtunity to ask about even her fellow lodgers let alone the other boroughs.
