Reid laughed at her joke and nodded along with her sentiment. "Yeah, there are some nice people in New York. It's surprising....I always heard that real hard asses lived here." He smirked and ran a hand through his hair, "Maybe that's just Brooklyn though."

"You want to know the sad thing, mon choux?" she was Cajun, to them everyone was family. Their language often didn't have a formal way of speech, to them you were close as family even when you just meet. Brook was like that in her own way. "I don't think I've actually gone to Brooklyn, I figured this Spot Conlon might be a bit much for me to handle.."

Reid laughed at the thought of Spot Conlon. "Everyone I meet talks about this Spot Conlon like he's the scariest thing since the plague." Reid shrugged although he wasn't one to start trouble he couldn't imagine anyone could possibly be that scary. "My little brother keeps trying to sneak off to Brooklyn to meet this Conlon...I think he thinks of him as a god."
Reid shook his head and smiled, "I shouldn't really say anything though, not like I know the guy." And he certainly never wanted to, although he'd never say that aloud.

She chuckled and nodded, "I know, my brother says the same thing, mon choux. But he also says that people with large reputations are generally not very large at all and it's the words that make them grand.." That was how Brook saw it anyway. "If I didn't know Jack Kelly I would think it was all talk. What they say about him, but he's very down to earth for such a great newsie hero.."

Reid nodded slightly, "I haven't met any of the other borough leaders besides Dodger, my own, but if you say so I believe you." He smiled and glanced around a bit, trying to think of something more to discuss but coming up blank. For some reason he didn't want to stop talking to Brook, she was a very interesting woman.

She looked at him and lifted a brow, "Dodger? They call him the Artful Dodger right?" she giggled, she'd loved that book, if only for that character int he book. "What's he like?" She had only met her own leader and knew others by their reputations. Brook was the kind of person that liked to hear other people's stories. They were almost always better then her own.

"Well, he's a good guy and my brother loves him. Dodger showed him a hat trick awhile back and he's been showing it to everyone in the city." Reid smiled, his obvious love for his younger brother shining through his eyes. "It was good for Perry, he was lonely when we first came to the city and he took an instant shine to our leader."

Brook smiled, she wasn't the youngest in her family. There were three of them and she had a younger sister, "Mon bebe petite, my little sister, she stayed home with my parents when Mason and I came here... heh we're all named after places. Mason Dixon, Carolina and me.." she smiled, it was clear to see she missed them. "It's good to make friends, mon choux."

"Your right, it is good to make friends." Reid grinned at Brook, very happy to have met her. "I think it's nice that you all have such unique names. Besides it could always start a conversation with someone knew. Especially since your living in New York."

She chuckled, "You should hear the jokes from the Manhattan, oh someone needs to talk to Spot, lets send Brook Lynne, they have something in common.." she had to smile, she was glad she met Reid. He was a very nice guy and though she loved the boys, she was glad to have met this one.

Reid laughed and shook his head slightly at the thought, "That would be amusing to watch, Brook. I can only imagine. Hi my name's Brook Lynne. Brook Lynne? I'm Brooklyn don't you know?" Reid laughed harder before glancing up at Brook. "Sounds like the newsies in your are love joking around as much as we do." He winked and ran a hand through his hair.

She started to laugh and nodded, tossing her dark hair over her shoulder. "Mon Deiu, I would probably be so far out of my element. Mon Che, I have a terrible habit of getting myself into a LOT of trouble because I start blathering.." Oh she did that and often. She was having a great time with him, she hoped Mason wasn't waiting for her to get home.

Reid smiled, "That trait sort of runs in my family, thought I believe I may have escaped it." He thought of his brothers tendency to take very few breaths while rambling and his sisters habit of babbling when she got nervous.

She chuckled, "Well I for one find you very charming, mon che." Brooklyn nodded, dark hair bobbing as she tossed the curls out of her face a little to glance up at the sky once more. "My brother doesn't blather-- he's the silent type.."

Reid smiled, his sister always used to tell him he was too quiet for his own good he supposed now she wished he'd shut his mouth when he voiced some opinions of her behavior. "Well thank you, I have to say you are much the same." He smiled thinking about her quiet brother, "I suppose being quiet isn't completely awful though, gives you peace and quiet when you need it."
