"yeah, it's pretty hot" answered Gwennie Matter-of-factly "It usually is durin' da summah but at least its bettah den da wintah, dat can act'ally kill ya" she commented "well, anyway, ta awnsah ya question, I'se from Brooklyn" she finished, smiling amiably.

"So your one of Conlon's newsies?" asked Jackie, Jax more of stated that she was one of Conlon's newsies more than asking her. Conlon must of had a sweet spot for Gweenie thought Jackie.

Butterfly had just came from Queens, she meet someone named Les, he was a cute kid but they were just friends nothing else. friends and Nothing else..thought Butterfly
Butterfly walked to the edge of the Harbor so that she could see the water, thought that she saw something move so she leaned in a bit more...but she leaned in too much so she fell in. "Help Me!!!" shouted Butterfly in between going under the water. Butterfly started to try to tread waer like how she saw the swimmers did when she was litle but tht didn't work.

Mush was wandering through Manhattan, he was being rather aloof as well. He was keeping his eyes out for things that could... well... be potentially harmful to himself or others, that's the best way to put it.
He was tired of being stressed, and feeling like he was being watched. Poor Mush wasn't exactly in the best spirits, but suddenly he heard someone call for help. He looked up and towards the water and took off running. When he saw some little girl was floundering in the water he didn't think about it. He threw off his shirt and tossed it onto a crate before he dove into the water.
Mush caught Butterfly around the waist and quickly pulled her over to the ladder. He made sure she could get a good grip on it before saying, "Go on up." He'd let her go up and get out of the water first before he followed her and would make sure she was okay.

Butterfly had been trying to stay above water for a couple of minutes but she just gave up. But at the corner of her eye she saw Mush a Manhattan newsie, her friend Lacey from Manhattan as well sad that he was friend s with Blink and Racetrack who were also from Manhattan, Lacey even told her that she liked Racetrack. Once Butterfly almost told someone but Lacey covered her mouth with her hand.
Butterfly felt Mush grab her around the waist, and help her, Butterfly got a good grip on Mush's arm,( i think) Butterfly looked up at Mush mouthed a thank you to him.

Mush nodded. "Go on up the ladder, and get outta the water huh? Stay in here too long when it's this cold ya bound ta get yaself sick." Mush helped Butterfly get out of the cold water and back up onto the dock.
Once she was on the pier again he followed up after her. "You alright?" he asked her once they were both back up above the water.

Butterfly climbed up the ladder pretty slowly sense she just almost drowned and she was still tired from what just happened.
Once they were both out of the water Butterfly wiped away a straw hair, and thought about what her older sister Patches would think what would happen if they found out if she almost drowned, but she would of have to tell them sooner or later.
"I think i am" answered Butterfly.

"You oughta be more careful when ya playin' around the water," he advised her as he sat down on the edge of the dock and wrung some of the water out of his pants. "If ya dunno how ta swim you could get yourself in huge trouble. What're you doin' down here on ya own anyway kid?" She looked awfully young to be off on her own. He wondered where her family was, or if she had a family. Mush didn't know the girl , he didn't know Queens newsies in general.

Butterfly sat down next to Mush being careful not to fall in...again.

Mush smiled, she was a cute little kid. "Well, do me a favor? Stay outta the water, and go run around the block or somethin'? With the heat and all and then the wind blowin', it should dry off ya clothes pretty quick," he suggested with a bright smile to the young girl.
"Real quick though, what's ya name?" he asked. "My name's Mush, I live here in Manhattan, I'm a newsie. How about yaself?" he asked with a gentle smile.

"I'm Butterfly, I live in Queens, and I'm also a newsie." answered Butterfly with a smile to show her teeth.
Butterfly turned around to run a block or two just like Mush had told her to.

Mush laughed out loud. He hadn't expected her to acctually go and run around. It made him laugh. Cute kid, not the brightest bulb in the box, but... well Mush understood how it could have been a mistake. He decided to wait and see if she would come back. He'd give her a few minutes.
While he waited for butterfly to return he looked out into the water and just thought about things.

Pockets was walking to the Harbor with Snitch. He said that Mush was over there with someone from Queens just like Pockets. They were going to tell him about their little secret.
When they reached the selling spots, she saw Mush and walked up to him, smiling.
