Relax by the crates and sell to the passerby.

Mabel, having had yet another rough day of selling, had wandered aimlessly to the harbor. Sure, she had tried to sell for the first hour or so but she was coming increasingly lethargic. She started waving the newspapers weakly while pouting pathetically at passerbys. Her new technique was failing.
Thus, she sat on a crate at the harbor, swinging her legs and combing her hair with her fingers. Noting a man passing by, Mabel shot up in hopes of guilting him into purchasing a paper. Now, it should be noted that shooting up on a crate is unwise and can result in acute pain and suffering.
Tumbling sideways off the crate, Mabel landed with a most unpleasant thump. "Oh, isn't this just a lovely day?" Mabel spat viciously to no one in particular.

Pitch had just a few of her papers left. She was reading one of them, carelessly not looking where she was going, but somehow dodging all of the obstacles before her wonderfully. "Anudder uprising?" she read aloud, not so interested. She sighed and folded the paper, tucking it neatly into her paper bag. She swung her arms around, letting air slowly out of her mouth with puffy cheeks. 'What a day,' she thought, swaying about. It was obvious it had been no picnic. The harbor wasn't usually her selling spot, but things had been rough lately. Pitch noticed an over-turned crate and she fell back on it comfortably, upsetting it's boards. She whistled a bored tune as she looked around, waiting for passersby, waving a pape in her hand as she lounged. "Extry, extry! Increase in Produce Costs! Read all about it..." 'Ooh, produce. Dat'll get 'em runnin',' she sighed heavily.

<< New Day >>
Jax had only a few papes left and she was determined to sell them before she headed back to Tibby's to meet up with the other Manhattan newsies. Jax wasn't the best seller but she was a good one, good enough to have enough money to eat and buy her papes in the morning.
Jax sat down on a near by crate and waited for someone to come by and ask her of they could bye a pape. "Mayor Broke!!" shouted Jax, Jax had a good imagination which meant that she could make up an article that wasn't even true faster than most newsies...but sometimes that costumer that bought the pape sometimes comes back to her and tells her that, that headline wasn't even true.

Gwennie had sold all of her papers over an hour ago. She had planned to meet her friend Rhoda so that they could go to the docks together for a swim but when she had arrived at the mill Rhoda had only been able to get away long enough to tell her that she hadn't met her quota and would have to work overtime. Rather than going back to Brooklyn, Gwennie had decided to wander around a bit, as she often did when she had nothing better to do. After making her way through the streets of Queens for awhile she eventually found herself in Manhattan near the habor. As she was wandering around, she heard a young newsie, perhaps a little bit older than her, yelling out headlines which, she suspected, where phony. 'well, eithah dat or da reportahs foah da Journal oughta be fiahd' she thought, amused. "Hey kid!" she called out to the girl, smiling amiably "Maybe ya should try anothah method, or anothah spot at least. I t'ink da woid's got aroun' dat ya improvin' da truth has got a little too far away from da truth if ya know what I mean."

Jax had been looking around when a younger girl around her age probably 9 or 10 thought Jax. Jax sold a newspaper to a man, probably a fisherman. He gave her a quarter "Mister i don't have da money ta pay you'se back". replied Jax, but when she told him he was already gone. Jax shrugged her shoulders.
"Maybe ya should try anothah method, or anothah spot at least. I t'ink da woid's got aroun' dat ya improvin' da truth has got a little too far away from da truth if ya know what I mean."
"Ok" said Jax as she looked around for the old man that she usually sells to around lunch time.

"So" said Gwennie walking over to the girl "ya been sellin' long?" she asked, fairly sure that the girl was pretty new. Most more seasoned newsies had learned from copious and considerably painful experience to at least base their headlines on the real ones.

"ya been sellin' long?"
"No,not really just started a couple days ago." replied Jackie.
Jackie was getting useto selling newspapers all she had to do was calm down her imagination which was pretty hard thing to do sence she had a pretty big imagination.

"Well, I been doin' dis awhile so, let me give ya a bit a' advice 'bout ya sellin, methods, okay?" offered Gwennie, jokingly looking over her shoulder and leaning in closer as if telling a closely guarded secret, "Ya don' evah completely make up ya headlines. It upsets da customahs." she explained, smiling "I suggest ya eithah pick a reasonably good headline an' make some modifications to it or...ya palay da sympathy card. Now, ya're a little old faoh it ta woik on most people, unless ya got a baby somewheah dat ya ain't told me 'bout, but ya can usually hit up da sweet old ladies foah money, dey still t'ink a ya as a little baby even if ya're twenty."

Jackie nodded her head, trying to look like she was listening to her but she was just looking the girl up and down. She noticed that she had brown hair, and brown eyes.
Jackie knew that she should make up headlines based off the real ones..but she was just having fun with them.

Despite seeing the girl nod upon hearing her advice, Gwennie wasn't quite sure that she was paying attention. Sighing she paused for a moment before redirecting the conversation "So, what's ya name kid?" she asked deciding that the girl would just have to learn through experience.

"So, what's ya name kid?"
"I ain't a kid! I'm fourteen!" exclaimed Jackie. Jackie hated it when people called her a kid it made her feel unresponciable but she was responciable.

"Well, am I s'posed ta call ya when I don' know ya name?" Gwennie asked giggling amusedly "would ya rathah I called ya mam or madam?" honestly, sometimes people's reactions to things were just so entertaining, Gwennie just couldn't help but laugh no matter how upset they were.

"It's alright" Gwennie assured, still smiling broadly at the humor of Jackie's reaction "My name's Gwennie" she said reciprocating the girl's action.
