She turned her head to gaze out over the city, seeing the lights and a variety of other things. With a sigh she shook her head, "I want ta leave the city awhile soon. Get out and see the world but for now-- I think I'll stick here for awhile, ya know? Besides, Smalls needs me to stick around. I really got all the family I need right here-- Aunt Savi is either dead or she moved on but I don't know.."

Fighter understood the want to get out of the city, to her life felt incredibly repitious. But she also had to agree with Lucky on the family part. She couldn't imagine leaving her friends, especially the ones that stuck by her side her whole life. There were so many people she'd miss, but in the end she knew she would decide to leave the city. She wanted adventure as much as the next person. "We all need you to stick around, Lucky."
A smirk flitted across Fight's face, "Who else would give us the laughs you do? 'Specially when your whooping some girls ass."

A slow smile flashed across her face and she beamed at her, it was one thing she'd liked about Fighter since she met her. "You'd miss my wit an' charm? I'm oh so flattered, Fight--" with a bright grin she turned her head back towards the city, listening to the sounds and watching as the night people transition with the day in the twilight.
"I know what you mean though," she said with a light smirk as she put the smoke out on the side of the building. "Heh, and since we're good friends an' all-- my first name is Miranda.."

"Miranda huh?" Joe smirked as he climbed up onto the roof. Lighting a cigarette he took a drag and settled in. "Can see why ya changed it." Joe said lightly. "though it does sorta roll off da tongue." joe grinned to himself knowing luck would probably punch him or try and push him off the roof. "Could get use ta dat. What do ya tink Fight? Ya tink Miranda heah should start using her givin name?" Joe made a point of rolling the name over and over his tongue, grinning cheekily the whole time.
"Now what touchy feel, lovey dovey talkin shall i be joinin?" he asked the two girls as he relaxed more into his position and tipped his hat down over his eyes.

"I didn't change it," she snapped and rolled her eyes, giving him a good kick for posterity sake, really she didn't care if he knew her name but she was actually really particular who used it. She thought about shoving him off the roof but she kind of liked Joe-- sometimes. "Lucky is my middle name, really--" she just used her middle name instead of her first what was wrong with that.
"Now what touchy feel, lovey dovey talkin shall i be joinin?" he asked the two girls as he relaxed more into his position and tipped his hat down over his eyes.
"Can I punch you in the head?" she countered to his question before shrugging. Whatever, she didn't intend to be a Newsie forever.

"You'd miss my wit an' charm? I'm oh so flattered, Fight--"
Fighter smirked and took a deep breath, enjoying the fresh air immensly. "Well, we gotta keep ourselves entertained and if you left I have a feeling things would calm down a bit too much for my liking." She really did enjoy the company of very few here and Lucky was probably her favorite along with Smalls. Conlon's company was nice, but he was still her leader and there was a certain amount of deference there that didn't suit every mood she would go through. Though her loyalty was so deep to the man that she'd do anything for him just like she would any of her friends. To her they were all family and that meant more to her than she'd ever say. The only people outside of those three she really enjoyed spending time with were her friends from her younger years, Joe, and Zeke. And she'd seen neither hide nor hair of Zeke in weeks.
"I know what you mean though, heh, and since we're good friends an' all-- my first name is Miranda.."
A genuine smile made it's way across Fighters face, it wasn't often newsies shared their real names with friends or anyone else. Miranda was a really nice name to, it suited Lucky in ways her nickname couldn't. She didn't often tell others her real name and knew Lucky was the same way, it made her feel somewhat more connected with the girl that they'd reached that level of trust in their friendship. Of course before she could say anything, Joe decided to make an appearance.
"Miranda huh? Can see why ya changed it, though it does sorta roll off da tongue. Could get use ta dat. What do ya tink Fight? Ya tink Miranda heah should start using her givin name?"
Fighter could've punched Joe, but she knew he was kidding around. If it'd been anyone else though she probably wouldn't have waited for Lucky to react and would've just socked him a good one. "I think you should bite your tongue before two girls see that you disappear off this roof and your body is eaten by the fishes." A smirk flitted across her face, she knew Joe was kidding but she also knew she wouldn't like it at all if someone who wasn't Joe kidded about something like their names. Although small, Fighter was becoming much more sensitive these days with her nerves so tightly wound. Anything could set her over the edge in a second and she wouldn't think twice about it afterwords.
"Now what touchy feel, lovey dovey talkin shall i be joinin?"
Listening to the exchange between the two, Fighter shook her head at Joe's last comment. She didn't say a word because she hadn't felt that they were being mushy and she knew if she opened her mouth she'd probably reem Joe out even though he hadn't meant the comment offensively. When Lucky asked if she could punch him in the head, Fighter smirked and took a deep drag of her cigarette before stubbing it out. "Not if I beat you to it, Lucks."

( New Day )
Winter sucked. Smalls sat near the edge of the roof, holding her coat tight around her and shivering slightly. Obviously the roof wasn't the best place to be on a November afternoon, but the lodging house was stuffy and crowded, and she needed to get the hell out. As a few flakes began to fall she sighed, pulling her hood up over her head. A strike in July was one thing, but she wasn't sure they could handle one in the dead of winter. Still, it was Spot's call, and she would freeze and starve right along beside him.

Lucky shimmied up the fire escape and pulled her coat close, on a sigh she dropped down next to Smalls and lit a smoke. She'd bought a new hat but not to hide the fact she was a girl, she'd settled that score with herself long ago, the hat was because it was bloody cold and it kept her a bit warmer than if she didn't have one. "How's it rollin?" she was moody... very moody. She'd started at least working at that restaurant in Brooklyn for that German woman...

Smalls didn't react to her friend's sudden appearance, too cold to really move much. The only response she gave to Lucky's question was a muffled "eh". Without giving any obvious indication of her poor mood, Smalls knew her well enough to recognize her rising temper. She just remained silent, knowing Lucky would spill in due time.

Smalls was her best friend if anyone knew her moods it was Smalls, resting her head against her friend's shoulder for warmth she moved closer and glared, saying nothing more for the moment. "He's not coming back this time is he, Smalls..."

Smalls turned slightly, looking at the top of Lucky's head as it rested on her shoulder. "I don' know Lucks." She never lied to her, she didn't need to. Lucky didn't expect to get coddled by her, they were always honest. Feeling the warmth next to her she sighed, leaning her head on her friend's.

She closed her eyes, she came for honesty and someone else to voice how she was feeling. Normally Smalls was the best at that, they'd been threw hell and back together and they'd keep going. "Why do I keep waiting?" she wondered that more and more lately. Why she kept waiting for him to come back, even if he was in town he wasn't with her and what did that make her? A fool. That's what.

Smalls wasn't sure how to answer. Relationship problems weren't exactly her forte, her own relationship being sporadic at best, but hell if she didn't love him. She tried to imagine what she would do in Lucky's situation and came up empty, it wasn't something she liked to think about honestly. "Ya wait cause ya care. Maybe you jist have ta stop doin' that." It seemed inane and obvious, but it was the core of the issue, and Smalls wasn't one for embellishing the truth to make it sound more flowery.

She looked over the roof as the snow feel and her jaw locked a little bit, "I feel like a fool, I heard he was in town for a little while but he's gone again and not even a word to me.... maybe he's sending me a message this way. That it really is over and I mean nothing to him--" that things had changed to much, that she had changed to much. Maybe he met someone in Atlantic City and was done with her. It hurt, so much she curled up next to her friend and didn't move.

Smalls just shrugged. She could neither prove nor disprove her friend's assumptions, so instead chose to remain silent. Though she couldn't see Sneaks ever doing something like that, she knew Lucky felt abandoned, and she would always side with her Lucks. Feeling fairly useless Smalls lifted an arm and wrapped it around Lucky's stiff balled up frame.
