Fighter laughed at the comment about Blink, "Really anytime I've been around him he seems....timid, to say the least." Fighter pushed her hair back, thinking she'd gotten away pretty lucky from the fight. Sure she had plenty of bruises but a bullet had only grazed her shoulder and it was healing pretty nicely.
She glanced over at his question a small smirk playing at her lips, "I suppose it was alright. I didn't really watch it, my thoughts were somewhere else." It was her way of telling him she'd been thinking about him. "I didn't end up staying to long." She'd only stayed long enough to have a beer and then she'd headed back to Brooklyn. Mostly she'd wanted to be alone with her thoughts and to go over what had happened during the day.

"Yes, timid, that's exactly the term I'd use to describe Blink," David agreed with an easy laugh, looking over at her and covertly following the movement of her hand pushing the curls out of her face and remembered doing the same for her yesterday. Just before...before everything else had happened.
He looked away as she spoke, stared down at the ground when she admitted to her thoughts being elsewhere and felt his heart almost skip a beat at the potential of what that could mean. Slowly he lifted his head and met her eyes, shrugging his shoulders slightly in an attempt to look casual. "Me too," he admitted, pulling on the brim of his cap, the corner of his mouth quirking up in a small smile. "Lots to think about."

Fighter tilted her head to the side to look at him, "Yeah, lots.." She grinned and leaned up off the rail. "Wanna get going?" She hadn't wanted to but now she was almost anxious to start walking. Only she didn't really want to head back to the lodging house. She wanted to find a quiet deserted area and continue what they'd been doing yesterday.
"Gwennie's excited to get ice cream, maybe next time you could bring your brother to. Or I could bring Gwennie to Manhattan." She figured Brooklyn was the last place he wanted to bring his younger brother. It certainly would be the last place she would want hers going if she had one and wasn't from Brooklyn

"Yeah, we mine as well," David agreed, keeping his hands in his pockets as he pushed away from the railing to fall into step beside her. It felt like it had yesterday, natural and easy with a comfort that probably would have surprised any one of their friends.
"Les would like that, he likes showing people 'round Manhattan," David said, shooting her a small smile. It's as close as he could get to an open invitation to come see him in public and he knew she'd probably understand. It seemed as though they could already read one another so well, it astounded him in so many ways when he had stopped to think about it. Fate had thrown them together during one of the most hellacious moments and they had come out on the other side with something real and amazing.

Fighter bit her lip and smiled, "I'm sure Gwennie would love for Les to show her around." She would love for Davey to show her around. Well show her to a private spot where they could spend time together. She had to swallow a sigh at the thought because all she wanted was to spend some alone time with him.
As they walked beside each other Fighter made sure to keep some distance between them so it wouldn't be more tempting than it already was to reach out and touch him. Frustration flooded her at their situation, but she knew that for now it was for the best. She didn't want to deal with people's reactions and she didn't want to put him through it.

"We'll have to figure out how to make that happen then," David said, knowing that he meant far more than simply arranging some time for his little brother to spend time with Gwennie. But there was nothing to be done for that now and he supposed he just focus on the fact that he was seeing her again, in whatever capacity that might be.
"What do you have planned the rest of the day?" He asked, partly to make conversation but mostly because he'd made it a point to be able to spend the rest of his day in Brooklyn if the opportunity presented itself. At some point last night he had stopped and considered the craziness of this entire situation, but then he'd remembered the feel of her lips on his, the look in her eyes and the softness of her face when she'd smiled at him and suddenly none of that had mattered.

She turend her head to gaze at him when he asked her what her plans were for the rest of the day. "I don't have anything planned." A small smirk crossed her lips because she'd been hoping he'd be able to stay and she figured he could if he was asking her that. Last night she'd started thinking of where they could go to get privacy in Brooklyn but had decided it simply wasn't a good idea to stay in this borough and the best thing would be to head back to where they had been yesterday.
"Do you have any plans?" She felt as though it was a rhetorical question but asked it anyway just to make conversation. She hoped he wanted to spend the rest of the day with her as much as she wanted to spend it with him. To continue getting to know each other in a way they couldn't in front of others. Not just the kissing and such but also the conversations they could have in private. She wasn't willing to let anyone overhear what she would tell him.

"No, nothing I have to get back to," He replied, looking her right in the eye and wishing for a time when they didn't have to speak in some kind of complicated code just to get a point across. Looking back, he'd enjoyed their open and honest discussion almost as much as he'd liked kissing her...almost. His parents had gotten used to his late hours and some nights lately he hadn't even gone home, bunking down at the lodging house with the guys.
Though he knew it was best any alone time they spent together was in one of the other boroughs, David was reluctant to longer to much around the building they had been in yesterday, Jack knew of it and there was always the chance he could pop in. Perhaps there was some other place in Queens or the Bronx or...he realized he was letting his mind get way ahead of him and he glanced over at her and then at the street in front of them. He hadn't spent much time in Brooklyn, other than to tag along with Jack to meet with Spot or when Birdie sent word, it was different walking through it with her.

Fighter nodded a bit but wasn't sure what to say really. She just wanted to skip going for ice cream and find somewhere quiet to go to be with him. It was so odd to think that at this time yesterday she'd been to caught up in her misery to spare him a second thought. Things had changed so quickly. Now he was the only thing she was able to think about. His laugh, his smile, his lips.... She longed to kiss those lips.
For a moment Fight thought about ducking down an alley she knew wasn't used much because it deadended but she thought better of it. There was no point in risking their secret this early on. She was more than sure her friends would find the idea of them together absurd. Looking over at him she smirked and pointed to a building they were passing. "That's where I grew up."

David took more notice of the building once she pointed it out, it looked like most of the others in Brooklyn, or really any other part of the city, but for some reason knowing that Fighter had grown up there had David giving pause. "With your uncle?" He asked, remembering all her talk of him the day before. It pleased him to know that she'd share these little parts of herself with him, what a sacrifice that probably was and he appreciated it for what it was.
"So you've always been in Brooklyn," David observed, hands still in his pockets because he didn't trust himself not to risk even the tiniest touch, not here when who knew who might be watching. "Do you like it here?"

She nodded briefly to his question, a slight smile on her face. Seeing the building always brought back good memories of when she was younger. It helped her push away all the bad things that had happened. "Not always, I moved in with him when I was six. Before that I lived in Philadelphia." That was a part of her life she barely remembered and she liked it that way.
There was no hesitation in her answer to his second question, "Couldn't call any other place home." Brooklyn was in her blood it had been since the moment she set foot here. She smiled and glanced back at Davey, "How about you was Manhattan always your home?"

"Hard to imagine you any place else," David said, smirking at her a little as they walked. He steered clear of the Philadelphia topic, sensing from both this conversation and their ones yesterday that those days weren't some of her favorites. "Yeah," He said in reply to her question, thinking back over growing up in the city. "Moved into that cramped apartment a few years back, that was right before my dad got injured and lost his job."
"I like Manhattan," David said, even though she hadn't asked, because it filled up the air and kept his thoughts from straying to other things. "Suits me, I think." He smiled at her a little then because even where they came from was as different as night and day, highlighting the oddity of everything that was happening between them.

She laughed, "I certainly can't imagine myself anywhere else. I love everything about this city." She loved how Brooklyn had nothing but rough edges because it reminded her so much of herself. She truly lived and breathed Brooklyn. She certainly wouldn't want to live anywhere else.
"Manhattan seems to suit you," A grin settled in place on her face, thinking along the same lines as Davey. Manhattan was pretty much the complete opposite of Brooklyn in every aspect except one. Their boroughs were powerhouses and she doubted anyone could object to that.

"Funny how that happens," David said, thinking for a moment about Fighter and Brooklyn and his own borough. "We seem to find the places that make the most sense for us...or maybe the places find us." He shrugged, certain he might be talking a bit of nonsense, but in some ways it seemed altogether logical. Life had a funny way of working things out, putting you on the paths so it seemed you were right where you needed to be. It had sent him to her side at the workhouse, of that he was certain and it had been the start of something.
"What's your favorite place in Brooklyn?" He asked after a moment, noticing that they seemed to be walking at a slower pace than neccessary, drawing out their time somewhat alone together.

She smiled, "I think that the place we grow up in tends to shape the person we become." Not completely, but for the most part. If she had grown up in a different part of the city she may still be able to take care of herself but she wouldn't be so ruthless about it. Living in Brooklyn had taught her that if she didn't show that she was able to take care of herself that people would begin to think that she couldn't and use that to their advantage.
She mulled over his question for a moment before answering and when she figured out what it was a smile crossed her face. "Ebbets Field. Every weekend growing up my uncle would take me there to watch a game. What's your favorite part of Manhattan?"
