Sweets burst through the lodging house door with a cold breeze chasing her in. When she finally managed to get it shut she proceeded to removed her scarf and hat, tossing them in a near by pile of various winter wear.
She mumbled a quiet, "Thank God," when she saw the fire had already been lit, and she quickly made her way over and knelt before it on the old threadbare rug.

Blink stumbled near the fire, yawning, scratching his stomach. He had decidd to take the day off, so he slept in. "Mmm...warmth." Plopping himself down next to Sweets, he finally realized who it was, grinning. "Oh hey der, Sweets. How ya doin'?"

She smiled. "Heya Kid, I'm doin' alright.." She paused, taking in his appearance and glancing back at the stairs where he came from. "I'd ask how you're doin', but any newsie who sleeps past seven's doin' alright in my book."

She grinned up at him, rubbing her hands together before the fire. "I've been around, tryin' ta break even. Headlines 'ave been trash lately." She shrugged. "I know headlines don' sell papes, but it's shore nice when they do ya know?"

Blink laughed. "Aye, 'id make our lives a lot easia." He smirked and stretched out, looking quiet happy with himself. "Dats why I got a bit of the horse racin' to do..I won enough not ta work dis week!" He had taken a tip from Race--that usually meant he would have lost, but bet on the exact opposite horse.

Sweets laughed, shaking her head. "Lady luck must've been shinin' on ya, Race usually can't even afford Tibby's." She moved her hands behind her, leaning back on them and crossing her feet in front of her. "So how's . . who is it ya seein' nowdays?" Blink's girls changed fairly quickly, it was hard to keep up.

[New Day]
The door to the lodging house opened slowly, allowing in a light wind. Joker came through it with a slight stumble. She swore quietly under her breath and shut the door behind her. She'd just finished selling, and wanted nothing more than just a chance to relax.
"An' maybe play some pokah," she thought with a smirk as she walked over to the fireplace. Joker leaned against the side of the fireplace, breathing in the quiet that normally had no hope of existing here.

Spat made her into the door of a place that looked warming enough to spend a few hours, if not a night. She spotted another girl greeting the warmth of a fire, "Well, howdy. Would ya want ta start a game of... well anythin'?"
From the silence she figured the Red Head didn't know she was talking to her. "Hey, I just got here and I was wonderin' if ya' didn't mind startin' a game considerin' I don't know where a single soul is. If not, that's alright by me, the fire is welcomin' enough for me."

Joker looked over at the new girl. She had to admit that she was rather surprised at the sudden appearance of a new newsie. Her short silence was enough for the other girl to repeat herself.
"Hey, I just got here and I was wonderin' if ya' didn't mind startin' a game considerin' I don't know where a single soul is. If not, that's alright by me, the fire is welcomin' enough for me."
"I'se don' mind. Name's Jokah, what's yoahs?" She asked the blonde girl. It wasn't like she'd actually play the new girl for money. Nah, she'd wait 'til later, when she'd play against the ones she knew could spare the money.

"The few people that know me call me Spat Tanblen. That Poker games sound nice. I use ta watch people play it back home. I only played about twenty games of it, and so I ain't too good, but I have won about half of them."
Not knowing how good this Joker girl was Spat took an uneasy seat.
"You got cards?" she asked hopeful. Spat didn't bring anything when she traveled from place to place, except for a few cents and a blanket.

'Twenty games? Kid's a newbie. But she won half 'a dem. Sounds like a decent playah,' Joker thought silently, watching as Spat took a seat.
"You got cards?"
"Yeah, but let's take dis upstairs. We gots a table up dere fah card games," Joker gestured towards the stairs.
((OOC: There's a game table board. Let's move this there.))

(NEW DAY)
Seeing as selling papers was a no-go for Mabel at the moment, she opted to take up by the fireplace with a book. Unfortunately, the only book she had yet to read was an old atlas that had belonged to her father. One might wonder what would possess Mabel to bring an atlas to the lodging house. Mabel wondered, too.
Sitting with her legs over the arm of a threadbare arm chair, Mabel lazily sifted through pages of maps. Pressing the palms of her hands to her eyes, she groaned before shifting so that the dreadfully dull book would fall to the floor.
Earlier that day, she'd written to her parents about the price hike, hoping they'd tell her to come home. Unfortunately, their reply, while encouraging, mentioned nothing of her coming home. She was stuck... doing nothing... glorious.

To say that Milo's day had not been pleasent so far would be an understatement. Upon waking up, he had been unable to find his hat and he knew that if it was going to be as sunny as it had been the day before, he would need it. So, he spent what seemed like an hour looking for it unsuccessfully. Finally, he had given up his search in order to buy his papers before they ran out.
Upon arriving at the distribution center, he discovered from several other newsies still standing around that the price had gone up again. Luckily, he had just enough money to buy his papers, but he couldn't be sure how much longer that would last with the price raise in effect. Still without his hat, Milo had decided to go back to the lodging house before beginning to sell in a final attempt to find it.
When he arrived, he decided to look downstairs as he had already looked everywhere he could think of upstairs. As he looked around he saw a girl sitting by the fireplace, he recognized her but he'd never really talked to her before and he didn't know her name. He wasn't quite sure if she knew who he was but, nevertheless, he decided to ask her if she'd seen his hat. He walked over to her and tapped her on the shoulder. "Hi" he said timidly "you seen a hat lyin' around anywhere?"
