Shortstack saw him extend his hand but pretended to ignore it as she stood up fixing her twisted suspenders. "Yeah me too." She picked up her bag and turned back to Shamrock and said something she hadn't said to anyone in years: "Nice to meet you, Shamrock."

Shortstack looked back toward the water for a final time, and then, after tipping her hat toward Shamrock with smile, began to head back toward Manhattan, glad that she had decided to stop by the river, and wondering if she would ever happen by her new friend again.

((New Day -- for Bryce))
She'd walked to docks for a couple hours, saying she was just taking a walk but really, she was looking for Bryce. Sighing Naomi looked out over the river and ran her hand threw her hair, she'd let it hang loose and dis-guarded the lady that she so often put up for many. She was wearing a simple blouse and skirt this time, letting her hair fall free in the wind.
Closing her eyes she let out a sigh, and folded her arms. God what was she doing? She knew she was head over heals, she knew she wanted to see him more than anything. And she hadn't felt like this since she was-- well since she was a teenager.

Bryce had found the Riverbank to be a bit of a safe haven these days, away from the bustle of the docks when he was on break or off duty and the water had a soothing effect on the frayed edges of his nerves which always seemed on end these days. He was halfway through his second cigarette, a habit he'd picked up from the other guys in London, when he spotted Naomi walking along the bank a little ways off. Even though she was almost to far to see the features, Bryce would know the curve of her body and recognize the hair billowing in the wind anywhere. Because the truth was he'd never gotten Naomi out from underneath his skin and the reality was he never really wanted too.
She was moving closer and when he could see her features clearly he pushed off the tree he had been leaning against and put himself in her path, looking at her face and seeing the dark circles there, his heart clenching at the sight, knowing he was the cause of them. "Going for a walk, baby doll?"

She didn't want to tell him that he was right, she let out a small sigh and looked up at his features. Now that she had found him she wasn't sure what what to say now. She rubbed her arm a bit and flashed him a smile, "Suppose you could call it that.." She was exhausted, throwing a brute out, dreaming about him ever night. It really was enough to drive a women to drink more than usual.
Naomi took a step towards him and lifted her head with a small smile working it's way over her features, so different from the first one. This one was warmer. "I'm looking for someone... perhaps you know him.. tall, doesn't talk to much... hates strangers.."

"I might know someone that fits that description," Bryce said, a smile tugging at his lips as he looked down at her. Sometimes it amazed him, that as uneasy as he felt with everyone else, it was never like that with Naomi, with her he felt more at ease than he had in a long time, she'd always had that effect on him. "Can I pass along a message to this mystery man?" Bryce asked, giving into the urge to lift a hand and touch the ends of her hair. "He'd be a fool not to listen to what a beautiful woman had to say..."
Bryce knew he was a hard man to love, he had a protective shell that had existed since he was young and given events over the course of his life it had only gotten more difficult to break through. He liked playing things close to the vest and it was hard for him to let people in - Naomi knew all this about him and loved him anyway, had said as much the last time they'd run into each other. So what was Bryce waiting for? He wish he knew.

She closed her eyes a little and drew in his closeness on a soft sigh. Brushing a strand of hair behind her ear as she looked up at him watching the light of the fading day play across his features. "Will you tell him I meant what I said, and even having time to think about it-- only made me want to dig in my heals and fight.. for him.."

"He wants you to know he would expect nothing less," Bryce replied, looking down into her eyes and wanting to catch his breath at the honest, naked emotion he saw swirling in the blue depths. He finally looked away from her, down at the riverbank where the water met the land and lapped idly near their feet. When he looked back at her, he knew that there was no more running, not from this...not from her.
"I'm not the same man that I was when we met and I know you aren't the same either," He began, lifting a hand to cup her cheek gently, trail his thumb along her cheekbone. "I would like to get to know the woman you are Naomi, the woman that the teenager who stole my heart became." It was as close to admission of love that Bryce had ever made and he meant it with every fiber of his being.

It tugged a smile from her features and all she could do was smile as he stroked her cheek, "I'd like that, very, very much. I want to know who you are now, if you'll let me.." Because she could still see all the nuances that made him who he always was. But on the flip side there was still so many changes in the both of them. "Oh Bryce, I've done some things you'd be ashamed of me for. But.. they all got me here to be with you again.."

"Baby doll, I could never be ashamed of you," Bryce insisted, pulling her closer and wrapping his arm around her so he could haul her into his chest. "And I'm hardly one to be passing any judgment. My soul is hardly clean, my hands are dirty with the marks of my sins, Naomi. But we are here and I don't see any reason why we shouldn't just be glad of that."

She was quiet for a moment before she wrapped her arms around him and snuggled against him and damn anyone that was watching though they were very much alone. She let out a breath she hadn't realized she'd been holding before she spoke again. "About time, Bryce. Lord I missed you so much.."

He felt his heart squeeze a little as she snuggled close, and for just a moment he allowed himself the luxury of tipping his head forward to bury his nose in her hair and breathe her scent. It was enough to taje him back in his memory to that night, when things had been so fresh and new...and so utterly complicated. "I missed you too, Naomi. More than I could say," He admitted, wrapping his arms around her tighter and resting head on hers.

All she could do was hold onto him and let his smell envelope her, she craved this moment on her memory too. The smell of the river and the sound of the water rushing over the rocks, the light of the evening sun slowly dipping downwards. And then.. there was him, strong, tall, holding her close and offering to let her in.
"We should.. go somewhere.."

He held her for a moment longer, considering what she was saying. He'd gone this far, he'd offered to let her in and she was willing to walk through the door her opened, he couldn't draw back now, he didn't want too. "I think that's a brilliant idea, baby doll. I think we have quite a bit to say to one another."

She took his hand in hers and smiled a little bit as she stepped back from him but stayed close. "Where should we go? My place is father than this.."
