Pup walked into Tibby's alone. He was bored and Tibby's was one of his favorite places. He froze as he heard sobs. He found the source. A little girl was crying. He walked up to her and gently put a hand on her shoulder. He thought it was pointless to ask if she was alright. She obviously wasn't alright. Instead he took out a special marble he had and placed it in her hand, smiling gently and not saying a word.

Feeling a soft and small hand on her shoulder, she looked up and saw a boy that looked like he was either younger, or her age. Looking at the marble in her hand, her blue eyes were still filled with tears, and her face was still wet. She didn't understand why he gave her the marble, but she smiled at him softly. "I'm Connie." She said in her accent.

"Oh, I'm Pup." He replied in a shy voice, smiling slightly.
"You okay Connie? Ya looked real upset?" He asked, a concerned look on his dirty face.

She smiled at him. "Yeah, I think I'm alright now, thanks." Moving over so he could sit down, she took his hand before then, and placed the marble back in his hand.

"I'm a newsie heah in Hattan. What about you?" He asked.

Blushing, she nodded her head and put it in her pocket where she keeps her book. The book was still on the table and she asnwered him. "I'm in Queens."

>>>New Day<<< Z walked into the cafe humming and eased into a booth, rubbing her hands to get feeling back into them. Picking up the menu she scanned it. It'd been awhile since she had the soup here and it sounded perfect to ward off the cold today. Sitting back into the booth she relaxed, humming a song she couldnt get out of her head all the while looking around to see if anyone she knew was in the cafe today.

((New))
Christiana leaned on the counter top looking at the morning crowd, a glazed look in her eye. All morning suits were rushing in on their way to work as were newsies and other works. Now she finally had some down time and was on the verge of falling asleep herself. She wasn't allowed to drink the coffee while she worked which suited her just fine. It wasn't exceptionally good anyway. There were better coffee shops in Manhattan. Yawning, she closed he eyes momentarily, hoping she didn't fall asleep. She really needed something to wake her up.

Scar walked through the door his head dipped low, his eyes darting about the cafe checking to make sure he didn't see a familiar unwelcome face. When he finally decided that there was no one in this place that should worry him he lifted his face and gazed at Christiana. Well, well she was a pretty little thing. He put on a charming smile and walked over to her, "Do you think I could get a cup of coffee, lass? You look as tired as I feel, maybe you should have one too."

Christiana rose a single brow as she tiredly opened her eyes while he spoke. Straightening from her lazed slouching position, she managed, "Sure thing."
She mixed him a cup of plain black coffee. "I'm not allowed." Pushing the cup to him, she added, "35 cents."

He raised an eyebrow and dropped the change on the counter. "Why not? Ye'd think that rule would only apply if you worked at a pub." He smirked and took a sip of his coffee as he leaned an elbow on the counter and smiled at her.

Christiana grinned, chuckling a little. "You'd think so, huh?" She didn't know why the workers weren't allowed coffee while working. It wasn't as it it could affect their judgment or behavior like spirits. Her boss never explained and she never asked either. Coffee wasn't her thing anyway.
"I guess he just don't like giving out free coffee. Heaven forbid he just take it from my pay."

Scar laughed, "Yes, heaven forbid it lassie." His smiled broadened and he took a swig of his coffee before setting it back on the counter. "So what made ye want to work for such a penny pincher? I'm sure you could've made more money even if ye were sewin' or the like."

She shrugged. "It's the best I could do with the little time I had. Ya see, I'm trying to do better," she paused, circling the counter with her her index finger, "'cause I've hurt some people I wish I hadn't. Now I have to show them I'm better...and me."

Scar held back a snort, he had a feeling he'd probably have liked the old her better. "If ye have to prove yerself to someone they aren't worth the time o' day." With a shrug Scar continued to sip his drink. "It's my opinion that people are who they are and no one's gonna be changin that."
