Peaches chuckled, "I guess I should have paid better attention, huh?" With the next guy to catch her interest, she would be sure to pay closer attention to how well he was holding his liquor and how much liquor he was consuming. She didn't want a repeat of last time.
Peaches pulled her shawl from the back of her chair, and draped it over her shoulders. "Well, sugar, I better get going. I've got to stop over to the 'Hattan Lodging House again before I make my way to Caprice Hall. I don't wanna be walking to Queens at night by myself." She stood up and pushed in her chair. "Hey, good luck tonight with the girls. Try not to hurt too many of them," she added smiling.

NEW DAY Fighter made herself comfortable at a table in the back of the cafe while waiting for her sandwich. She didn't make it a habit to travel this far from Brooklyn but she'd been in the walking mood and had ended up in Harlem. It was a nice day to have off from work. The sun was shining and it wasn't too hot or too cold. She pulled her hat from her head and ran a hand through her knotted curls. She really should do something about them but she couldn't bring herself to car when she'd gotten out of bed that morning. It had just been easier for her to grab her hat and head out then to try to comb through the mess. A small sigh escaped her lips and her eyes darted around the small cafe, taking in the faces of all of the patrons. It seemed they were having a slow afternoon or maybe Fighter had just missed the rush but she was glad there wasn't much of a crowd. Lately she'd been avoiding crowds as much as possible, which was incredibly difficult given she worked in a popular bar and lived in Brooklyn, New York. It was nice to have a small break from the crushing crowds.
