Vain looked down at the cigarette without taking it before she turned her gaze forward. "You have sincere eyes." She looked at him again and gave him a sarcastic smile. "Why'd ya leave New Joisey then? Wanted fame in the big city?" Vain made a quick stop and handed a newspaper to a man who held out a coin. She took it and went up beside Joe again.

"Fame is only worth something if you want it love." Joe smiled charmingly at her and waited as she sold a pape. "I dont." he took one last drag of his cigarette and crushed it with his foot before he continued walking. "You gonna ask me how i know where the crowd will be or are you just going to wish you did later?" He winked at her and sold a paper to a man by the lamp post. He handed her the money, lightly, briefly he stroked her skin on the back of her hand, almost like it was unintentional, before he continued walking.

(NEW DAY)
Piper turned onto Cherry street with her papers in hand and her hair in a ponytail, draping over her left shoulder and her bang away from her face by pinning them behind her eyes. She loved going onto Cherry, always busy and always something to do there. She felt like skipping down the lane but decided not to because other newsies would look at her funny. She strolled instead, holding her papers and hoping someone would buy from her

Rex was taking a walk, all finished with his job at the stables, at least for a little while. His boss, Mr.Carson, practically begged him to leave before he stirred up any more fuss than he already did. He had gotten a hold of a rope and lassoed just about everything in sight.
Rex grinned contagiously as he walked, he loved Manhattan sometimes. It had just as much energy as he had. The streets were always full of people mingling and merchants and street vendors. He did a front flip and then continued to bounce down the street until he collided into a newsgirl and the papers went everywhere.
"Hehe oops sorry, look its raining newspapers!" Rex joked before bending to pick them up.

Piper felt herself running to another person and she fell, her papers flying in the air and her head slamming into the ground. She got up but felt a little woozy. She started picking up papers and heard the boys remark about flying papers. She smiled and giggled from his remark.

"So sorry, didn't mean to knock you over like that, missy. You alright? You ain't seeing birdies right? How many fingers am I holding up?" Rex asked genuinely concerned before cracking a smile and laughing. He could never stop himself from making jokes.
"Seriously though, You alright? Here's the rest of your papers," Rex said holding them out to her, a charming smile on his sleek face.

"I'm fine, thanks. I think I can make it." Piper replied in a joke as she looked up and gently took the rest of the papers from the stranger. She fixed her red hair from being in the way and smiled at him, holding out her hand for him to shake.
"I'm Piper." Piper replied, introducing herself in her signature grin.

"I'm Piper."
"Alexander T. Sanders" Rex said in a formal voice before adding, "But...you can call me Rex." He laughed and grinned again.
"Any good headlines today?" Rex asked taking one of the papers and flipping through it before flipping her a dime.

"Well, hello Rex." Piper replied and looked through her papers to see if something was really interesting.
"Eh, the same ol' same ol' stories that people buzz about. Attempted murde', some scandal a brawd didn't see comin'." Piper replied as she looked from page to page, seeing the headlines pop out at her.

"Hmm yeah hehe, the usual. You would think in such a place like New York that every headline would be exciting. There's so many things always happening, new things in the society, new buildings going up, strikes, labor problems, just yesterday walked past the tenements and saw the whole entire apartment building leading a little protest, too crammed and their water pipes aren't even working." Rex told Piper, shaking his head.

"Geeze sounds like a riot almost broke out there. Well I was walkin' over the other day here when a fight broke out, two blokes were fighin' over a goil who didn't even like either of them. Cherry street is free entertainment i guess ." Piper replied in a smirk and shrugged.

"Yeah, I figures that why Cherry street is one of your selling spots then?" Rex asked grinning and tugging on the button of his open collared shirt.
Rex wasn't a newsie himself, he worked at the stables in Queens at the Racetrack, but he knew lots of newsies, including Muse, who he considered and basically was a sister to him. So he knew the gist of selling papers.

"One of mine ya." Piper replied in a grin and looked around for a brief second. The whole street was vivacious and full of life, something Piper looked forward to seeing everyday. She could hear some music being play in the back round, it sounded foreign as if it was from Ireland, but she love it anyways.
"So, whereabouts are you from?" Piper asked Rex aloud in wonder.

"So, whereabouts are you from?"
"Born in Wisconsin, but I live in Queens, above the livery at the racetrack. I work there as a stable hand. I like it, but I like Manhattan too, so I come here a lot. I have my own buggy and horse, so I run my own little driving business. Hire myself out to anybody that needs a ride. And I go to Brooklyn lots, got a sister there, so I kinda go all overs the place."

"Ah, well look who's the traveler here eh? I have a brotha who works the docks in Brooklyn. I venture out there." Piper explained in a cheery tone as she cocked her head to the side.
