Corsair raised his eyebrows. "A raven? Care to explain..." Raven's were loud and annoying. He knew Caleb wouldn't think that of him...or would he?

"Cunning and flashy," he grinned at his friend and nudged him. No he didn't think of him loud or annoying but the cunning and flashy part of the bird was very much like his friend.

Corsair chuckled. "Oh right...thanks.." He smiled and nudged Caleb back. Looking back out at the coming storm. "Think we should take cover?"

He nodded and shoved his hands into his pockets, "Lets head to the hotel in Queens--"

Corsair smirked. "Sounds good...I like Queens..." And he was in no way referring to the city.

((New Day...))
...and a Beautiful day at that! Mush Meyers couldn't believe how things had cleared up and become so beautiful all in seemingly one night. The storm just the other evening had been awful, one of the worst to hit the city in years. Mush wasn't a fan of storms... they were limiting.
But it seemed nothing could make him happier than to be outside today, and not just that, but he was on his way to see Alanna! He hadn't gotten around to telling her his plans for the future yet, and he was rather proud of himself too. The money wouldn't be easy to get to learn, but... he was down right determined. And just that thought alone caused him to pick up the pase as he strolled across the bridge, he even started to whistle.

Corsair slowly made his way back to the bridge a few days later, though he was unsure why. Maybe to get his thoughts back in order. This whole 'lie low' thing was harder then he thought sometimes, so he usually liked to find places where he didn't think anyone would either see him or pay too much attention to him.
As he continued his slow, almost bored walk, he heard a happy whistle and looked up to see who was making such an annoying sound. He was surprised to see that he actually recognized the face. "Vic..?" He said as he got close to speak without talking too loudly.

Mush froze on the spot at the sound of the name. Even Alanna never called him that, and she sure wasn't anywhere near by... this wasn't good. Mush looked a little closer at the person who had spoken to him and took a couple of steps backwards. Two words came to mind in mush's head... that should be said aloud for fear children would hear them.
"...C...Corsair..." he said blinking furiously praying it was a dream, an illusion, something fake! it wasn't there... Mush had just caught that... whatever Lanna's friend had and it was messing with his head. Oy... he was going to faint... or be sick if this were real... no... it couldn't be. They couldn't come back now!

Corsair smiled, actually happy to see the kid. It was nice to see a familiar face. "Vic, chill." He said, now a bit more seriously. He couldn't let him just take off and tell the whole newsie world that they were back, that would just screw everything up, and he didn't want to have to hurt Vic. He was sure that he probably didn't go by 'Vic' anymore but he didn't know his 'newsie' name.
"I just want to talk, nothing more..." He said, as if afraid that saying too much would make him take off. "So...what do you go by now Vic?"

As unfortunate as it was, the man had a point. Didn't mean Mush wasn't scared half outta his skull!!! These guys couldn't have come back at a worse time for him. But he took a deep breath. The last thing he needed to do at this point was give away any information that could hurt him, the newsies, and most importantly Alanna. "Oh..." he said with a slight shrug, and relaxing a little more. "Just... same old... Victor," he said with a small shrug.
He eased himself into the situation slowly. "Sorry about that," he said shaking his head, and even managing a smile, "I... uh... didn't expect to see you... caught me off guard! Been gone for so long and all... what's... got you back in town?" In his head Mush was praying that he was coming back to make a clean start, make amends, and start over.

"Same old Victor huh?" He smiled, doubting that very much. Very few thieves who left ever kept their names, wanted to make a new start, which couldn't be done with their old reputations. But no worries, he'd find out eventually what people actually called him now. He was glad that he was at least attempting to look relaxed now. Corsair didn't want attention draw to them just because Vic was scared.
"Don't worry about it, I guess I couldn't expect anything less then shock in seeing me. It makes sense." he leaned against the railing of the bridge, in a very relaxed pose. He shrugged at the last question, what he was doing back. He obviously wasn't going to mention Marauder, knowing that both of them were back was that last thing he wanted to tell him. "So, how's life going now?" He asked, trying to make polite conversation...as well as get any info he could, about Victor or anyone else for that matter.

Mush knew this wasn't all gonna fly... but that wasn't going to keep him from trying! The man wasn't known for his lying... he was known for his charm... and his way of attracting girls... or... at least getting them interested or... whatever it was he did that some how got him the girl he was with now. He could mention the newsies, there were loads of those in New York. Wouldn't hurt nothin'.
Though he did notice Corsair avoid the question, Mush pushed ahead the the difficult and... trying conversation. "Well I'm sellin' papes now," he explained. "Umm, news papers." He shrugged. "I mean, I guess it's alright and all, but there's so many annoying kids running around, " lie, "that I don't spend much time around the... newsie... lodging houses," lie."But the good news is there's lotsa pretty girls that like to hang around the older boys who sell papes," not true, not false... "so I can pretty much date whoever I want in the city," lie. Besides there was only one girl he wanted, and he was hell bent on protecting her at this moment.
...though he thought about it. He wondered why Corsair was back in town... and if it was to get back into the theiving business... as awful as it was Mush started to relapse almost instantly. How else was he gonna get the money to provide a good future for Alanna? He was a little newsie kid... and with Corsair... well... there was a chance.

Being a thief, Corsair could see through at least most of his lies. He didn't push it however, he didn't blame him for wanting to protect himself and anyone else he cared about. "Well then...that sounds like fun...how's the money?" He asked, a slight smirk appearing on his lips, he knew well enough that newsies had a hard life, they never got paid very much, then had to use what they had to by papers for the next day. Corsair never did see the point of that, when he could do something like thieving for a better 'pay'.
Of course, not everyone was good enough at that to avoid getting caught and put in jail, for them, there wasn't much more of a choice then being a newsie. Vic was just a kid, and he hadn't been a bad thief, they could use him, but now wasn't the time, no not yet.

Mush looked at him and... well... lost face a little. "Could be better," he said admitting it. "But ya get ta be real good, and you can make quite a bit a day... honestly," he said, and this was as honest and relaxed as Mush had been through the whole conversation, "bein' a newsie and being a theif, aren't all that different. The difference is, when you're a newsie, people know you're takin' their money... and instead of just takin' you kinda... ask for it. It evens things out a little more.
"Still," he said getting into dangerous territory with this conversation, "I have a feeling that I'm gonna need to start making better money soon." And Mush had no idea how hard times were gonna get. Things were going to get bad quick... and in more ways than one, for all the kids in New York.

Corsair smirked when he admitted that the money could be better and laughed at his comparison between being a thief and a newsie. People know you're taking their money. That was clever. "Yeah, I guess that's true. The hard part, is that some people are just too attached to their money and don't want to give it to a dirty street kid." He smiled lightheartedly however.
He couldn't be happier when Victor admitted that he might have to start making more money soon. Corsair simply nodded but definitely took note of it, there would definitely come the opportunity in due time. "Yeah," he said with an easy nod. "Things are getting tough aren't they?"
