"Then don't offer any kind of commentary if you don't have anything constructive to add, it just makes you come off as an ass.." she lifted her chin, she had learned things the last little while. Learned to speak her mind and knowing it would make people hate her. But better be hated for what you are then everyone's doormat.

He continued facing the river, but turned his head, catching her out of the corner of his eye. "Yeah? Well don' get snippy with someone ya don' know, just makes you come off as a hoity-toity snob." He knew the second he saw her she was money, no one else wore such ridiculous hats and lacy dresses. He was sick of people like her talking down to guys like him

"What about anything I said was snobbish?" she asked. "You see fine clothes and you think high life, my life is no better than yours you made a rash assumption... like you are better than me? I never said I was better than you I just said you social skills needed improvement.."

He smirked and shook his head as he turned around, taking a final drag on his cigarette before flicking it over the ledge. "An' why is that? Cause I didn't tip my hat an' bow down to ya? Cause I didn't dive in aftah your hat?" He shrugged, leaning casually against the railing and crossing his arms over his chest. "I was nuthin' but civil, but you couldn't pass up the chance ta teach one of us street rats how we ought ta behave, huh? But what the hell, if it makes ya all warm inside, helps ya sleep in ya silk sheets at night, hey, I'll be more 'an happy to oblige." He took a deep bow, sweeping off his hat as he did so. "That bettah?"

"You think I have it so much better?" she straightened her back and gave him a look that could peel the paint off of a cannon ball. "You are sadly mistaken, sir. You think that everyone that passes by is making a judgment on you, why do you even talk if all you are going to do is try and make someone feel like they are so privileged to get your attention... why do you even bother to comment? Like you are some authority on everything... it just makes you come off as a pompus ass.."

He looked at her a moment after she spoke and rubbed his chin. "What exactly are you refrrin' to here?" As much as he was enjoying the argument, he wasn't positive what his offense against her was to begin with. "Listen, if you felt privileged cause I talked to ya, trust me, your the first, so don' go blamin' me."

She rolled her eyes and waved her hand. "You completely missed my point, on purpose... you act like it's a privileged if you take interest in anyone or anything at all--- it's degrading.." She was probably on the defensive more than she should be, so she took a breath and tried to think. She wasn't sure if she was just offended or defensive.

He shrugged, leaning on one shoulder as he faced her. "Well, I disagree." He never apologized for things he did do, much less things he didn't. Instead, he contented himself with simply not agreeing with her analysis of his character. Glancing down the street he pushed himself off the railing, securing his hat on his head and sticking his hands in his pockets, pausing before taking a step. "We done heah?"

"Are we?" she looked away for a moment. "I shouldn't be so quick to judge but you shouldn't be so quick to act like all that matters is your own world, everyone shares this one and you have to live with that--" she turned, it really was time to go.

He chuckled inwardly, shaking his head slightly as he tipped his hat to her. "Sure, whatevah you say sweet'art." He grinned, an actual genuine grin, before turning and heading off down the street.

She watched him go and scowled a little, before shaking her head and heading for the law offices of that slick lawyer she was going to get hired-- threw an Aunt. Did what you had too, but she did catch his grin.

Alice's eyes glanced around casually as she walked, though her stance was clearly defensive. These were her first steps on these streets and she had told herself to be prepared, not knowing what could happen. Her hands were in her pockets as she stepped onto the bridge. She's seen lorenzo as she'd approached the bridge and she noticed that he seemed a little flustered. She wasnt sure why until she got closer and saw him throw a packet of matches and then an unlit cigarette over the edge of the bridge. She couldnt help but smirk a little, it really was kind of funny to her. She didnt know the guy, but she was pretty sure that it wasnt as funny to him. When she was only a few steps away she stopped andpulled a cigarette out of her pocket. "Hey" she began unsure exactly why she was doing this, "you okay?"

Tyler's eyes took in new york. He'd heard storys but he'd never been out of chicago before so it was all new to him. His footsteps matched alices as they walked through the streets until he stopped for a minute to light up a cigarette. He quickly caught up to her againand unconciously copied alice by slipping his left hand into his pocket. He didnt have to look at her to know that she was a little tense in this new city where they would hopefully be staying. He on the other hand was comepletely easy going about it. He liked the freshness of a new city that took him far from their past. He didnt mean to but as they neared the bridge he eyed lorenzo warily. From his experiences he had developed reflexes that made him feel unnerved when around strangers. Being new in town and not knowing anyone other than alice didnt help that much but he didnt mind much, he knew she would be there to help him if he needed it. He paused when she stopped unsure of what she was doing. He had seen the man throw matches and a cigarette over the bridge but he hadnt seen the many attempts to light it. When she pulled one of tylers spare cigarettes from her pocket he understood what she was doing but she wasnt sure why until he saw the look on the mans face. They werent usually ones to reach out to people, not after their pasts but he knew that alice would have seen the mans face and felt bad for him, especially because he seemed to be shaking. He rolled his eyes and took the cigarette from her, lighting it off of his and holding it out to the stranger as alice asked if he was okay.

Alice didnt seem surprised when the man turned around quickly. She hadnt been sure that he'd heard them coming and she knew that he might have been caught off guard. "Welcome" she said as she stuck her hands back in her pockets. She wasnt sure why he hadnt answered her first question but she let it slide, not wanting to bother the stranger.

Tyler nodded at lorenzo when he thanked them for the cigarette that for some reason he hadnt stuck in his mouth yet. Tyler hadnt thought that lorenzos reaction was anything unusal, most people didnt hear him coming. He tended to surprise people even when he didnt mean to so he'd just gotten used to the reactions. Didnt mean that he didnt feel kind of bad for scaring this guy, he already seemed pretty twitchy as it was.
