"Well," he said with a shrug. "I dunno what I'm gonna do I mean..." he looked Corsair up and down once. "Face it, none of us are as young as we used to be." He chuckled a little at this remark. "And some day we aren't gonna be able to get by on our good looks anymore," Mush did have a certain charm about him, after all. "...I'm just plannin' for that," he said honestly.
It was no lie he knew that it would happen all too soon. They wouldn't be cute kids anymore... and bein' a thief again... was lookin' better. No! No, that would be really really bad. He couldn't do that to Alanna, that would put her in too much danger, he could lose her all together, then what would he do...
"Hey look... ummm... Corsair, it's been great and all..." he was thinkin' he needed to get out of here before he got talked into his old ways, either by himself, or Corsair, "I'm thinkin' I need to be movin' on."

Corsair listened patiently, almost seeing Vic tearing himself apart back and forth. He knew he could probably get the kid to come back when it was time. He was charming. It was a good skill for a theif. Personally, Corsair could care less about 'personal' issues that would keep people back. He was usually just a business man. Though on occasion he was seen to have a heart. Though have the time it was an act. There were few people he really cared about.
As Victor began to make his way out. Corsair nodded. "Yeah, it's been nice talking to you Vic. We'll see you later." The way he said it made it sound like a promise, and not just a friendly goodbye. "Good luck with your 'papes' " He said in a teasing manner.

"Heh, thanks," he smiled a little. "And... later," that was weird... it sounded as though he was being locked into some verbal contract.
Mush decided he would continue his trip into the Bronx, but go towards Dodger instead... he needed to talk to him now!!! He stopped. "Hey Corsair," he said turning back, "why are you back in New York City again?" he had never gotten an answer before.

Corsair was glad the kid had stopped, he had almost forgotten something very important. "Not sure yet..." He answered and walked back towards Victor. "By the way...if I were you. I'd watch who you tell about this little 'encounter'. It might not be too smart, if you know what I mean..." Yeah, it was a threat.
Marauder would kill him if word got out about them being back before it was time. Only a few people knew and he wanted to keep it that way. Good thing he hadn't mentioned Marauder.

And Mush knew it was a threat, and he wasn't gonna tell anyone... ...but Dodger. He had to tell Dodger, if anyone had to know, it had to be Dodger, and Mush would risk the Bronx leader finding out. He had to... it was the only option. "Right, yeah... not like it's important, no one's gotta know..." he said as though it were obvious... and just a casual statement.
As far as the reason for being back in New York? ...he wasn't gonna push his luck.

Corsair gave a smirky smile and stepped back to let him go now. "Thanks..." He said then turned and walked away.
(Sorry so short)

Mush started by walking backwards before he turned and walked forward. He put his hands in his pockets and walked to the edge of the bridge. He tossed a glance over his shoulder. When he was sure Corsair was outta sight... he took off running for the boys' lodging house in the Bronx.
He was starting already to plan about how he was not only going to keep this from Lanna, but keep her safe from it... he hated lying to her... but what option did he have?

{New day}
Daphne grumbled as she walked down the street. Today was not her day. She had been out looking for work all day and had found nothing. She also got covered in mud by as carriage that decided it wasn't going to be nice. To top it all off, she got hit on by this creepy drunk guy.
She had given up. She couldn't look for work anymore, she was to frustrated. Now what she needed was a good swim. That would cool her nerves off.
So, she was heading for the Harlem river. Finally, she arrived. Daphne smiled, thrilled with the idea to just jump in the water. Quickly, she removed her clothing, leaving her with just her undergarments. She wasn't very shy, and if someone came up, she would just fight them off.
Daphne ran to the end of the river and jumped in. She felt so refreshed as she emerged from the water, panting for breath.

-- New Day --
Leaning against the cold railing Jim looked out at the river, taking a drag on his cigarette. He'd been working so much since returning to New York he rarely got a chance to just stop and relax, and it was wearing on him. He sighed, turning and leaning his back against the cold bar and watched as people bustled past, briefly musing at the continuous rushed state of the city.

Evie was one of the people bustling past, that blasted hat was firmly on her head and she was carrying a lot of books. emancipation from her brother was high on her mind and she needed to know the legalities, she wanted to sue for the house, and for the greenhouse and get rid of her brother once and for all. If she talked to the police-- yet there was still that she couldn't get to her inheritance. She needed to prove she was competent.
As she went by she dropped a book and she stopped, reaching down to capture her dropped piece of sanity the wind kicked up and her hat took flight. Into the river. She yelped and grabbed her book, running over to the edge and looking down at the water.
"Oh Butters.." she was grinding her teeth too. This was just to much.

Jim couldn't help but smirk as a passing woman's extravagant hat got caught up in the wind and dropped gracefully into the river. He turned again, resting his elbows on the railing and taking a drag on his cigarette. As she rushed up beside him and looked down into the dark water he blew out a puff of smoke, glancing over at her. "Tough luck." He wasn't trying to be a jerk, it was his attempt at sympathy.

She locked her jaw, "No kidding.." she sighed and watched it get eaten by the waves as she looked down at the book in her heads. "Better that stupid hat than this..." She couldn't afford to loose her chance at freedom, it was a long hard road for a woman of standing.

He glanced down at her book and shrugged, not sure why it meant so much to her and not interested in finding out. "Yeah, I guess." He continued to puff at his cigarette, looking back out at the river and watching the hat rush farther down stream.

She watched and said little more, standing there and finally casting him a glance. Shaking her head Evie sighed, running her hands threw her long hair. "I'm sorry to disturb your solitude.." she took a step away from the banister and glanced at him sideways as she moved to leave. "You know, your social skills could use a little work..." if you don't care, don't remark.

He turned around to face her, blowing out a cloud of smoke before replying. "Gee that's funny, I don' remember askin' for your opinion." He turned back around, resuming his former position leaning on the ledge.
