Footsteps on the upper floor. Ghost whirled around to look at the steps. Someone else was there. The thought would not normally have scared him, but with the news of a violent criminal out and about, he was growing more and more paranoid.
"Hello?" He could have smacked himself. This was his first mistake... you were never to yell 'hello' in a building where there may be an escaped convict.

Azzo came back out from the room and peered down. It was a small voice, not one that could come from a cop. He saw a little boy who looked to be at least nine from where he was standing.
"What're you doin' here, kid?"

Oh God... the convict was here... and talking to him. Ghost paled and his eyes widened considerably as he stared at the man before him. Finally he got his vocal chords to work and he motioned to the peach core on the ground. "I... I got... got a peach an'... I... I was hungry," he whispered, the words barely audible because of his always hoarse sounding voice.
"I'm sorry, though," Ghost said a little louder this time, swiftly kicking the peach core right out the door. It never occurred to him that he could run away and that would be the end of that. "I-I-I didn't mean t-to disturb you, sir..."

He furrowed his eyebrows while trying to figure out what the boy was saying. He caught a few words every now and again, but it didn't help much. He looked around the building, making sure no one else was there.
"You alone?"

Was he alone. Well, it was pretty obvious, but just in case this guy was blind or just checking, Ghost nodded. His eyes never left the convict's face, never moved, and he was sure that he wasn't blinking.
"Y-you are they guy they're talking about... in the papers..." he mumbled, not really pointing this out because he already knew that, but more like reminding himself of the situation that he was in.
It wasn't a very good one.

It wouldn't be the first time. Police tried everything to catch who they were after and that didn't exclude sending in an innocent decoy to lead him to them. A guy on the run never could be too careful.
He began walking down the old stairs, lighting a cigarette as he went along. He took a puff and nodded. "Yeah, that's me, but don't worry. I aint gonna hurt you."

"Yeah, that's me, but don't worry. I aint gonna hurt you."
Ghost visibly relaxed. So he wasn't going to get hurt being there... that certainly made him less anxious. It was about this time that he realized he could have run out the door at any moment, and began to wonder why he hadn't.
"What're you doing here? Wouldn't you want to be someplace less," his eyes darted to the window and door, "out there?"

"I am where I am" Azzo shrugged. "Haven't been found, yet."
This kid asked a lot of questions that were both annoying and antagonizing. He now remembered why he didn't like kids too much. He threw his cigarette to the ground and stomped it.
"But you're right in a way. I've all ready spent too much time here."

When the boy stomped on the cigarette, Ghost jumped and uttered a small 'I'm sorry'. He didn't know if he could believe the papers, but a criminal was a criminal and everyone had a tendency to get violent if you pushed them far enough.
"But you're right in a way. I've all ready spent too much time here."
"Oh," he mumbled, staring at the remains of the cigarette. "Okay..."

He nodded, casually turning around. He walked a little ways away and retrieved a full burlap sack that lay on the floor. He put the hat that was sitting on the bag on his head and threw the sack over his shoulder.
"Be seein' ya," was the last thing he said before walking out the door.

* New Day *
Her shoes skid across the wet sidewalk as she abruptly stopped, one hand hitting the concrete to prevent herself from falling over. Marie saw an open door to what appeared to be an empty building, and as another crack of thunder boomed up above, she decided to take her chances.
Stepping into the dark building she pressed herself up against the wall, heaving for air. She had just been going for a walk, something she did most days, but decided to try and take a new way home. When the rain started falling she grew panicked, quickly getting disoriented. Now she was lost, alone, and most horrifying of all-- soaking wet.

"Getting bad out there isn't it?" Said a deep voice from the darkness of the building. His voice seemed to echo in the emptiness. A red spot of light from his cigarette burned brightly against his face in the dark, but as he put it out he seemed to disappear.
He stepped out of his hidden corner so the girl could see him, no point in scaring her even more then she already looked. "By the looks of it, it got worse after I got here..." The girl was soaking wet. Of course he was wet as well but it hadn't been too long before he found this spot. "You ok?"
((Hope you don't mind me joining you))

((Of course not!))
Marie jumped at the voice, clutching a shaky hand to her chest. Staring at what she could see of his face her shoes scuffed softly on the floor as she unconsciously tried to sink further into the wall. As he came near into the pale gray light from outside she slid against the wall away from him, too panicked to realize she was moving away from the only visible exit. She wiped a few wet strands from her face and wrapped her arms around herself as she found her voice. "Get away from me!" She truly didn't hear a word he had said, but even in her fear an ever present haughtiness could be detected in her tone. "Don't you come any closer!"

Corsair stopped moving towards her and raised his hands up to show he wasn't going to hurt her. She was obviously terrified. He couldn't blame her. "Hey hey, it's ok. I'm not going to hurt you." He smiled a soft gentle smile, one rarely seen from Corsair, but he couldn't help but feel bad for the girl. She looked terribly out of sorts. He stood completely still, his hands still up. "Are you alright?" He asked again. "You're not hurt are you?" After all, being scared and wet could really make any injury she might have terribly worse.

Marie remained against the wall but her heavy breathing began to subside. She was not used to running. Hearing what he was asking her she shifted uncomfortably, looking down at herself and tugging her sopping blouse away from her skin. "I'm wet." To Marie, it was as bad as any injury.
