Corsair smiled again at her answer. "Yeah, I noticed." He was about to move towards again, but decided he would wait until she was definitely comfortable. Instead he pulled off his heavy leather jacket. It was definitely wet on the outside but dry and warm on the inside. "Here, put this on...it'll at least keep you warm until we can get you dry. I'm afraid there isn't much we can do until the storm stops." He held out the jacket and took one small step towards her.

Marie eyed him wearily for a moment before taking a small step toward him, grabbing the coat, and quickly returning to her spot against the wall. She wrapped it around herself while keeping a watchful eye on the man. "Who are you?"
In Marie's world men always offered their coats, so such an expected gesture deserved no thanks on her part.

Corsair was at least glad that she took his jacket, even though she was afraid him. About half of the people he came across were afraid of him, so it didn't faze him too much. "I'm Corsair." He introducted himself, he rarely told people his real name. Only a very select few actually knew it, and even less then that used it.
"Who are you?" He asked, trying to make friendly conversation so that she might relax a little.

She looked at him a moment before answering. "I'm Marie Adams." There was a tone in her voice that suggested he should have known this. The daughter of one of the wealthiest families in New York? She wasn't used to people who didn't know of her, but she only ever hung around with sycophants and snobs, and living in her bubble for so long had created an illusion of immense self-importance.

Adams...he actually did recognize the name, though not the girl. Being who he was, how could he not know who the Adams family were. He grinned and nodded. "Well it's a pleasure to meet you miss." He said politely, tilting his head in a almost bowing fashion. "May I ask what you are doing out here?"

She sniffed slightly, her haughtiness actually giving her courage. This man was no different than the rest, he was just another street person. "It's no real concern of yours now is it?"

Corsair could tell how proud the girl was and in some ways all he wanted to do was break her, but right now he would rather be on her good side. "No, I suppose it isn't...." He answered, in as much of a soft tone as he could, trying not to get annoyed with her attitude.

She gave a curt nod but jumped slightly as a crack of thunder echoed outside. Looking around she sighed, getting over her panic and becoming fed up with her current situation. She wanted to go home. She eyed the man again and shifted in the coat, she rather wished he would go away, but with that not seeming to be an option she decided to give a little, answering his earlier question. "I was walking home. And I got lost."

He was no longer smiling, but neither was he frowning. Though he almost wanted to. "I'm sorry you got lost. If you would like, when the storm stops, I can take you home...or to the nearest main street, whichever you prefer." He leaned against the nearest wall, sensing the way she was uncomfortable with him there.

She thought about it a moment before sighing. "I suppose you should escort me home. It is getting dark, after all." She stood there in his coat, avoiding his gaze and looking at nothing.

Corsair smiled in the darkness now that she had agreed. He looked outside, the rain was starting to subside but it was still sprinkling. "Would you like to go now or when the rain had completely stopped?" He asked.

She peered out the door, her lips pressed tight in thought. Her hair was already soaked, most of it having fallen down from a once elegant twist atop her head. She also had his coat, so it wasn't as if her clothes would get any more wet than they already were...
"I would like to go now."

Corsair nodded and gave her a small soft smile. "Then let's go." He started to walk towards the door, making sure not to actually stop for her or walk too close. She was way too jumpy. As he stepped out into the soft rain his once dry shirt was slowly being littered with spots of water, but he didn't care. "You may want to hold the jacket over your head." He suggested as he walked.

She did as he suggested, balancing the heavy coat atop her head as she stepped out into the soft rain. She followed him as she went, having no idea where they were.
((bah! I totally spaced on this thread, so sorry! we can continue at her house if you'd like!))

( No problem. Cool, why don't you start there. ) He led her out of the winding streets out onto one of the main ones. The whole time trying to think of what to say her. She was so jumpy he was afraid he said anything at all she might get freaked out, run away, and just get lost again. Once they were in familiar territory he decided it was time to speak up. "Ok, your turn, lead the way..." he said in as much of a friendly and patient voice as he could.
