He looked into her eyes and he wanted to shout yes, she could help him with his studying, but he clamped his mouth shut. Darry looked over to where Reeves and Danny were wrestling on the floor and Alice was sitting in her chair scolding them softly, trying to hide the laughter in her voice as she masterly embroidered a article she was sewing.
"please,i'se know you'se study alot,so a little family time plus jade would be very nice."
Darry let his heart take over for once instead of his mind. "Well, alright, if you really want me to Jade. Because I know Darry really wants to. I still got to get some studying in, but like you said, you can help me out." He grinned and let Jade pull him towards the small family area.

jade couldnt help but laugh in exitment as she followed darry and sat down,willing to let go of his hand but not really wanting too.
jade watched danny and reeves wrestle and she looked over at alice.
jade and her exchanged a happy smile.
jade nudged darry and gave him a smile.
"You'se study alot,when was da last time you'se had fun,or did dis?"
she asked very content,jade looked around and for some reason she wondered if she should ever visit her mother...even though she did that,she felt she needed closure,without realizing it,jade grasped her locket.

Darry shrugged a little guiltily. He usually came home from school and locked himself up in that room, studying, or taking much needed naps. When he was with his family, he couldn't help but be stressed out and a little sore about just about everything. He was the second to oldest, but being the oldest boy in the family, he thought of himself that he should be the one in charge. Yet he wasn't even working to provide for his family, he was letting his younger brothers do that.
"Not that often..." He admitted softly, he wasn't sure if he could remember the last time he actually just sat in the "parlor" with his whole entire family...or what was left of it. He hadn't went anywhere or done anything. He suddenly felt a little guilty or Reeves, who practically just wandered the city after work. Reeves had always been a more outdoors kid.

jade looked at him with concern in her eyes,but forced herself to look away,trying to push the lingering thoughts of her and char,when she had the knife,all the screams...'STOP!'
jade shouted to herself and almost jumped,why think of this now?not now of all these times...what if she got...no i cant think of that,the last time i thought of that i didn't leave the lodging house for two weeks.
she forced a smile on her face,she really needed a hug,but she didn't want to ruin this moment,if she could she would stay in this moment forever..she cared about all of them so much,It would be horrible,just awful if the incident happened again.but it won't jade thought it won't happen again she is gone.
she let go of darrys hand,afraid if she were to keep with this line of thought that she would break his hand accidently out of fear,she sat on the floor,were reeves and danny were sitting,panting from wrestling,jade smiled and reached over and let her hand fall on reeves shoulder,i would fight to the death if it ever would happen agagin,but it wont happen again,i wont let it.
jade thought and playfully ruffled his hair.

Reeves smiled a sweet little tired smile and took Jade's hand, giving it a brotherly kiss. He whispered, "You okay, Jade? You looks a little upset."
He was a little concerned about her. "Hey, why don't you stay the night here, huh? You can sleep in Alice's room. It will be dark soon anyway, and I don't want you walking home."

jade looked up at him,and shrugged,no one would miss her at the lodging house.
"If you'se don' mind."
jade scooched over to reeves and hugged him tightly,this new thought scaring her.
,she let go and sat back onto the couch and looked at darry,trying not to drown in his eyes.
what are ya studying,teach?" jade said and nudged him with a smile.

Reeves smiled and patted her hand. "Are you kidding me? We don't mind at all. Right Alice? Is it okay if Jade stays the night?" Reeves asked, his eyes showing his eagerness.
Alice nodded and smiled. "Of course, you know you are always welcome Jade. This place may be small, but we always make room."
what are ya studying,teach?"
"I'm studying geography. What's the capitol of Egypt?" He asked with a smile, his blue eyes twinkling as he waited for Jade's answer.

"Correct," Darry stated back simply with a grin. Darry was thinking about his education, he had an interesting course he was beginning. It was called Braille. It was a language consisting of small dots, more like little letters, that the blind could read using their fingers. He didn't want to teach at just any old school, he wanted to teach at a blind school.
He took out his book he had recieved with the tiny bumps on the page. He took Jade's hand and rested her finger on one of the letters.

jade looked at the book curiously,she looked at him,his eyes were dazzling,i knew he wanted me to ask about it,heck I wanted to know."What is dis,darry?"
I asked.
i concentrated on the dots beneath my fingers,what is this?

"What is dis,darry?"
Darry smiled, excited about his new knowledge and wanting to share it with a curious Jade.
"It's called Braille. It's an alphabet made of little dots. It's for the blind. When they lose their sight, they can't read anymore, so a young man named Louis Braille made these letters so that the blind could read with their fingers. Here, look at this. One dot is A. Two Dots is B. Three dots is C. But it gets more complicated after that. I'm learning it so perhaps maybe I can teach at a blind school." He explained softly, his eyes twinkling with pride and eagerness at what he was talking about.

"Yeah, I thought so too. It sure is." Darry said softly, smiling down at her hand resting on top of his. He was falling swiftly for Jade. He had liked her the moment he saw her, he just was too shy and caught up in his studies to admit it.
Danny was folding the newspaper, trying to form it into the shape of a bird. Reeves laid on the couch, his head resting in Alice's lap as she stroked his dark brown curls, smiling down at him. Reeves was no sissy or little kid, but he never refused Alice's soft touch and love at the end of the day. He had been stressed about his job and everything lately and this helped it diminish somehow slightly, at least for a little while.

jade forced herself to look away from darry and looked at reeves.
she sighed in contentment and she looked at there hands,jade debated whether to say something,but she couldn't think of what to say.
jade looked at the book and looked back at darry,
'he's gonna be a great teacher.'
jade thought and decided to voice he thoughts.
"You'se are gonna be a great teacher." jade said happily.and smiled at him,but she felt extremely inadequet,I mean,when she talked,she sounded so stupid compared to him,he was a teacher,she was a newsie,there is no way he will ever like me..jade looked down sadly and slowly took her hands back and laid them on her lap,he will want some amazingly smart teacher,i got nothing to offer,all a newsie gets me and a dime a day and a few black eyes.

"You'se are gonna be a great teacher."
Darry smiled and felt his face color slightly until he thought he caught a glimmer of sadness in Jade's demeanor. He knew he was right when she took her hands away and didn't look at him.
Her words echoed in his head. You'se. That was it. That's what made her upset. He tilted a hand under her chin and made her gently look into his eyes.
"Jade, you look at me now. You are a smart girl. If you think you're not good enough for me then you are dead wrong. Your heart is pure, you care for my family and me as if we were your own. You are kind and work hard. I couldn't ask for anything better than that. Your dialect doesn't matter to me. You grew up with that, and its not easy to change. It doesn't matter though, because I like it. It's a part of the way you are you know, and I wouldn't have you any other way." He finished his speech, looked into her eyes and kissed her gently on the speech, assuring her with his soft blue eyes.
