She nodded but gave a wry grin. "It aint so bad as lyin' on your deathbed but that don't mean it still aint woise then the streets."
She looked out at the bustling city, sinking back further against the crate with a sigh. "It wasn't anythin' really, I jist got in the middle o' somethin' I shouldn't 'ave. If it weren't for the one decent cop in the city I'd still be in theah. Not the foist time he's saved my rear eithah."

Pie furrowed his brow as he listened. Her explanation was good enough for him, no one really needed to elaborate on the mischief they got in, he was just happy she wasn't locked up for months like most kids were ; but then again most kids didn't have police friends. "Makin' friends wit bulls now? All your friends really must 'ave dissapeared..." He laughed a little only trying to lighten her mood a little.

Glancing up at him she shook her head. "Ah you're jist jealous you aint got connections like I do," she said with a playful smirk, though it was a bit short lived.
Looking back down at her feet she leaned forward, resting her elbows on her knees and chin in her hands. "They 'ave been dissapearin', but at least the sick ones gota excuse..." She was of course referring to the missing Manhattan leader, and with a sigh she sat up and mirrored Pie's earlier action, kicking a pebble and watching it bounce off the brick building.

Pie watched the rock skip out of the alley into the foot traffic before looking back at Sweets. He frowned again knowing what she was talking about and he couldn't help but feel the same way. However, he usually gave people benefit of the doubt, usually to fool himself into thinking something more positive. "Sweets, he said hes commin' back..." he mumbled, "he can't jus' forget.." Pie was ignorant.

Resisting the urge to reply with some sarcastic remark she simply sighed. As much as it angered her that Jack left, she certainly didn't want to take it out on Pie Eater. "We'll see I guess," she said, trying to keep the negativity from her voice.

Pie's face crumpled slightly, she was obviously sore about it - most of them were. He sighed and rested his chin on his knee unable to think of any convincing argument to sway her. ((sorry I'm having a total brain fart..))

((s'ok, it happens ;D))
She watched him for a second, a frown forming on her face. "Aw I'm sorry Pie, I jist. . " She paused, leaning her chin in her hands again and looking at the dirty ground. "Guess I jist miss 'im is all," she finished lamely. She was somewhat surprised by her own words, as It was really the first time she'd shifted from angry to sad in regards to Jack Kelly.

Pie smiled modestly, happy that she had come out and said that. The only reason they were mad was that they liked him, respected him, and down right missed him. "Don't be apologisin'...I feel that way too" He agreed with a shrug. He leaned aback against the bricks before piping up again. "Hey, ya hungry? I got somethin' might cheer you up more than anybody..." He smiled and pulled an old cigar box from the inner lining of his jacket.

She smiled, curiosity shining in her eyes. "Oh?" She sat up straighter and her grin broadened. "An' what might that be?" She was a sucker for surprises, so no matter what was in the box Pie Eater had already accomplished his task of cheering her up.

Pie smirked and rubbed a hand over the top of the box. "I don't 'ave a fork but you could always use yer hands" He slowly opened the top, holding it up for her to see. It was a slice of the apple pie Daisy had made, or at least used to be. The dessert lost its form from being knocked about in the case all day, so it looked more like a gooey cobbler. Nonetheless it smelled wonderful. "Want it?"

Her face lit up at the sight of the pie and she hardly noticed its mashed state. She shook her head slightly, trying not to look too eager as she leaned forward slightly to smell it. "No way can I take your pie Pie," . . . she said as she reached a finger out to taste some.

Pie laughed and set the box on Sweets lap. "Jus' eat it, Sweets! I got more at home anyhow..." granted it wasn't much after his binge but it was obvious Sweets wanted some. "I wouldn't want it after your sticky little fingers have been in it" he teased her and leaned back against the wall.

"Oh..." She quickly poked it. "Oh well then, sorry 'bout that." She gave him an impish grin before picking at the pie with only two fingers, making what should be a mess look quite dainty. "So wheah did ya get ya hands on this anyways?"

Pie's grin vanished and to replace it his face turned a deep red. "Uhh.." he stumbled and started to place with his boot lace, "Daisy made it for me..." His voice was hushed and he rattled it off quickly as if it would be too hard to catch and Sweets might just let it pass. He was so easily embarrassed over such things.

She shook her head and let out a small laugh, already working on the crust of the pie. With a slightly full mouth looked up at him with a smirk. "Daisy as in the sweet'art from Brooklyn?" She wiped her mouth with her sleeve, setting the empty box down. "Why'd she make you a pie?" She put a hand up for him to wait a second as a quite nasty cough wracked her body for a moment. Taking a deep breath and giving her head a small shake she looked back up to him expectantly.
