<New Day>
Drama knocked lightly on the door, humming softly to herself. It was the first day off she had and she'd decided to use it to visit Golly and drop off some carrots for Vanora. She was holding two bags, one contained the carrots, the other was a brown paper bag holding some freshly baked pastries that were sending a mouth-watering scent wafting to her nose. Frowning slightly as there was no answer, she raised her hand and knocked again. Maybe she had the wrong apartment, she'd had to ask around to get the exact number, perhaps she had been given the wrong information.

Golly trudged up the stairs, pounding his feet onto the stairs to knock the dirty snow off before walking into his apartment. When he reached the landing he noticed a woman at his door and he narrowed his eyes trying to make her out. "May I help you?" he asked, walking briskly toward her. Finally he recognized her face and smiled, briefly, because it fell when he realized he was looking excited. "Drama. I wasn't expectin' you..." he trailed off when he got to the doorway.

Drama turned at the sound of his voice, her face melting into a warm smile. "Hey there handsome. It's good to know that you weren't answering because you weren't here...and not because you're avoiding me." She frowned slightly at his expression and sighed, "Did I come at a bad time? I wanted to bring Vanora those carrots I promised her and..." She held up the brown paper bag and shrugged, "I brought you some pastries."

Golly shook his head "No, no I'm jus' surprised - in a good way." he admitted and looked at the bag now smelling its aroma. "Smells delicious, I haven't eaten." He didn't really know what to say or do around her - not after their last meeting. He fumbled around in his pocket before taking his key out and opening the door and gesturing for her to enter first.

"Good surprises are the best kind of surprises," Drama commented, patting him lightly on the arm before entering his apartment. Her eyes took in her surroundings quickly, setting the bag with the carrots on a nearby table and wandering further inside. It looked like the home of a single man, sparsely furnished but comfortable. "Nice place," she commented, spinning around slightly and then looking back voer at him she held up the abg. "You said you hadn't eaten, you want to dig in?"

Golly shrugged following her in. "Yeah it works.." The place was a studio, filled only with the essentials. He put his cap and jacket on a coat rack next to the door and ran a hand through his short hair. "I was actually comin' back to eat, so that would be great" His hand gestured to the table she set the carrots on, which was also covered in a pile of his laundry, books, papers, and other nonsense. Quickly, he scooped up the junk so they'd have a place to eat and tossed it in a heap next to his bed. "Sorry, I don't really have much company..." he mumbled making his way back to the kitchenette to rummage for some clean plates and flatware. He was mildly flustered by her presence, struggling to keep himself calm and collected.

"It's fine, Golly," Drama said, stepping into the kitchenette and taking the plates from his hands. "Let me help." She smiled at him then just watching him for a moment before turning and heading back for the table. Opening the bag she began emptying the pasteries on one of the plates. She didn't even know what had compelled her to do this for him, only that the idea had crossed her mind and she couldn't shake the thought that he'd like it...and she wanted to do something for him...something to make him smile. "I wasn't sure what you liked, so I got a little of everything," She said, selecting a cinnamon bun for herself and setting it on her own plate and sitting down.

Golly returned the smile and fetched two glasses from the cupboard. He filled them with some tab water and brought them to the table, taking a seat. "Water's all I got - unless you want some scotch with your breakfast", it wasn't an unfamiliar idea. He surveyed the treats in front of him and let out a a little laugh, shaking his head at the same time. He plucked a bear claw with one hand while running the other over his cheek. "Well I see you bought the place out, lass" This time the smile stuck and he thanked her before taking a bite.

"As tempting as the scotch sounds, I'm inclined to agree it's a bit early for that," She laughed and took a sip of the water he offered. She watched him peruse the selections and grinned at his comment. So she had gone a little overboard, at least she had accomplished her goal when he rewarded her with a smile. Her green eyes found his and she ssaid, "Anything that wins me that smile is well worth every penny."

He brushed some of the flaky pastry from his unshaven face - he'd kind of neglected to shave regularly since he hadn't been working. "Mmm, glad you have a goal for when you see me Drama" he commented before drinking some of his water. "But you know lass, I've got one too..." His smile was replaced by a smirk.

"Oh really..." Drama said, arching her eyebrow at him and tilting her head. She studied the lines of his handsome face, finding herself more thrilled than she should have been that she had decided to stop by. Without taking her eyes from him she took another bite of her cinnamon bun and chewed thoughtfully. "And just what might that be?"

He set his fork down, his smile waining. He didn't know how she'd react to it, but he was afraid she would retract from him for pushing. Taking deep breath he shrugged and picked up his fork again. Concentrating on his food he half-mumbled a response. "Findin' out what your hidin' in your past..."

"Who said I was hidin' anything?" Drama replied, her eyes narrowed but she kept them on her plate so he wouldn't see. She was hiding, because if he knew about her, really knew the things about her that she hid, he wouldn't even look at her twice. And for some reason she wanted him too. Taking the last bite of her bun she leaned back in her chair and studied him, her emotions now hidden behind a smile.

"No one had to say anything" he said raising an eyebrow and matching her gaze. "When I met you at Caprice, you just beat around the bush. You've jus' made me more curious, lass" He'd get it out of her someday.

"Maybe I just like being a woman of mystery," Drama teased, having lowered her voice dramtically. She wished she could tell him and it not matter. She wished that her past wouldn't some day come between them, but she knew that it likely would. "You know what they say about curiosity..." She began, meaning to tease again and then sobered slightly, reaching for another pastry but not biting into it. She broke a piece off and played with it on the plate, not looking at him. "Careful what questions you start looking for answers too...you may not like what you find."
