Daisy glanced up as the door behind her opened and a small waif of a girl stood there, staring. The recognition came slowly as Daisy gazed at her and it wasn't until she met the girl's eyes that she realized she had come face to face with just whom she was looking for. Glancing at the young man who was still watching them intently, Daisy looked back at the girl.
"Hands...is that you?"

Race sighed, tossing his unfinished cigarette into the snow. "I'll give you ladies some privacy," he said, walking back inside.

"Thanks. Stop by McGinty's sometime if you're ever in Brooklyn," Daisy offered, in hopes of making ammends for any earlier annoyance she may have caused him when he was trying to help.

Hands grinned and nodded excitedly, moving her hands quickly as if explaining the events of the period they had been seperated.
I've missed you so much! She grinned even more, and her hands finally stopped moving.

"I've missed you too!" Daisy said, fighting back the tears that welled in her eyes. "Are you well?"

((Um... in case you haven't read the thing, Hands is deaf... but, she can read lips, so I s'pose that's okay. xDDD))
She nodded, still grinning, and threw her arms around her older sister.

(I know Daisy squeezed her tight in response, wishing she could find out everything her sister had been up to over the last two years. How she had survived. Releasing her, Daisy took her hand and sank back down onto the steps. Speaking loud and slow, half signing as she spoke she asked, "You left because of father...didn't you?"

((Haha, okay. So, I s'pose italics are what she signs...)) Hands thought for a moment, and sighed, sitting down beside Daisy. After a few more seconds, she nodded slowly. He didn't seem to respect me. She signed, shrugging. How is everyone?

"He doesn't respect anyone," Daisy replied, playing with her hands as she thought of all the countless hours she had spent listening to her father yelling. Lately it had gotten worse and Daisy wasn't sure how much longer she'd be able to take it. He'd only gotten physical once, but she was worried that the trend would continue. Brushing the thoughts aside she turned towards Hands,
"That's why I wanted to come find you. Everyone isn't fine," Daisy sighed, trying to figure out the best way to explain. "Momma is sick."

Hands' eyes widened, and she stared at Daisy. Her mother had been a wonderful woman... or, had been when Hands had still been at home.
Should I come home?

Daisy closed her eyes. Hands would come if Daisy asked, she'd set aside the poor relationship that she had with their father and suffer through the abuse if Daisy asked her too. But there was no way to know for sure how their father would react when he saw Hands. Daisy shook her head. "No. Not now. There is nothing to be done. You'll be safer here."
Daisy considered the brief conversaton she'd had with the young man before Hands had appeared. "Do you like it here? They treat you well?"

She looked guiltily at the sky, and bit her lip. I only just got here... I've been living on the streets she signed. They're having a crisis; so I haven't asked to be part of this lodging house, yet.

Sighing Daisy thought for a minute, "I don't want you living on the streets anymore. Promise me you won't. We haven't been here long but if you need some place to stay we'll figure something out. I'm working at McGinty's Pub in Brooklyn...come see me there if you need anything."
Daisy reached down and took her sister's hand, squeezing it a little. "I'm glad I found you Eden."

Well, when things calm down here, I'm going to see if I can stay. Hands signed, before giving Daisy a hug. I'm glad I found you, too.

"I have to go, but remember...McGinty's Pub if you need anything," Daisy stood and moved down the stpes before turning and saying over her shoulder, "I love you."
