Buck smiled, "Well, anytime you see me, expect whatever it cost for a paper to be in my hand." He assured her. "I'd always love to have a newspaper, to know what's happening." He smiled, "Well, next time maybe." He said with a shrug. "You don't seem like a scary girl, to me." He told her.

"I'll be suah ta look yah up." Cards nodded. "As foah you not thinkin' I'se scary? Youah da on'y one, mate." she paused, "'Couah's t'ings is goin' okay heah. Nobody runnin' away screamin' at any rate."
Here Cards quirked a grin. It wasn't that she was terrifyingly scary, it was just that sometimes, she had an attitude that got her into more trouble than it was worth. Then, that's when things got sticky. But, generally, if a person was polite to her, she saw no reason to not be so either.

"Well, I must have caught you on one of your lucky days." He said with a nod. He wasn't sure if he wanted to catch her on a bad day. "Well, if you ever want to sell me a paper, I'm wither at the tracks or somewhere in Brooklyn; I don't leave very often... for now." He said, wondering if there might be some reason in the future to leave Brooklyn more.

Eleanor sat down, two or three stools separating her from Buck and Cards. To the bartender she grumbled, "Strongest thing you have, would you please?" Even in her rather fragile emotional state, the 21-year-old artist didn't forget her manners.
The drink was placed before her, and she sighed before taking a swig. "Wouldn't even be here if the cat had just left that damned rat be," she muttered to no one, her gaze never leaving the contents of her glass. She wasn't sure why she'd come here; it wasn't as though anyone really cared about her problems.

Buck smiled, "Yes, you can hold me to it until the day I leave." He assured her. He looked over to the lady who had walked in; he wouldn't have said anything, but she seemed to be very stressed, "Excuse me, ma'dam, are you ok." He asked, turning in her direction.

Eleanor glanced up, her hand now wrapped around the glass. "...No, but I will be, eventually." She sighed, finished the drink, and deposited some money on the counter where it, along with the empty glass, was taken by the bartender.
"Anyway, who cares to know?" She inwardly cringed at how rude she sounded, and felt the need to apologize. "Sorry. It's just...I almost never drink, and when I do I forget all my manners." She stood, put her hands on her hips, and started to walk away.

"I'm Buck." He said, answering her question. "And it's not rude; you have a right to know the stranger that's interested in how you are doing." He told her. He smiled, and kept watching her, wondering if she'd turn and talk again.

Eleanor smiled slightly at him over her shoulder. "Well, Buck, glad to have met you. Eleanor Richards is my name, or Paintbrush if you prefer. I'm an artist, if you can't guess." She walked away, humming an old song to herself. Going back to her apartment would be okay by now, probably, because she had already buried her beloved lost pet.

Buck smiled, and watched her leave. He had wondered what was really wrong; but if she didn't want to say, it was none of his business. He turned his attention onto the last few bites off food.

Buck shrugged, "Well, it was prob'ly something pretty bad... considering she got a strong drink, didn't talk much, and wouldn't say. I could be something just so small it didn't matter, but you usually don't drink over that." He pointed out. Looking back to Cards he smiled, "Well, I better get back home, I gotta straighten things up, and hit the hay." He told her, reaching into his pocket for money. He pulled it out and placed it down, letting the Bartender take it, and give him his change.

"Yeah, mus' be." Cards yawned and stretched. "I t'ink youah right about hittin' da hay." she tried to mimmick his accent, but failed miserably. She shook her head. "I knew dere was a reason I'se wasn' evah a prefoahmah." She grinned. "T'anks foah buyin' me dinnah."

((Sorry my posting has been odd recently... I've been sick and school's been rough))
Buck smiled, "Ah, it wasn't too back." He told her with a grin. "Some practice and some time in Texas'll do you some good." He laughed and stood up. "Well, I'll be seein' you around." He walked out as quietly, placing his hat on his head the moment he stepped out. He turned and gave a tip of his hat as another good bye; then walked off.
