"You're welcome." Jennifer smiled at him, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. "G'night." She slipped off, crawling into her own bunk, not too far away, slipping under the covers and laying her head down. She was out in minutes.

* New Day *
Sweets relaxed against the cold brick, pulling her coat a little tighter. It was a bit cold to be sitting outside, but she wanted some fresh air.

Jack came trudging up the stairs, his coat pulled tight, cowboy hat pulled low. He was coming to talk to Prince about something, but completely forgot about that when he saw Sweets.
He blinked a bit, then pushed his hat off his head, running his hand through his hair, shifting a bit. "...Uh...hey Sweets."

She had heard him coming but it was too late to run inside. Standing up slowly she shifted awkwardly, wrapping her arms around herself for warmth. "Heya Jack . . " She struggled to come up with something else to say, something general about the weather or headlines, but as hard as she tried she came up blank.

Jack sighed and shrugged, kickin a stone out of his path. "Look...I knows when we last talked it ended bad...I's sorry." He had been in a self pityin' mood then--and he had been wrong. What Sweets had said had hit close ta home.
"We miss ya at the lodgin' house.."

She shook her head slightly, not believing what she was hearing. "Miss me?" she mumbled softly, looking down at her shoes. "But Jack I . . . left. I left all of ya for a bunch a jerks and threw it in your face."
She glanced up, avoiding eye contact, and shrugged. "I didn't think ya'd want me back."

Jack smirked. "...now when have I been a vendictive sorta guy?" He chuckled. "...Is from 'hattan, not Brooklyn." He shrugged. "Ya said stuff that maybe I needed ta heah. Despite ya sayin' it at da wrong time."
He shook his head and started up the stairs towards ya. "...I mean..ya did defect. Twice..first ta tha Raconteurs, den ta Prince! My kids ain't loyal anymore!" It was a bad try at a joke.

She grinned, glad the mood was lightening. Giving him a little poke she smirked. "Since when d'you gotta problem with Prince huh?"
Taking a step back she finally met his gaze, and her smirk turned into a smile. Without warning and with a little leap she wrapped her arms around his neck, squeezing him tight. "I've missed ya Jack."

Jack smirked. "Now..I's aint got no problem with Prince...but if she keeps stealin' mah best newesies..."
He took a step back for balance when Sweets hugged him, and after a moment, wrapped his arms around her and hugged her back. "...missed ya too Sweets." His voice was a bit softer, most of the posturin' gone. "Does that mean ya comin' back..or ya gonna help Prince toughin' up Queens a bit." He was really glad they had made up. The way they had parted last had bugged him more than he let on.

"Well, as long as I still gotta bunk.... an' as long as Race or nobody's touched it..." She added the last part with a joking grimace, "Then I'll take ya up on that offah Cowboy." Glancing around briefly at the surrounding city she gave a small sigh. "Queens is alright. . but it jist aint home."

"s'good ta be back too," she said with a grin, and refraining from hugging him again, she instead turning to run inside. Over her shoulder she called to the door she'd left open. "Jist gotta get my stuff!" Pausing on the steps she smirked. "Oh an' Prince is in 'er room Kelly, you know, for dat 'leadah business' ya have ta discuss?" She couldn't help but laugh at her own teasing as she bounded up the rest of the stairs.

Jack shook his head, waiting for Sweets. God he was never going to live down goin' steady with Prince, was he? He smiled goodnaturedly and lit a cigarette, taking a drag.

After about a minute she came back out the door wearing her ratty coat and carrying a small cloth bag. She was slightly surprised to find Jack still outside. "Ya know you don' have ta waste time takin' me back, I'm shore Prince'd like ta see ya."
