Cheater shook Golly's hand, but shook her head at the offer of a drink.
"I know a few people that would probably kill me if I drank." She said with a small smile, thinking of Sprints' expression when he found out she smoked.

Nonetheless Golly smiled and took his bag off the chair next to him. He pulled it out and gestured for her to sit down. "Drinking is a vice, 'specially so young" he shrugged not really caring how young Race may have been. It was a hyporitical statement."Don't need ta leave ya out , wanna sarsaparilla, or a sandwich?" He asked her before letting out a hiccup and excusing himself.

Race couldn't help but let out a small laugh. His day went for horrible to, well, whiskey. "Well I'm glad ya found my misery entertaining," he said good naturedly, adjusting his hat back to it's proper place back on his head. "Golly, huh? Wheah d'ya get a name like dat?"

Golly got another round of drinks and again pushed one toward Racetrack. He could feel the alcohol flowing through his veins, loosing him up. He took a small sip as Racetrack talked.
"Golly, huh? Wheah d'ya get a name like dat?" He sneered a bit, not at his new friends but at the table. "Ya see.." he started, the jolliness gone from his voice, "Its really a cruel joke. In Scots Gaelic it means 'bottom' and 'low place'. I had an older brother so me parents decided it was fittin' for the latter..." He snorted, obviously not enthusiastic about the origin of his name then added in a low grumble "I didn't deserve a normal name like Hamish or Alistair..." He drank more as if to drown out his resentment. When the glass me the table he was smiling again. "At least its me real name, all you kids run around wit ridiculous fake names that half the time sound like some boys pet dog!" He meant it in a good natured way, because really it made no difference in his life.

"Hey, since when does Cheater sound like a pet dog's name?" Cheater questioned with a raised eyebrow as she looked from the two males to the ceiling and back again.

Race laughed, downing the other drink swiftly. Holding out his hand he smirked slightly. "Anthony Higgins." His real name was something he rarely told his friends, but they only had fake names to hide from the bulls, which this guy obviously wasn't, and perhaps the drinks were already beginning to cloud up the scrappy little Italian's mind.

Golly laughed at Cheater, although not in a mocking way. "Cheater is it? An' no that ain't like a dog, some are though...those newsie kids ovah in Brooklyn.. ya know Patch, Skip, somethin' like that, yeah thats a dog name!" He started to giggle and finished off the drink. He never drank like this - usually because he had no one to drink with and he was usually working; really it came down to the lack of a life. The tipsy cop looked back to Mr. Higgins, "Ahh ya got a real name!" He narrowed his eyes a bit, still grinning, and spoke in a lower tone. "Guess dat means ya aint in trouble - she must be though..." He pointed to Cheater with his thumb followed up by another round of hiccups.

She smirked and shook her head.
"Nope, and the name is Aqua LaRusso." Cheater had to think about what her name was for a few seconds, having not been called Aqua in a long time.
The fact that the two boys were slightly intoxicated amused the young girl, but she chose not to laugh about it until later...

Racetrack gave Cheater a slightly shocked look at her giving her name, then remembered he had given his real name only moments before. He reached his hand out to grab another glass but found it was the one he just drank and was empty. Chuckling to himself he leaned his elbows on the table and rested his face in his hands. "How do you know Spot?" he asked loudly, in reference to what Golly had said earlier.

Golly smiled broadly at Cheater, happy to hear her say her real name. "Jus' lovely" He complemented before adding, "An' nice ta see yer keepin' yer nose clean"
"Spot? Yeah thats da name...." He leaned back in his chair, "ooh, His name gets tossed 'round da office a bit since he's da leader of the Brooklyn crowd - actually had da pleasure of meetin' him at a bar few weeks back" Golly had lost his restraint. He let words flow from his mouth not bothering to think.

"That must've been an interesting meeting." Cheater commented, sipping from her glass of water and grinning.
((So... short... need... ideas...))

He narrowed his eyes at Golly, but a stupid grin was still spread across his face as he downed another drink. "Da office? What kind of office talks about newsboys?" He leaned in closer across the table, his grin fading. "You don' work for Pulitzah do ya?"

"He doesn't look like he'd work for Pulitzer... he kind of remindes me of a police officer... a drunk police officer, of course, but a police officer all the same." She said, her eyes going over every facial feature. Cheater didn't know why, but all cops had this... look to them that practically screamed 'I'm a cop'.

Golly's expression fell, realizing he had given himself away. His face melted into a frown as his looked at Cheater and nodded lightly. "Ya found me out, kid." He glanced between both of them and struggled to pull something from his satchel (despite the sudden sullen mood, the alcohol was still impairing basic motor skills). Eventually he freed the object and laid it not so gracefully on the table. His silver badge. "Rookie. First year." He sighed and waved down the waiter for another round of drinks.
He looked Race in the eyes, still in a sulk. "Nevah worked for Pulitzer...but I did work fer Hurst....hawkin' headlines" He said it as if it made up for being a cop.

She frowned a bit, looking at Golly. "Aw, I'm sorry... but um... I bet that you make a good cop, not to mention that you're nicer than most of the ones I've seen..."
Trying to make people feel better was something Cheater was usually good at, but she hadn't known really that finding out Golly was a police man would make him sad.
