He nodded taking a look at the three walets and the purse. He looked them through a little. There were some valuables in the purse as well. "You're doing great. Go ahead and keep goin'. After all, why quit when you're on a roll?" he asked her with a sly smirk. "Keep it up," he said with high approval.

SlingShot grinned widely at him and nodded, heading back into the crowd, very proud of herself. She easily snagged another wallet and slipped it into her pocket. She was getting a bit careless though. She next person she saw with a loose wallet wasn't as ... distracted as he looked. She went to pull it out of his pocket and he grabbed her wrist, whirling around to face her. "What do you think you're doing?" SlingShot looked to Nick in panic.

Nick looked over at the two, he would go to her rescue, sure enough, but he first wanted to see if she could handle herself. Besides, getting caught was not a good idea in his book. He'd get her here in just a second, but he first wanted to see if she could handle it on her own.

SlingShot turned from Nick to the man as his grip tightened on her arm. "I... I was..." she searched around for an excuse, but couldn't find one. She hadn't anticipated this and had no idea what to say. She cast another pleading glance over at Nick, realizing that he would probably be angry with her. But that would surely be better than this man taking her to the police...

NIck walked briskly over to SlingShot and the man gripping her arm. "Pardon me sir," he said sternly to the man. "This is my sister, she often gets confused at where she is. She must have thought you were me, or my father or something. She really is quite stupid," he said grabbing SlingShot's arm just above where the man gripped her. "Sorry for the inconvenience sir," he said. He handed the walet back to the man.

SlingShot breathed a sigh of relief as Nick came over, happy he was going to help her.
The man frowned for a moment, then seemed to make a decision, and nodded his head, taking his wallet from Nick. "Ya should keep a bettah eye on 'er lad", he commented. He nodded his head once more, then let go of SlingShot and walked away.
SlingShot watched the man walk away, then turned towards Nick as much as she could with him holding her arm.

Nick scowled after the man before he looked down at SlingShot a cold look in his eyes. "What were you thinking?" he asked rather harshley. "Weren't you paying attention? You really are stupid. Pay more attention from now on, or I'll cut this hair of yours even shorter until you have none left," he said. Nick was nothing but a heartless man, no matter what he appeared to be, he had not heart, no sense of care, though he may pretend to, he didn't.

SlingShot cringed away from Nick and her free hand flew up to her shortened hair. Gone was his pleasant, kind attitude, and in its place she saw a cold hearted, uncaring man. She shook her head. "I'm... sorry..." she said quietly, any respect she had for him replaced by a sense of fear she didn't know where that came from. She looked quickly around. She wanted to leave.

Nick released her hand. "You had better get back to work, you've got time to make up for... get started!" he said angrily to her. HE would have yelled, but it drew too much attention. He turned away from her and walked a few feet away so that he could still keep an eye on her, but he seemed to stay closer now. Probably because he figured she'd try and make a run for it and well... Nick simply wouldn't allow that.

SlingShot bit her lip for a moment and did the stupid thing. She tried to make a run for it. After only a few yards she cursed herself for having ever allowed him to get her into a dress. It made running bloody hard and slow going. She kept tripping over it and knew she probably wasn't going to get away with this.

Nick instantly dashed after her. He could run a lot faster than her with longer legs, and not being restrained by a skirt. He ran quickly and caught up with her. Grabbing her arm again he said, "Tell me, once you got away from me, what were you plannin' on doin' next? Goin' ta find some newsie ta take pitty on ya? Dressed like thaty they'll figure out that you betrayed them so fast it would make your head spin. I hate to break it to you Kristina," he said putting strong emphasis on her name, "but I'm afraid you're stuck with me," he said with a cold look on his eyes.

SlingShot spinned to face him and winced at his words. "It's SlingShot", she grumbled, mostly out of loss of anything else to say to him. She knew that he was probably right. They'd all knoew the second they saw her, especially Spot.

"Little wench," he cursed under his breath. Always with the defyant girls. "Either you get back to work, or we go home... wich do you choose?" he asked. Either way he'd give her her cut as promised, reduced, no doubt, but he hardly ever took back his word, he was good for that.

SlingShot chewed on her bottom lip as he spoke. "...home..." she said quietly. If she tried to go back to 'work', she probably just get caught again because she'd be trying so hard, and that would only anger him more. Even though.... by home she didn't really mean what he did. But she knew now she was going wether she liked it or not. What had she gotten herself into?

"Then let's get a move on then," he said as he tossed her in the direction back towards the headquarters. And if she was good like she was supposed to be she wouldn't think of running away again. He'd find her, he was angry enough at the others he would make sure this one would not escape.
