SlingShot regained her balance and headed back towards the headquarters. She breifly considered running, but it was obvious he would catch her, especially since she was dressed in this skirt. She chewed on her lip as she walked ahead of Nick, not looking back. She couldn't believe she had been stupid enough to let this happen to her. She finally threw a glance back on the hollow hope that he somehow, for some reason, wouldn't be there.
(( I'll meetcha there... you start? ))

But he always was, he followed her glaring, and angry all the way back to the Bronx headquarters, not stopping once, and keeping close to her always.
((Yep, meet you there, and I'll start.))

(New Day)
Innocence was lost but she didn't mind that. The places she had gone had been so amazing. She wondered why her mommy and daddy had never taken her to these places. The park she understood but everywhere else she didn't. She skipped along the riverbank holding her teddy bear. She had half a mind to jump in the water but she didn't.

Skittery wandered down to the riverbank; the people milling around the waters edge were his last few targets to sell to before his day was done. He accosted one woman and politely asked her to sell a paper to no avail. Thats when he noticed the little girl. She was right at the waters edge and appeared to be alone - stupid parents, that was, if she had any.... He had a soft spot for little kids and quickly strode over to her, worried that she might just go into the chilly water.
"Hey sweetie, " His voice was hard but kind, trying to get her attention. "That water ain't somethin' to be playin' round, not this time a year.." He stayed just out of reach, not wanting to scare her but then again wanting to be close enough to grab her if she went for the water.

Innocence turned to Skittery and about jumped when she did so. "Why isn't it. I thought water was something you could play in." Her little eyes sparkled. She had just been exploring and with Skittery's appearence it had reminded her slightly that she had no clue what she was doing or where she was, but she didn't much care. She walked up closer to him. Waiting for him to answer her.

Skittery stared down at the tiny little girl and could help but smile. He squatted so he was down at her level, using his staff to support his weight. "Yeah ya can play in it - when its warm. Today ya'd freeze to death" He looked around to see if any adult was on there way to shoo him away from there kid. Nothing. He looked back at her furrowing his brow. "You alone?"

Innocence nodded. "Why is it so cold?" She was over courious no one had every explained things to her. She always got the watered down version of everything. "Mommy and Daddy went away." She hugged her teddy bear tighter.

Skittery raised his eyebrow curiously, "away" could mean several things. He wasn't used to being questioned so much so his let out a little chuckle before trying to explain "It's fall, that means winter's comin' - uhh snow and ice..." He realized he really had no idea how to explain the seasons to a toddler seeing as he didn't even know what caused them. So he settled for "it jus' is" with a shrug.

Innocence took what he said as the answer and moved a little bit aways form the water. "they aren't coming back. daddy's been gone longer then mommy though." 'away' was the only word she knew to use other then gone to explain what happened. She didn't understand it herself. her mommy seemed fine when she went to bed that night but she didn't wake up and daddy never came home after work the night he went away.

Skittery frowned a bit, understanding a bit more - at least that the kids parents deserted her or died, something along those lines. He sighed and looked out to the water "Yeah mine too, kid." His thighs ached from squatting so he plopped down onto the ground and stretched his legs out in front of him. "Kiddo, whats yer name an' how'd you get out here anyways?" He felt too involved now just to desert the little thing and she seemed to be getting comfortable with him.

"My names Constance" She said slowly, "but everyone calls me Innocence" She sat down next to him. She gave him a shy little smile. Holding her teddy close to hear. "Mommy told me that if anything happened to her to go and find a policeman which i did but i kinda decided i was gonna wander around and i got lost."

"Well I ain't a policeman but my names Skittery "Skittery smiled when she sat next to him, the bear made her even more adorable. Being around little kids was one of the few things that generally got him out of his moods, and she was no exception. He was irritated, however, with the cop was just let her wander off - stupid pigs. "Ya shouldn't be wanderin' 'round alone... but I'll tell ya what, ya can hang out wit' me 'til I can take ya home. Even 'elp me sell these stupid things" He handed her one of the remaining newspapers he couldn't sell for the life of him.

"What's this?" She questioned him. Her parents had never read the paper and she didn't know how to read herself. It wasn't exactly that the cop had let her wander it was just she kinda didn't want to go where the cop had wanted her to go. She looked at the paper and then at him. "Okay." was the answer to her hanging around with him for awhile.

"My livelihood, kid" he sighed before explaining. " It's a newspaper. People read 'em to find out about all da bad things goin' on in da woild" His cynicism was there despite talking to a tyke. Skittery smiled again, pleased she agreed to stay with him for her good as well as his own (it was nice to have something other than headlines to worry about).

Zero crossed the sand slowly, her eyes wandering. She had been wondering lately about the Raconteurs... but had heard some of the things others had to say about them.
Her eyes fell on Skittery, and then the girl, and she grinned, sneaking up behind the older boy.
"She's cute, is she yours?"
